S2 ending: Who would you go with

so in the S2 ending you could go alone with Kenny, alone with Jane or completely alone (with AJ obvs). But if you were able to choose one character out of all characters Clementine has met, who would you go with. (apart from lee because everyone would probably choose him)

Comments

  • Go with Sarah. I'd have loved a partnership between Clem and Sarah.

  • Christa
    Lilly I guess
    Shel and Becca

Honourable mention - Carver. That psycho obviously wanted Clementine to be his apprentice and i'm curious to see how it would have played out.

  • Kenny. I'd even choose him over Lee to be honest.
And I'd stay with him no matter what. Because life is worthless without good people to share it with.

  • Same.

  • Including ANF?

  • Kenny
    Ben
    Lilly
    Omid/Christa

  • From S1: Carley. She's trustworthy, kind, capable and had a close connection with Lee.

From 400 Days: Eddie. That would be hilarious to see!!!

From S2: Luke. I really wish that was an option.

From Michonne: Well....Michonne. Cmon! That would be badass!!!

From ANF: Javier. I live their relationship in the game. I just wish we could see more of it.

  • Still Kenny

  • Avro, he is such a good man; caring, loving and responsible. They would be an awesome team with Clem and AJ.

  • I'd stick it out with Jane and Luke (my dream team!), and maybe throw Kenny in there to make it interesting :D

I think I'd stick with either Wellington or Howe's, giving them the option of either joining a new community or building their own.

Either way, something would happen to get Clem separated from her friends, and she would find out what happened over the course of the season.

  • Season 1: Molly - quick thinking, physically strong, familiar with Savannah

400 Days: Shel -calm, rational, moral center

Season 2: pregnant, flight risk, mentally unstable, trigger happy....these characters have waaaay too much baggage. Lol Bonnie. I guess.

    • Molly: I think it would be cool to see a season with Clementine and Molly as the two main characters later on in the apocalypse

    • Eddie (400 days): he's a really funny and cool character that would be cool to travel with and have as a friend.

  • Flight risk?

If you mean a rhetorical scenario that happens to include dead characters being alive (that aren't Lee), I would say either Omid or Christa.

If you are only wanted to include characters that are alive by that point, I would still choose Kenny, just as I had before.

  • How do you do that, PM?

  • Pretty much. I think Bonnie and Mike's defection amounts to them being written out of the way quickly bc it's about as expected as Kenny and Jane's sudden inexplicable murderous hatred for each other lol. NGB was a hastily executed incomplete idea. Ppl hate on Amid the Ruins when it's much more cohesive aside from Nick's and Sarah's deaths.

That's what happens when you (likely) have to change major elements of the story late in development. You can adjust things to line up with change in plans early on (hence the "Season2!Kenny was Carlos" theory) without too much difficulty, but when you decide to do things like suddenly hype up a new character that was eventually decided to be given the top billing role in the finale, you have to use what little time you have to make it work.

Though to be fair, both episodes are controversial for similar reasons, the way they handled the characters is definitely the common point of contention, with said changes likely being the driving force. Nick was probably never meant to be that big a player in the finale to begin with and he was already a determinant character whose arc and near everything relevant to it was done in AHD; combine that with a rumor that his voice actor was unavailable during AtR, and his death in the episode was the best they could manage with the changed plans and/or writers. Meanwhile, Bonnie and Mike weren't that much better: Mike's subplot and plot relevance to the first half of the Season was dummied out during IHW's development and Bonnie was a carry over from 400 Days whose role in the plot had already been completed, so they were just teamed up as a duo of Professional Supporting Characters, with Mike getting the prominence and Bonnie having the depth. And like you said, their popularity with the fanbase at the time, combined with their role as former villains, meant they ended up being written out alongside Arvo, whose original role in the plot may have been slightly changed as well for all we know. Which leaves Sarah and Luke behind as the more marketable(for lack of a better term) characters for the Season getting shafted in favor of said new character, Jane.

  • Luke, no contest.

To this day, I still can't accept his death.

I'll be 90 years old, looking through a window in a small country house, and thinking to myself "Luke's death was bullshit".

I'll die and my epitaph will say "Here lies Abeille. She thought Luke's death was bullshit".
