It was ok, too many weird decisions to say it was great like dropping the Joan plot, Ava dying and everyone immediately forgetting about it, Gabe's character literally changing every other scene, Conrad kinda disappeared until the end which made me think the game bugged out, offscreen death for David, and other nagging details that annoyed me.
But that's just it I was only annoyed at some of the things in this episode where as season 2 legit pissed me off at how stupid it got. And you know what I'm also glad we got a reasonably happy and hopeful ending for once in TWD the doom and gloom of this Genre can get tiring.
David's offscreen death was determinant. Based on your choice on going after Gabe or going with Kate to save Richmond, you'd end up witnessing one of them die while the other is ultimately doomed (unless you were fortunate enough to let them all live).

choices mattered at the end when choosing the outcomes of your family members, but there wasn't actually much closure w javier's story. joan/clint, eleanor, max, lonnie, etc are either not even present or just cut entirely. kate romance doesn't matter because david tries to kill your ass anyway. some of the death scenes and determinate shit are good, but the worst part about all of this is that you'll probably never see javi or his family again so it was a waste of season
You can't be in two places at once and based on how you made your choices - David died. It was a perfectly sound option for them to do, regardless if you enjoyed it.
You were either with Kate or you went after David. There aren't two Javier's, so you can't see what happens at both areas. That's why it's a choices game. I really don't see how that's a complaint of yours. That's the premise of their whole studio - choices changing your story.
And choices ultimately feeling fulfilling as well as shaping a well written story.
ANF puts the value of choices over proper storytelling and that's a giant issue for Telltale who state they prioritize story and characters over gameplay.
I mean what did you want?

Okay, but my previous question remains - what would you have done differently then? You made a choice - go after Gabe, or go with Kate.
You can't do both, so you're not gonna see both unfolding. That would make way less sense. So please enlighten me as to how that would have been done better.

Play as Clem in the scenarios where Gabe isn't around. You would have to rewrite a good chunk of the narrative for that to work but I don't see how that's impossible for the writers.

It was the best episode from ANF in my opinion. I really liked how there are different endings to this episode. But if they continue the walking dead with Javi and the rest of the survivors next season, they better not pull a Kenny/Jane where they all die anyway and your choice doesn't matter.
But I do have a gripe because of how David acted this episode. He started doing some crazy stuff and I don't get why he changed all of a sudden this episode. But overall, I liked this episode. Btw, I got the same ending as you, Gabe living, Kate missing, and David dying.
What? It was awful nothing from previous episodes mattered at all. Conrad suddenly disappars despite being right next to Javi then doesn't a… moreppear til the end of the episode. Both Tripp and Ava die in a shit way. Davids (and Gabes) deaths were fucking stupid like Kennys and we didn't see AJ at all making Clementines only plotline pointless just so they can pop out more seasons. Worst episode of the walking dead ever
I though Ava was an interesting character. There is no way that death was fake. Cheap yes. Fake no. They clearly just needed to get rid of her character as quickly as possible. She was already determinant in episode 4.
As much as I liked the season, episode 5 was a mess and ruined David's character.
Ava's fake-death-so-she-can-come-back-next-season was s… moretupid too.
she's not even an interesting character and neither is kenny 2.0 (tripp)

it was all super rushed

They made me regret wishing gabes death to happen so what I'll do is claps nice job I felt sad for the kid real bad reminded me about the sadness of loosing Kenny n Lee :-:

Sorry. I understand you have an opinion but I laughed when you said you thought it was their best done yet. The endings were a cool concept but there was way too much wrong with this episode imho. It's officially made me give up in even watching a playthrough of the next one.

Go help everyone else? who are you talking about he wasn't with Clem and Gabe wasn't with David so who is he was helping?
Yeah, you're right, my mistake. Clem, Gabe and David were the only ones that lived in Richmond.

That doesn't make an offscreen death for a major character better.

My clem only kissed gabe because of past season 2 choices I'd say that's pretty diverse

Nah. Below that fall was water. They're gonna make the Ava/Tripp survivor show up in season 4 briefly
They literally gave no closure to so many characters. How is it a good finale when it doesn't tie up the loose ends?

Not that difficult to write it in a way where we see it happen not sure why you think it's impossible, it's called creativity.
You could easily have Javier find therm dying, instead of just finding a corpse.
