How can telltale recover from this

  • Continue after Season 1....In other words, they can't.

  • They can’t. If they pretend ANF didn’t happen, sure - but they won’t so no they can’t recover from this. The damage has been done. Sales will be slow next season - that’s a guarantee. Preorder sales will be very low as well.

  • there's never been a zombie movie, game, book, or novel as far as I know that has ever made good on the cure thing. It would either be pointless. The people who knew about would get eaten etc. If there was a cure in a zombie apocalypse setting then it could help people who were bitten and are bitten. That way the remaining humans could all get together and go to war with the zombies.

  • I'm definitely not going to buy anf. Hopefully it's a new season and not a dlc and hopefully I wouldn't need to have played seasons 1-2 and anf because I'm not going to do that. If it's a dlc then I hope it's a stand alone dlc and I wont need anf. Moving on is the best option for telltale.

  • I doubt they'd do either, I don't think they get yet that ANF was a fail.

  • I feel nostalgic now TT_TT

  • No way in hell they manage a Doug/Carly situation in season 4. Both of those got minimal screentime after their determinant deaths and they got shot in the end anyway.
I'd rather they just die off-screen.

I feel sorry for all of them.

I didn't forget about your minority no worries. I was even in a community that practically worships anything telltale makes and even they said it was trash compared to the other two.

  • Yep I did, there are so many things they could have improved !
But I still liked play it

  • I'm not so sure we're as much a minority as you think...

(Also, I think ANF was better than Season 2.)

  • How about getting rid of that God awful TT engine of theirs and work on something better/reliable. I doubt you can continue polishing a turd and hope these "updates" to the engine will finally make it work properly. It's possible we could have way better games if it weren't for that thing.

  • I think we were expecting too much, the fact they changed the story line so much, made for some parts, the story and dialogs inconsistent. But I still enjoyed playing this season

  • i think its better than having them get killed off in the beggining.

  • They should have kept comic style they used in season 2

i would say they can't recover, there isn't the talent there anymore

    S1 + 400 Days: they tried hard
    S2: they tried at first
    Michonne: different team, doesn't count
ANF: the trying and not trying was all over the place

I think there's hope, but it would be hard without at least some retconning of S2/3 events/choices.

Edit: Which they CAN do, they already did it with Jane.

  • Ew

  • I don't dislike it, but the season 2 graphic style was better ;)

    Maybe because it wasn't

  • Yeah they need a miracle.

They don't need a recovery strategy.

  • I think people will still buy it, since most of us want to see what our (personal) Clem will become.

  • Edit: Which they CAN do, they already did it with Jane.

    What do you mean?

  • People will still buy TWD, the only thing will be that the approval rating(?) and sales on Steam and other platforms will contribute to drop.

As for recovering the franchise? There are two main things they need to do:

    1. They need to sort out their problems with managment. The writers can't do much if their bosses have such unrealistic expectations and poor planning.

    2. Actually address and implement feedback (more hubs and interaction with characters, less shock value deaths, more cohesive SL, choices impacting the story consistently through the season, etc.)

  • I liked ANF more then season 2 as well. Season 2 was full of crap and wasted characters and your choices had practically not impact especially regarding Arvo.

  • Season three was by far my favorite season so far. It allowed me to play a character sort of like Rick, who leads a group, joins a larger community , takes it over and become its leader.

    It was fantastic.

  • Prepare yourdelf , you'll soon receive tons of hate messages

  • Excuse me, but how was it good? I'd like to see an alternative point of view.

  • I think what really puts S2 above ANF for me are the first two episodes of Season 2, they are amazing and on par with Season 1 imo. As for the rest of Season 2 and ANF though, I'd put them on the same boat, I don't hate them and I did enjoy playing them, but it was at least a bit disappointing and could have been much better.

  • Agreed, the styles for Season 2 and Season 1 were both great, and honestly I think even today they both look kinda better than ANF.

They should have kept comic style they used in season 2

  • Season 3 really felt much more like the show than the other 2, but I didn't like it much tbh. I think that what really made TTG TWD unique was putting character development above things like action and the average group vs communiy twd plot, but they took a different route on this game. I didn't like it but I can see why some people did

  • BEing that this coincides with the comic timeline I'd say that is a stretch. BY this time in the comic Rick has lost a wife an infant an eye and a hand. JAvi on the other hand is rolling around in a mini van looking for chocolate bars still wearing his baseball jersey.

  • I can see where you're coming from but for me it was a real shame how every new character from episode 1 & 2 ended up dead. Seemed like a real waste as characters like Alvin, Luke & Sarah had so much more potential and it was a shame to see them killed off and for the season to end with clem alone again with AJ & Jane/Kenny the only surving memebers of the group.
