Do you guys want another season of The Walking Dead?

Hey guys,

So I am in the minority in that I liked A New Frontier. I think they should have developed the characters more as the only characters that I really cared about were Clementine and David and I kept trying to get Gabe and Kate killed lol. Javier was alright but I dont think he was the best choice for the main character.

So at the end when it said 'Clementines journey will continue', I literally jumped up in hype because I was expecting A New Frontier to be the last season after the backlash. I hope that if they make another season then we get to play as Clementine again.

So did anyone of you guys also like A New Frontier? And does anyone else want another season?

I liked it but not sure wanting another season !
They already cut a finger of my daughter and marked her arm by red iron !
I don't want her to be more mutilated

  • I meant "finger"
Does someone know why can't I edit my messages ?

  • I do want another season, the one that hopefully will get this series back on track.

  • Yes and no. Honestly I'm more than tired of this 2+ year wait then 2-4 month waiting period between episodes. I would be quite happy with a DLC Clementine story that is well designed.

I don't know if I want to continue. This series went downhill since Season 2 Episode 3. If the series keeps going with bad-writting, short episodes, lack of gameplay and new players attraction, I will give up on this franchise once and for all. A New Frontier is the reason I won't play any of their other licensed franchises unless they make a Season 2 for Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us. Telltale doesn't give a fuck about their fans anymore, money is their new friend.

  • Well they are a business so surely its obvious they would be making stuff for money? There not a charity

  • They make a Season 2 for Minecraft Story Mode when we asked them to do one for TFTBL and TWAU. I've clearly wasted my money on A New Frontier, I should have used them on better games than that shit.

I want to end The Walking Dead with long and good-quality episodes. While I enjoyed ANF, I don't like it to be the conclusion.

  • There's a difference between greed and profit motive. The very practices that they employ to try and make money are the ones that are responsible for their horrible sales record.

  • Sort of yes, but mostly no. I'm sort of over it. They need to wrap it up. If they go past the next season, I may stop playing.

I'm also sore over the fact that Minecraft got a Season 2 instead of Season 4 of TWD or Season 2 or TWAU or GOT. I mean, anything is better than Minecraft.

Of course they're a business and they need to make money, but as another commenter pointed out, there is a difference between greed and profit motive, and what Telltale's latest decision seem to indicate is that they lean more towards greed rather than profit motive. These decisions may lead to more money in the short term, but in the long term, it aggravates long time, loyal fans and causes them to stop supporting Telltale further, and if a business fails to have a satisfied clientele, they won't be making a profit to satisfy their greed. With attempts to bring in newcomers (which failed miserably), working on sequels no one asked for (Minecraft) and annoyingly teasing us that there may or may not be potential sequels to some of their more acclaimed games (TWAU, TFTBL), it alienates the fans from the business and grows a level of contempt towards them, and that's not how a business makes money. If you're own fanbase can't defend you, how do you expect to even attract new fans to your games? Word of mouth is the greatest, and cheapest, form of advertisement a company can have, and the word of mouth amongst fans right now is not good, and that has come as a direct result of their greed.

Kinda torn here. On the one hand, I want to see how Clem's story actually ends, and getting the chance to play as her again is kind of satisfying. As bad as it might sound, seeing that message that Clem's story will continue kind of made me go, "Alright... finally. We can leave ANF behind and get back to the real story I'd been waiting for." Despite Clem basically being the last one that I saw in From the Gallows still alive that didn't make me immediately want to shut off my computer, I'm still curious as to what she's going to do; whether that be find AJ and settle down once and for all, whether she continues to live that nomadic life and wander from place to place, and whether or not she lives or (gasp!) dies.

On the other hand... it sometimes kind of feels like I just got mugged with this latest season - punched in the gut after seeing the payoff of our season 2 endings, shaken out of my money now that I know my fave character won't be joining me, and then left on the ground with a bunch of newbies that I still feel like a complete stranger to. The Walking Dead's supposed to make you feel like shit sometimes, watching your friends and the people you've come to care for die all around you. And I get that, really. But ANF was not the way to do it. We got shown a brand new, shiny product, didn't get to delve deep enough into it, and then were shoved out the door with too many action sequences and not enough chill time.

I'm not so sure I want to feel that way again.

  • I agree with you for the most part
I also expected a continuation of season 2
But can we really blame them to do a time skip?
there was 4 different choices in season 2, meaning 4 different stories to build.
And I'm pretty sure that 4 short and different DLC until the new frontier story, wouldn't have made any of us satisfied either.
There is already enough problems with one story line , can you imagine 4?

I get that they couldn't have let the endings interfere too much with what they had planned, but I think they probably could've gone about doing so in a different, maybe more nuanced, way. If they really wanted to split Ties that Bind into two separate parts, then why not devote much more of the first part towards tailoring your ending back to the main story, focusing more heavily on Javi and his crew in part two, and then having four remaining episodes to further develop it?

If they were really wanting to keep us more focused on the New Frontier, then maybe by the end of part one (depending on the ending you picked), they could have fleshed things out more while also keeping it tied to this new story, such as:

    • A) Wellington gets raided by the New Frontier instead of some random group we never see or recognize again
    • B. Howe's gets raided by them, with Jane getting killed as a result (or captured, with us seeing her at least by episode 4 or 5)
    • C) Clem and Kenny stumble upon one of their camps, where Kenny is either killed or captured (similarly, we could see him later on)
    • D) Not entirely sure about the alone ending, to be honest. Maybe in this one she could come across Ava, who offers her refuge at their base

There've been plenty of other ideas from people on this site that go into far better detail, but you get the point. If it was just a little more substantial and actually had some more time for a proper build-up rather than just feeling like a small add-on with no real purpose behind it other than to get back to Javi's story, I think people wouldn't have been as upset by it.

I know handling four different scenarios might seem like a daunting task, but with the amount of love, care and commitment that went into previous iterations (particularly with season one), I don't think it'd be out of their reach to pull something off. This is their flagship series, and they should treat it like one.

  • Of course everyone would have liked a more developed story, and I still think that the Garcias story was too short for one season.
We surely needed 1 more season with Clem to link the end of season 2 to the new frontier story without the Garcias.
But I don't feel that Javi's story was without purpose.
This season was all about family, trust, friendship, revenge or forgivness, the need of a safe place for a family, and... legacy.
Last dialog with Javi clearly implies that it will be a place to raise AJ, if she ever finds him alive or bring him back.
They sure messed up for some parts. But it wasn't all bad like some people say.

About the writers team... they surely need some time to make the writing coherent. No doubt about that.

  • I'd like it to end on a high note. I enjoyed ANF more than most here, but that wasn't a high note. Get it back to its roots, give Clementine her own Clementine - which I think they are trying to do with AJ. And end it when it's done right.

  • They might do a DLC
Clem finding AJ and bringing back or not to Richmond
Then season 4 playing Javi as the new leader
Who knows....the wait is gonna be long....

  • I liked ANF, and yes I most certainly do want another season....and I want Clem to be the main character again.

  • I like A New Frontier too, I think that they did alright and the fans were only mad because of Kenny/Jane/Edith being so poorly written. I think that in season 4, Clem gets a flashback recapping what happened in Ties that bind flashback, then Clem waking from a nightmare, and then one of the following happen:

Kenny flashback: Clem and AJ got separated from Kenny by a wolf or two attacking they're camp and Kenny survives, getting scars of course, but Clem doesn't know he's alive.

Jane flashback: This one is tricky to rewrite without Jane fans getting mad, so Jane could get separated by a walker attack, or ditch Clem because it's too hard to take care of two kids.

Wellington: I'm thinking Clem should just hold AJ and Edith runs in a different direction by accident.

I'm thinking if we get these flashbacks in season 4, then Telltale can be forgiven. Also Edith should be a main character in season 4, she either comes in with Jane or Kenny, depending on who you ended season 2 with. It sounds dumb , but Kenny could go back to Wellington thinking Clem went there, Jane could meet Edith after the Wellington attack. And Edith meets Kenny after Wellington ending no matter what. Fans would appreciate that more than what we got.

  • Some guy copied a steam post and put on the forums. the guy said his "Telltale insider" told him that we'll get a 3 episode Clem Dlc and season 4 won't be finding AJ, he said his insider never lied to him on things before. I think that's bullshit, but I also thought Kate surviving was bullshit.

  • I didn't like ANF much tbh, but I also don't think it's as bad as people say, it's a decent game, and I do want a new season. Yes, I am afraid that it may only be another average game, or that, just like ANF to S2 and S2 to S1, it may be worse than ANF but I do want the story to continue. I just hope they have the capacity to do it without making it worse.

  • Of course! I'd rather wait for a full-length season playing as Clementine than a short, possibly crap DLC about her. As long as the story is about Clem, it's all good.

I like Javier, but he's done as a main character. This isn't his story, it's Clem's. I wouldn't mind if he shows up in Season 4 as long as he's a side character like Clem was in New Frontier.

If the rumor is true, it would make sense to make a 3 episode DLC just to find AJ

    • It would be enough for Clem to find AJ, go back to Richmond and maybe end with a cliffhanger, for example with Joan/Clint and some new frontier wanting to take over again Richmond. A normal happy ending would look strange in TWD.

    • Finding AJ dead in the ranch and hate herself and David for trusting him. We might have the choice to kill him or not if he's alive, go back to Richmond or leave alone for good. Leaving for now or forever Clem's story unknown.

    • Or not finding AJ at all in the ranch, and wonder what to do from now on. But for this one, 1 episode would be enough so...

Anyway I really hope this DLC is gonna be out before the end of the year, to appease our discontentment for this rushed season 3

  • I want more games. They can come back from the criticism. There is no end in ideas for future games, we just have to hope telltale executes them better than anf. I didn't even hate ANF, it's still better than most games to me. But it was weak in comparison to past seasons. I hope they learn from their mistakes.

  • It was 50/50 for me. But I'd rather if clem's story just ended well because she has had plenty of development. Plus if you guys want Telltale to change then don't buy the DLC or S4. So yeah don't complain if you guys Pre Order the season
