Since Javi was confirmed as Bisexual, there are a lot of questions about it...

This comes from a few posts I've seen circulating Tumblr.

But, do any of his family members know about his sexuality? Like, for example, did Javi tell David about it first before speaking to anyone else about it? Did he ever have any 'coming-out' thing to his family and friends? Did they welcome him with open arms or try to tell him "it's just a faze?" Did he struggle with his sexuality while he was a professional baseball player? We were only showed his sexuality during the finale sequence (depending on what dialogue you chose while talking with Jesus) of episode 5, I think it would be nice to have more information on what life was like for Javi pre-apocalypse (and not just his family life/relationship with David). I want to be able to learn more about our season 3 protagonist??

  • I dont think any of his family knew. Javi had been gone for so long that his bisexuality would have been a moot point. Maybe Kate knows since they were in a van together for years.

  • His family probably didn't even know. They, or David at least, would've said something from the beginning. Maybe he didn't tell them because he was afraid of how David and his Papa might react.

  • Come on not this again do he look like the type to be Bi ? lmao Remember the first trailer with Javier and clementine ? That Javier didn't look it

I don't have a problem with Javi's sexuality but it was very clearly a last minute change to his character made by the Telltale writers because they thought that flirting with Jesus would be cool. I highly doubt they put that much thought into how his sexuality has affected his life.

But to answer your question anyways, I doubt Javi told his family.

  • honestly I don't think even Javier knew himself lol. Telltale kind of just threw it in there at the last second ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • How does someone "look like the type to be bi"?

Exactly all those options with kate and stuff and at the last moment they say he is bi depending on the dialogue option you make

  • And plus it does not make sense because if kate is still alive in your ending and you choose to be with her why would javi flirt with Jesus i dont understand

That's a good point, I never actually had thought about it that way

  • We're never going to know. That's the problem with some of the more recent telltale games. Characters only get minor development and we don't know very much about what happened to them before the apocalypse.

I'm a bisexual guy, and trust me I don't look like what anyone expects to be the norm. So yeah, he could be, there's no set look for sexuality.

They announced it in last second and even Javi didnt realize that he is bisexual in whole game. That wasnt a necessary detail. No point of making him bi unless you wanna make a difference for fans and try to get fans love again for putting LGBT card. Cause it usually works.

    wrong reply mybad

Well what does a bisexual person 'look like'?

  • Being bisexual is determinant in S3 (I think so, at least), which is why it probably won't ever be explained with much detail.

  • Wait... Javi is a bisexual?
That can't be.. I played as him and I just got onto a relationship with Kate
Though that moment went he flirt Jesus is probably messing around.
When Kate asks of having a family.. you can say yes so don't think he's a bi....

  • Uhm.

Y - You do understand that bisexual means attracted to 'both sides', right? So just because he wants to settle down with Kate, that doesn't mean he's not ever gonna be interested in dudes. In the same way that a bisexual woman, who settles down with a man, doesn't necessarily rule the idea out of getting with another woman down the line.

By your logic, bisexuality doesn't exist, because either you're heterosexual or you're homosexual, because two 'bis' getting together are either two dudes, two lady dudes, or a dude and a lady dude. There's no bisexual 'gender', as it were, so people are either in heterosexual or homosexual relationships. Bisexuality just refers to the idea of being interested in batting for either team, as it were.

Like, just think what you posted through for a moment. Really give it some thought.

I don't see what the big fuss is about. They're bisexual, so what? It's nothing to be special about it's just a sexual orientation. What I question more than this is how lob-sided the relationships is between Javier and Jesus. It's basically at the end of the game and what's more so is that it's the player decision to go to that route, not actually Javier himself since you control their actions.

  • Ffs how does being Bi mean your Oberyn Martell, just because he's bi doess't mean he's going to cheat on Kate. Why do you have to be such an ignorant moron?

  • Not to be homophobic or anything but when javier was confirmed bi a screamed and cried internally. But it was because I spent the whole season flirting with Kate, and I even flirted with Eleanor in episode 1, while mostly arguing back with characters when they start on javi (like telling Tripp to shut his mouth and Conrad to back off despite liking them) but if someone starts on me for no reason I would also be like "stfu". But now that they said javier likes guys too... buuuut the story is tailored by how you play, remember ;3 ;3 I didn't flirt with Jesus soooo javi is not bi in my game, boom fucked telltale at its own game.

  • My question is why did they so badly want Javier to be bisexual that they went as far as making Jesus cheat on Aron just to show it

  • edited July 2017

I don't think even the writers know, because they pulled Javi's sexuality out of their asses in the last five minutes.

  • Because anf takes place before/during the 2 year time skip and Jesus' relationship with Aaron takes place after the time skip.

My question is why did they so badly want Javier to be bisexual that they went as far as making Jesus cheat on Aron just to show it

  • Does it even matter anyways? who cares? its not like it changes the character in any meaningful way

  • Choosing not to flirt with Jesus doesn't erase Javi's bisexuality, it's canon.

  • It more feels like Telltale made this up in the last second so Javier is more... interesting I guess? Nobody cares though.

  • There is a choice to flirt or not to flirt, just like there are choices to like a character or to hate and constantly argue with that character. I can choose to be nice to Conrad but the meaner options wouldn't mean anything. So saying javier being a bisexual is canon no matty what the player chooses is like comparing javier's different preferences he can have, it's one way or the other. For me, I deflected jesus' flirt by saying rad armor. You can even see in javi's face that he is really confused when Jesus realises he was not flirting back.

  • People don't choose their sexuality like they choose what to say in a conversation. What a weird comparison! Even us bisexuals aren't into everybody we meet, your Javi just didn't like Jesus that way.

  • Oh here we go. They're both decisions, you either choose to be a certain type of person or not. There is no difference, javier can either choose to be a huge asshole or not. They both determine what kind of person he is, so Indonnot want my javier to be bi because of how I played the game with him, and that is my opinion.

    Totally agree.
    This is bull shit.
Just because a new writer was thinking 'hey being bi is cool, so let's make Javier bi' out of nowhere.
    Immature writing.

  • At the beginning of every episode they tell us that the story is tailored by how we play. Somebody's sexuality adds to their backstory, and I chose not to flirt back with Jesus. This is why Instill believe javier is determinantly bi.
