    Go After Gabe & David come on guys look at what Gabe says at 4:20, forgive this poor kid already! ;-;

  • Blimey, first time I saw this scene. Completely forgot it existed.

Havent looked this video through, but I think its here: Depending on how much of the scene you want to see, Javi fights a bunch of walkers before this, but its pretty boring

  • That's poor reasoning for his actions.

  • Yep. I wish his death wasn't determinant.

  • Little rat snitch bastard..fuck him.

    Little rat snitch bastard..fuck him.

  • During the Episode 5 overpass scene when he speaks with Javi I kind of changed my mind and thought there's a good kid in there but he's hormonal and trying to take charge and "be the man" and that's why he acts like an idiot. When he lets that shit go in episode 5 and talks with Javi honestly I think it really opened my eyes and I forgave him for more of his dumb behavior. He's just a kid and it's the reason why I never hated Duck or even Sarah. We all forget if it weren't for Lee, Clem might just be a slightly extraordinary girl that likely would've died in her treehouse. And most of the parents tried to block off the kids from the world and it led to their downfall. Duck was pretty much in complete denial about everything and Kenny and Kat kept him that way. Carlos was completely keeping Sarah in the dark because of her presumable PTSD. But it just doesn't work and the sooner they realize it, the more likely they'd be to survive. Gabe was in the middle. He was half blocked off and half aware and I think by the end of the season he was pretty well aware of what the world is now but depending on your choices it might've been too late.

I think it's another reason why Clementine is "the light" or however Ava put it. She adapted remarkably young and that's why she's years ahead of some adults.

So if that was tl:dr, no I don't hate Gabe and I think all he needed was proper guidance and awareness and to move past his damn hormones.

  • Pfffft like you wouldn't fuck up in a zombie apocalypse, hell I would probably fuck up too....

I mean come on let's be real here, if we were in a zombie apocalypse I'm pretty sure we'd all be dead or we'd all be Ben, Sarah, or Gabe

  • Well, he is dead in my game so I dont have to care :D

  • Probably the most well made scene in the entire season (at least in my opinion)

Blimey, first time I saw this scene. Completely forgot it existed.

  • Don't even try arguing about Gabe I tried fucking failed

I don't understand you still hate him? He got a lot more mature, a lot more smarter, and a lot more tougher I don't understand why you hate him still....

  • There's no way to change peoples mindset when it comes to Gabe

Don't even try arguing about Gabe I tried fucking failed

  • About time another user acknowledged how it's unlikely any of us would be much better.

I don't hate the kid, but I dislike his character, even after the finale.

If he was written more like Sam from Last of Us, then I'd change my opinion on him.

  • He's a very flawed character, but I believe that his strengths outweigh his weaknesses. He can be reckless but also very brave, he can be stubborn but can still learn from his mistakes, and he can complain a lot but it's because he has a strong moral center.

Plus David is dead and Kate vanished in my game, so he truly is the only family that Javi has until Kate shows up again. I like the Rick/Carl dynamic that they have.

  • Damn right. I wished that Clem had the opportunity to put a bug on his pillow instead of kissing him.

The difference(which applies to most characters, not just Gabe) is that Kenny, on top of being a major character bordering on main from Season One, is a grown family man who received more focus than almost every other character, had numerous supporting characters to support him and/or provide conflicts that he usually overcame, and was constantly given chances to show himself as a character that can be "badass," funny, and heartfelt.

Gabe, despite actually being a fairly similar character when you think about it, was at several immediate disadvantages from the start due to being a member of multiple demographics that have mostly been negatively portrayed and/or received before. The fact that later episodes tended to give him scenes that mostly served to further irritate both the haters and some of his supporters over scenes that actually developed his viewpoint in a positive manner didn't help.

Honestly, I think it comes down to him snitching about Conrad. It's one of the things that is like, "WTF? I saved your life, and you're trying to screw me over for that?" I did hate Gabe after that. Then, my next game, I played always disagreeing with him (and Clem and David for that playthrough), and I found him much more agreeable. But I also let Conrad live in that one. So, he never snitched on me.

At least for me, I think the hate came from the busting you out over Conrad.

EDIT: After several playthroughs, I don't hate him anymore. Wasn't sure if I made that clear in my original post.

I find it a little weird people seem to be hating more on Gabe then Conrad, I get it he snitched on you but Conrad was the one who threatened to shoot one of Javi's family members ._.

  • I assume people like Conrad more because he's a determinant character who can live through the end of the game.

  • I think it's because Gabe is Javier's nephew, which makes his attitude in Episode 4 all the worst when a living relative of yours snitches you out to everyone over a murder to save said nephew's life.

It doesn't help that Gabe appears to be more upset about Conrad being killed by his uncle, when he was the one to call his uncle a coward if he chooses to not shoot Conrad and agree to use his new friend as a bargaining chip for Richmond.

  • Which by itself is a poor reason to like a character, imo

Part of that is because Conrad was intended to be something of a Token Evil Teammate among the Supporting Cast, with his sympathetic reasons for pursuing his goal while helping everyone else being contrasted by just how far he was willing to go. Those who disagreed with his methods could kill him on the spot when he becomes overly dangerous, while those who did agree saw him eventually recognize that he was in the wrong and work to distance himself from that behavior, even determinately getting killed in the process. His antagonism made since because that's how he was temporarily being portrayed and the fact that we see less of him as the installment goes on means there's more time for his positive aspects to sink in.

Gabe, on the otherhand, was clearly intended to be more of a heroic upstart who really wants to do what's right despite being a little rough around the edges genetically speaking. And as I stated in a recent post here, the automatically biased-against teenage boy probably got more scenes where he's angry and/or making a fuss than scenes where he's shown in an unambiguously positive light in the latter half. That Season 2-esque scene specifically railroads a lot of people into being angry because they're being punished for making a single choice rather than a number of choices involving him. And it kinda borders on BLAM since not only does it make little logical sense both from a gameplay perspective and for his characterization, but it really is just there for the sake of easy drama that honestly isn't even played up much after that point. Clementine and especially Kate in particular never really comment on it despite their close relationships with the two.

  • i was slightly annoyed by him at the start but i started to like him later on since unlike ´´Fuck up´´ type characters he actually got to try to redeem himself unlike Ben who while having great scenes in season 1 episode 5 he never got to redeem himself like he wanted to making his character arc kind of incomplete for me and Nick is 10 times guiltier of that with his horrible determinant portrayal.

Gabe is a very complex character I think telltale made him like that on purpose.
