Do You Still Hate Gabe? (ANF Discussion)

So Gabe finally redeems himself in Episode 5 and can live in Episode 5 if you make the right choice but do you guys still hate him?
I love him even more now....

  • Yes, not on a moral level but more in how horribly schizophrenic his character is written.

  • I feel like its hard to judge, since his character seems really inconsistent, but as someone who has hated Gabe for the entire season, and had only Gabe survive, I am satisfied, David had a nice emotional death scene, where he finally became the father he wanted to be, and Kate died offscreen but I dont give a single fuck about Kate, Gabe was actually enjoyable this episode, for the first time ever

  • I didn't exactly hate him after EP5 but I didn't felt enough for him to really feel tear.

  • I was actually sad when he died in my game.

I don't hate him as much as before, but I wouldn't say he's one of my favorite characters this season. His death was sad af but felt so right to me, especially after Clem kisses him before he dies (determinant).

  • I don't hate him (Didn't kill Conrad) but he was kindve all over the place and it felt like Telltale really didn't know what to do with his character.

  • I wanted to beat the fuck out of him for most of the game, but I'll admit seeing him die, my throat incredibly hurts. No kid deserves that.

  • Absolutely. What on Earth were they trying to do with him? I didn't really care much about wanting to kill him or beat him up like a lot of his other haters but man he was a terrible character from start to finish. No real character arc either apart from being this Schizophrenic dude.

  • Automobiles and kids doesn't mix well in the Walking Dead.

  • His death in 5 was sad to watch, but that doesn't eclipse the fact that he was a total shithead for 4 and a half episodes.

  • Isn't that the truth.

Automobiles and kids doesn't mix well in the Walking Dead.

  • Eh I forgave him, he's a fuck-up but I think he learnt his lesson by now and plus he wasn't a huge pain in EP5, in my playthrough at least.

  • I gained complete respect for him when he proved himself capable of actually shooting himself I was like, woah dafuq? he's only 14 jesus christ

  • How do I get the outcome where he dies as u guys are talking about where he redeems himself and so on. Please tell me. The only way I feel I can remotely like this character and his part in this season is if he dies/plays the martyr at the end.

  • Nah, he was a good man (and yes, I considered him a 'man' rather than a 'boy') at the end. He stepped up

  • He dies if both Clem and Javi go with Kate to help save Richmond.

  • Sadly he remained dissapointing in my game. Continuing to fuck up almost every chance he got. Gabe got David killed in my playthrough and I just couldn't support the shit relationship between him and Clem.

  • His death scene would've been much sadder if they kept the euchre cards outta this, it seemed so out-of-place I fricking cringed.

While I found him to be pretty annoying in episodes 1-3, I started to warm up to him for episodes 4 and 5. (Btw, I didn't murder Conrad, so that's probably why.)

  • Well he redeemed himself, he got a lot more mature, a lot more smarter, and a lot more tougher so you should like him now

His death in 5 was sad to watch, but that doesn't eclipse the fact that he was a total shithead for 4 and a half episodes.

  • I do still hate him, thanks for asking. He was dying on my screen and I didn't know how to react. I couldn't be happy because that's just cruel. I definitely wasn't sad for him. So I just awkwardly waited for the scene to be over while Javi was sad for both of us

  • I don't understand you still hate him? He got a lot more mature, a lot more smarter, and a lot more tougher I don't understand why you hate him still....

    I never hated him. :p
Seriously one of my favorites this season.

I hear quite a few people that hated Gabe was affected by his death scene pretty emotionally.

  • No to all of the things you listed about Gabe. It was a complete inconsistent 180 in character that was really just a cheap way to make Gabe likeable, it's not natural character progression or development, it's sloppy writing.

    Gabe will always suck.

  • Clem, I'm dying... Quick, take my cards which are literally everything that is left of me, remember when we shared that one moment together when we played cards for like 30 seconds? Seriously, he could've told her anything else than that, it felt forced and totally ruined it for me. He had a goddamn crush on her, he could've told her that or something, say something she would remember.

Who thinks about playing cards when dying? It's weird enough he even had them in his pocket, I wonder if he had spare bullets instead he wouldn't have died.

  • I never outright hated him. He was annoying, and a little shit sometimes, but what kid isn't?

  • Yep. I don't think he really did prove himself. Sure, having himself pull the trigger at the end is a brave move, I'll give him that, but from my perspective, he really didn't do anything to earn being a man. Hell, he didn't really do anything to earn an emotional death. No tears were shed, no fucks were given on my part, I was more than happy to see him bite the big one.

  • Shitbird finally realised he was a shitbird, good enough for me.

  • I thought he was ok, I forgave him for everything he did, but then this happened.

And I went straight back to hating him.

  • Telltale was like: "ohh so you guys want him to die? Fine then, here comes the FEELS TRAIN!!!"

  • Did you choose the Kenny ending in season 2?

  • Oh, that's explain the kiss.

    Yes

  • She didn't kiss him in mine, Gabe didn't even die. They just hugged at the end and then Clem left.

Just knowing it happens enrages me.

  • No it doesn't, because I had the Kenny ending and she didn't kiss him.

Never did hate him. I'm upset to see what happened to him for me, but man was he a trooper to the end. RIP little buddy.

  • Ohhhhh I get it now. Kenny ending: hug.
    Jane ending: kiss.
Alone with AJ: just hands together.

No it doesn't, because I had the Kenny ending and she didn't kiss him.

  • Can I ask how you keep Gabe alive? lol Did you killed Conrad during episode 2?
