Multiple Endings or Just 1 For Season 4

I've seen this talked about all over the comments on other threads so I thought that it would be nice to have everyone's thoughts on this in one place. I personally want multiple endings for season 4.

  • There should be as many endings as possible. It's the final season with Clem so it's the last chance to remedy ANF and let us choose what person Clem should become.

  • I think that since the game is in the universe as the comics, it would just be easier for Kirkman to write it in somehow... but one ending is fucking stupid.

  • As a long-time advocate of one, straightforward ending, the prospect of choosing who Clem should become has caused me to change my mind. Well done.

  • Since it's a game based on choices, it should have multiple endings.

  • I want multiple endings, preferably endings like ANF that depend on more than just one choice. I'd like to see who she is with and where she ends up to be determinant.

  • From the game standpoint alone, I want as many as they can realistically do, since this is the "final" season they should pull out all of the stops and really try to make all of the choices matter and add up differently for everyone.

However, a small part of me wants them to do one definitive ending, which could open up the potential of Clementine joining in with the comics (of course she'd have to be pretty vague about her past).

Given I'm not following the comics too closely since I'm more of a tv show/video game kinda guy, but I think it's a cool idea if they were to execute it properly.

  • Being the last game, I would like multiple endings, since there wont be a continuation, the game that should not have had multiple endings was season 2

  • That isn't going to happen, Telltale is going to give Clem closure and Clem already has 4 different determinant markings which means Kirkman would have to canonize one of the s2 endings.

  • The way I see things there might be 5 endings:
1.Clem decides to stay at the Ranch with AJ and the person/people who took care of him.
2.Clem decides to leave the Ranch with AJ and go somewhere else(with or without the person/people who took care of him).
3.Clem decides to leave the Ranch with AJ and go back to the Garcias(with or without the person/people who took care of him).
4.Clem decides to leave AJ at the ranch and go somewhere else.
5.Clem decides to leave AJ at the ranch and go back to the Garcias.

  • If one ending is fucking stupid, S1's ending is fucking stupid for you? One well-written ending is better than ten badly written endings.

  • Actually in season 1 you have the choice to shoot him or not. Clem can have a sweater or not. Lee can be missing an arm or have both. Lee can be handcuffed or not. Season 1 has some variation at the end. I'm saying it'd be stupid for just 1 being with no choice at all.

  • Nah I am growing weary of a dozen nonsense endings. Seems like the more you cook up the sillier they become. Yes everyone has their own ideas but if this is the series finale then the top conclusion should be like an amalgamation of the previous endings and choices. Perhaps the tone of the ending can be slightly altered like the shoot Lee or not choice, Clem with hoodie or not. But still one unified well written fateful ending. Another soup bowl of determinate mess is bit of turn off when nothing is suppose to follow
    after.

Walking Dead final season concluded a decade ago and it's 2029. I would rather look back while playing my PlayStation 5 and say wow that ending as sadly moving as season 1 ending versus asking strangers or coworkers whoever.... well which of the 9 mediocre endings did you get way back then? which of the 20 people did you follow back to their camp with a forever unknown fate? " "

If Clem just runs off with another group of strangers then it's not all that different than the previous seasons. If she walks off alone with an unknown fate then it's not all that different than previous seasons. If she returns back to Richmond with AJ in one arm and bitten in the other or neck then it's not all that different than season 1 ending .. BUT this is an ending with emotional closure atleast.. that could be written well convincingly and logically. A sealed fate is more satisfying than a forever unknown open ended one to me atleast.

  • I might be the minority here but I'd like to see only 1 ending for Clem because:

    • If multiple we MIGHT get Dead Clem or Alive Clem, in which the MAJORITY of players will definitely choose the alive
    • No point of multiple endings in terms of choices that will affect the next season unless we'll get a new season with somebody that is related to the current story

    • Might give a more focused and well thought single ending

    • Can have a more emotional ending similar to S1 since again, its a more focused ending

This is not really main point but:

    • Everyone is in the same boat and can feel the same with other players during and after the ending.

But dont get me wrong, I'm still up for a multiple ending it's just that I want to see a single ending more than multiple endings considering this is the final season or just the finale of Clem's story. If telltale went with this, all i ask is: GIVE ME MAH BOI JAVI AND BASEBALL LESSONS SHIT

  • I'd rather have 1-2 endings, no more than that. Having more than 2 endings at this point will be ridiculous. It wouldn't matter which ending you get because in the end, it's the Final Season of Clementine. There won't be a next season that'll be affected by your ending.

As for what the 2 ending should be, it should be the choice of either returning to Richmond or finding another community. The fan base is split between wanting to return to Richmond and not wanting to go back. Me personally, I wouldn't go back.

  • ... that's the same ending with a few variations, yes.

If they had 10 completely different endings, there's no doubt about it that some would be better written than others. If you're saying that there should be one well written ending with some variations like S1 (but more variations), then I'd agree.

  • well that s exactly the reason why we should get several endings with even meeting missing characters while they re at it because this is the final Game so they dont need to worry about writing another story for those endings so they can just go fully insane and have stuff like Clem going alone and finding Christa or Kenny/ having an ending where you go back to Richmond and Deny/Accept a relationship with Gabe if he s alive/ just go out alone but still pass in Richmond ocasionally like what she apparently did with Prescott/an ending where Clem dies/ whatever the hell telltale comes up with.

I'd say multiple, maybe not as MANY as Season Two but if this is gonna be the final season it'd be cool if we could change how we want Clem's story to end. I know it's a long shot, but I hope it's possible we could get a somewhat happy ending.

  • I'd prefer seeing multiple endings, but please for the love of fuck, the ending we get should depend on the choices we'll make throughout the season, not from one choice that has the most impact. I mean, it's the last season. Telltale should actually do that and stop being lazy.

  • I want multiple endings. Honestly, I think Season 2 did its endings right. They felt different all could have been satisfying conclusions to Clem's story. Since there is no Season 5, they can go crazy with the way the endings work and give us some truly different endings.

I would be happy for a single ending if it's good. I worry about this because the two ways that feels most likely also seems the least satisfying. 1) Clem dies, probably saving AJ. It'll feel at best like trying to copy what made Season 1 so great without realizing significant differences (Clem was a well-developed character, AJ is a baby who due to his age can't have a character being the biggest one). At worst, it will feel cheap emotional manipulation ("we killed off a character you like, now feel sad and tell us how great we are"). Just because anyone could die, doesn't mean they should. Game of Thrones is a good example. Early on, the deaths meant something and had reasons that were built up to even if you didn't see them coming. Later seasons, it just feels like most deaths are for pure shock value (Dorne, the sept). 2) Return to the Garcias. Funny thing is I like the Garcias. I stand by the claim that A New Frontier would have been stronger without Clementine. But I don't like them being forced together. And I'll pick returning to Richmond if it is a choice in at least one of my playthroughs.

Now, don't get me wrong. If these are done awesomely, I will be happy. If Clem's death feels more satisfying that Lee's I will be ecstatic. If going back to Richmond is good enough, I'll be happy. Unfortunately, I don't see either of those working out.
