The Walking Dead VS Life Is Strange...

If you have played Life Is Strange and The Walking Dead, there is a huge difference between writing, character development, episode lengths, big puzzles and hubs/Interaction. Hate to say this but Life Is Strange has all of this, The Walking Dead used to have this but after Season 1, it just went downhill... Here’s hoping that The Finale Season of The Walking Dead will hit me as hard as Life Is Strange did. Comparing LIF to TWD ANF, I mean, come on, you know what one is a masterpiece and what one is garbage! For me TWD has just been going downhill, after releasing ANF, I have no hope for The Finale Season. With LIF Before The Storm just releasing, it looks promising as ever. I want Square Enix & Dontnod to make TWD Games from now on as they know how to make a phenomenal game. So for me Life Is Strange is on-top of The Walking Dead. Just remember I love The Walking Dead Season 1 that was a brilliant game to remember about. I just feel like TWD Games are now dragging, hate to say this as I am a huge WD Game fan! What do you think about TWD and LIF as a hole and what differences does each game have, with it’s positives and negatives? This is just my opinion...

    Can't disagree with you there.

Comparing LIF to TWD ANF, I mean, come on, you know what one is a masterpiece and what one is garbage!

Both are garbages, how about that? No one will convince me which is worse and which is better because I hate both of these games.

TWD has just been going downhill, after releasing ANF, I have no hope for The Finale Season

    Same here.

With LIF Before The Storm just releasing, it looks promising as ever.

It never did look promising since it's a spin-off game of a character everyone chose to sacrifice in the main game. To me, the voice acting is worse and I already hate this Rachel character. Sure, it had great length and more gameplay content but the character development is awful.

I want Square Enix & Dontnod to make TWD Games

You want them to turn Clementine into a grumpy teenager with bad accent? I. DON'T. THINK. SO!!!

they know how to make a phenomenal game

They sure know how to make a lot of plot points that went NOWHERE and endings that solve nothing.

What do you think about TWD and LIF as a hole and what differences does each game have, with it’s positives and negatives?

    Easy.

Life is Strange is full of grumpy teenagers who can't act for shit. Dontnod developers don't know how a student life is like. It's fucking overrated. And I could never stand playing as Max Caulfield and listen to a bitch she never should have been friends with in the first place, Chloe Price, I'll never understand why people chose to save a terrible character over a defenseless town.

The Walking Dead has much better characters, voice-acting and facial/movement animations. Nothing can beat what made TWD Season 1 such a successful game.

Life Is Strange is on-top of The Walking Dead

That's fine. If you like shitty games I hate, I will not stop you cause it's none of my business.

Sorry but you hella lost me there.

  • I don't understand why everybody likes LIS so much. Chloe is so annoying and ungrateful if I was Max I would've dropped her as a friend. Rachel has huge anger issues. The characters were never all the and were annoying. Max, Joyce, and Warren were some exceptions. I still to this day don't understand how somebody could sacrifice Arcadia Bay for Chloe. Chloe was destined to die. The game was cringey and predictable.

Life is Strange was a fantastic game but for me the Walking Dead season 1 is incomparable... I mean it's one of the best games i've ever played in my life maybe even THE best. I'd put Life is Strange around the same level as Season 2.

there is a huge difference between writing, character development, episode lengths, big puzzles and hubs/Interaction

Absolutely. I really liked the attention to detail. I have to say i'm not really looking forward to Before the Storm though. I mean Chloe already said what happened, we know Chloe's personality, I don't feel like we have to see and play through it.

I want Square Enix & Dontnod to make TWD Games from now on as they know how to make a phenomenal game.

That would be great. Hopefully they would be making more games like Life is Strange. I can think of a few other series i'd like to see them make as well. A Harry Potter game would be great.

  • TWD, no contest. ANF sucked, but it's S1 levels of quality compared to the disaster that is LiS.

  • edited September 2017

I agree that TWD has gone downhill since S1 but I would still play any TWD game over LIS.

Personally I didn't like the writing in LIS it felt like it was aimed at young teens; Not just the characters (Chloe, Kate, the murderer person, ugh) but the twists too (one of them involving a wheelchair was just laughable).

Also the fixed camera angles of TWD are so much better than LIS's basic over-the-shoulder camera.

Even the bad TWD games I can replay, but I never want to touch LIS again.

    All IMO.

Season 1 of TWDG is definitely better than LiS. IMO, Season 2 is slightly better than LiS, I found LiS to be pretty boring, unskippable very long scenes compared to Walking Dead, not really my type.

But I certainly would play it over A New Frontier. That is just pure garbage.

Did you even read what I said below? I said that I don't care if you like video games I hate.

My opinion, no need to get angry about it, is there?

The first TWD was awsome... the first LiS-- kinda. It was enjoyable, I liked playing it, and I found the story interesting. Most characters (speacially Kate) were perfectly writen and I loved the voice acting and the use of colors for symbolism (as well as all the other symbolisms). However, the endings were awful, Jeffershit is probably the worst villian I've seen, I was stuck with a sidekick I hated when I only wanted Kate, the dialogs were cringy as fuck (ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah?), and Max...

    Oh, Max.

    I fucking hate Max.

Ok,I don't hate her, I kinda miss her right now. But goddamn, she was the Bella Swan of videogames! 've never seen such a shallow personality in a character that was supposed to have personality! Specially the protagonist! We're told she's a shy and awkard hipster that loves art and blablablaaa but we never see her nervous when talkling to someone unknown, we never see her stutter, or do hipster stuff, or have philosophic thoughts about art. Actually, we're never told how Max is, we're told what she likes. She's bland and hollow, I couldn't stand her. I'm afraid it may have been intentional so people put themselves better in her place. And it worked! I couldn't tell Max apart from me because I filled every empty spaces (and oh, there were so many empty spaces) with myself. Was it a good idea? Definetly no.

But I'm lying, there is ONE character that is even worse than her: Season 2 Clementine. God, could you have less personality? Even the voice acting had no personality! What happened, Meli!?!? I think this was also intentional, so that we coud define her personality enterily. And when she grew up and HAD an actual personality, she was worse than Blue Chloe.

But it turns out, now we have Golden Chloe. She's far less bitchy, less cringy, less arrogant, less "Shaka Brah", more thankful and sensitive. I could relate to her way better than with Max, because better than filling the spaces yourself, is the character being like you.

Man, I even had conversartions like these! I remember me and three friends were in the woods looking for the owl that killed my cat (y'know, the normal. It happens in this mountains). We would either kill the owl or some chimangos that were there (it's a pity we only have parrots in summer, they're way better than chimangos). So we were there talking shit like any 12 years old and I found this dead baby horse and I was like "Cool! A horse skeleton!" And we started to take salfies with it. I wanted to take its skull and put it in my wall, but I didn't want to die so I decide agains it. It was awsome. But then two of these guys saidn they needed to bring a camera and they went running to their home (they're siblings). So I was left alone with gasp My Crush to make sure the horse didn't go away (because, its notmal, dead horses go away when you don't look at them. We're smart). And I wanted to start a conversation and I said "Uh, it's nice!" and she was like "...What is nice?" and I said: "...the horse?"

I told my crush a dead baby horse was nice and THAT'S WHAT MADE ME SAY "THIS IS MY CHLOE" Because while I related with Max because I was forced to and we only shared minor thins like out taste for art and shit (she doesn't even take good photos goddamit max yeah keep taking photos from eye lever it's not like we see literally everything from eye level what about climbing a tree or crouching down goddammit max learn to take photos and DON'T USE FUCKING FLASH FOR FUCK'S SAKE and WHY AREN'T YOU ALWAYS CHECKING THE SPEED OF THE THING, HOWEVER IT'S CALLED IN ENGLISH AND THE WIDTH OF THE THING THAT OPENS AND CLOSES, HOWEVER YOU CALL IT EN INGLÉS AKJFBHÑJSQKEHGDÑIHNDAKLN) I related with Chloe to a deeper level. She's like me, she's going through the same things I'm going through. I can relate with her personality, not only her tastes.

GO GOLDEN CHLOE I LUV U

Comparing LiS with TWD is not fair, because while LiS is getting better, TWD is going to hell. It's not the same.

  • I don't really get the two extremes people go for when it comes to Life is Strange. Personally I feel like it's just kind of competently okay. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. It didn't do anything particularly new or interesting, and only had it's story going for it, which was pretty average anyway.

  • I haven't experienced any of Life is Strange outside of memes and other things. So I have no room to speak or think either way.

  • Comparing LIF to TWD ANF, I mean, come on, you know what one is a masterpiece and what one is garbage!

I wouldn't call ANF a masterpiece, but I will say that Life Is Strange was indeed garbage.

  • Without TWD S1, LIS wouldn't exist. Adventure game weren't popular at all until TWD. (sorry Sam and max fans but it's true) TWD changed adventure games forever and is the most revolutionary adventure game of this generation.

  • Is there some kind of rivalry between Life is Strange and Walking Dead fans?

  • Brilliant for stupid reasons I would say.

  • Cheers, and right there you've just shit on my opinion. Well fuck you then. I didn't have a problem with you hating LIS but when i say i like it for many reasons you go and say brilliant for stupid reasons. Well let me tell you why i liked it:

I related to the character Chloe a lot, not her personality or image or whatever but because i lost my dad in similar circumstances. 5 years ago it was. Seeing her mourning for him and the scenes it showed just how much she missed him (especially in the new LIS Before The Storm). I liked the relationship between Max and Chloe be it romantic or not didn't matter to me, the overall story got me very interested for the upcoming episodes like the storm hitting the bay, would Rachel Amber ever turn up, the whole nutty Nathan Prescott character etc. I didn't find the teenagers annoying, i thought it was quite accurate. Again my opinion.

I would go on, but knowing you you'll probably stop reading after the first paragraph. Have a good morning/afternoon/evening Aron and thanks again for saying my reasons are stupid before you even heard them.

You are entitled to your opinion but i disagree. Chloe was a very troubled girl and it spiraled out of control after her dad died and i can relate because i lost my dad 5 years ago and it took me a long time to get over it, i became very reclusive and depressed. Chloe's mourning phase was obviously shown to be angry and rebellious. I sympathise with her to be honest. I also didn't think the game was cringey or predictable but again you are welcome to your views

  • Hey, this has nothing to do with your opinion. If you like LiS, that's fine by me. I didn't tell you you have poor taste on video games.

If we use the latest installment of LiS as reference, the game is filled with content, from the diary, to the text messages, to the outfit select, to the graffiti hunt, etc.; it has an outstanding atmosphere; the game is 90% hubs filled with stuff to do and collect, which makes this feel like a game as much as an interactive story; it has interesting, layered characters, both main and side characters with clear thought out archs that are obviously going somewhere; and finally, the game leaves subtle hints for future events, characters and plot points literally everywhere, and I've always appreciated well-done foreshadowing.

And I'm literally only half way through episode one, "Awake". I haven't been this immersed in a game in a long time.

You can't claim one of the above if you're talking about ANF.

    Enough said.
