Just saw this and thought it was pretty cool it’s basically a remastered version but it looks better. I have all the seasons on Xbox but honestly I might rebuy this but on my PS4 it would be nice to replay everything.
It might actually be worth buying. I think it's Telltale getting ready for the final season and it's actually a good sign. This collection suppose to draw new players in, which gives me hope that the final season will finally be not for the newcomers
It looks really good, I've been wanting an updated S1 for a long time. My only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a PC release? The PC version is still using the 2012 graphics. I hope they make it available for Steam.
Holy shit a reason to come back to the TWD section. This looks really good as a remaster, and I'd totally buy it (were it not for ANF being included ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)), but you gotta appreciate Telltale doing what a lot of "Collections" fail at, they added EVERYTHING. Things like the Silent Hill HD collection, Budokai HD collection and various others all lie when they call it a collection, because after all it's usually just 2 of the numerous games with very slight graphical upgrades. But Telltale added everything from the entire Walking Dead mythos AND remastered it, and I think that's pretty cool. Nice work, telltale.
Interesting. Looks good, don't know if I'll buy it (I already have all the seasons on PS4)
...We'll see.
Edit: I will say, however, that this kinda sucks for old and current buyers. We don't know if every version will get an update, so so far it looks to be exclusive to this collection. This means that if you want the "definitive edition" of the series you need to make sure you get the right bundle.
There are currently 3 bundles for current consoles that include The Walking Dead:
The Telltale Mega Collection (all Telltale games from TWD S1 to Batman S2 [strangely, not including Minecraft] -- includes TWD1, 2, Mich., 3) 173$ CAD
The Telltale Games Collection (from TWD to TFTB -- includes TWD1, 2) 110$ CAD
The Telltale Undead Survival Bundle (TWD1, 2, Mich. and 7DTD) ~74$ CAD was on sale last week for ~35$
So... The pricing for this is uncertain, given that this is the first bundle with ANF included... Hard to tell what that might add to the price since it's still the same price now as it was when it came out. No free first episode or anything.
Hmm, surprised they did that, even though those game are already released digitally in the console stores. Not gonna buy it cause I already own them all except Michonne. It's a great remaster though, Season 1 using S2 graphics but why didn't they do this instead of making A New Frontier completely for the new players?
Also I heard that Gary Whitta, the story writer of Season 1 Episode 4 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is coming back to write Season 4. That is awesome, even though Episode 4 was kind of weak and slow.
Really disappointed in this, They should have enhanced it with ANF Graphics, But no lets go the cheap route and just Res it up. The Game really doesn't look that different TBH and is a complete Rip off. i know i'm going to get a lot of Hate on that because most people seem to be blind and love to get Ripped off
I've bought a few remasters over the years that've done things like this with improving the textures and lightning, like Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0 on the PS3 [but not that god awful one for Silent Hill 2 & 3]. But news on this is welcomed, particularly for Season 1 with it being the oldest and the enhancements that can be made to the graphics on that. It'd be great if they were able to add in the white light spots in the characters eyes into Season 1 too, since they only started doing that in 400 Days and onwards, but if not it's still good seeing this being done. I hope they release more comparison shots soon.
....
Soooo, can they enhance the frozen l-lake and make it less breakable?

I don't think it's intended for players whom own everything already. Sure, for those where money isn't an issue, would buy it just because the disc copies won't require you to download all the games on your system, but I think this is mainly for those whom only played a season or have just been a bit interested in the games.
Some newer adult gamers only have a current gen system and perhaps downloading full games isn't an option. Now they get to play them. There have been a lot of remastered games lately and I haven't justified the purchase of any of them....but they still keep coming. As for how much they've been remastered has other factors involved. Games still have limitations. There is only so much you can do without completely remaking the game. Bioshock did remasters and they don't look that much different.
Did they do all they can do? Did they just go a simpler route? We don't know. Only the people working on it or are familiar with the engine do. It's hard to criticize when we don't have the information.

I have a few reservations with the remaster of S1. Objectively speaking, it is an upgrade, but from what I’ve seen it kind of misses the mark when it comes to the aesthetic and some of the lighting. Old S1 had this lightish grey aesthetic that made the atmosphere feel foreboding and creepy. I feel the lighting in the remaster is a tad too bright and that sort of misses the point of the original, where almost every environment, even in daytime, was somewhat darker than it needed to be. It was to try and give you that feeling that the characters were interacting in an unfamiliar and somewhat hostile world.
Also not a big fan of the different color palette, as the point of most of the colors being drab and dulled out in the original was because the world was dying around you and losing its tranquil beauty. I know Telltale went this route to remain consistent with the color pallets of the sequels, but I didn’t even care for that either as I’ve always felt it sort of took away quite a bit from the atmosphere.
The only thing that looks like a genuine step up so far is adding more “junk” to the areas that always felt inert previously.
Woah. This actually looks really great. Judging by the screenshots (haven't watched the trailer yet). I love the new lighting style, it looks a lot more like a comic book now.

Funny. This(atmosphere) is my reservation about horror in HD. Older horror movies look terrible on Blu-ray(as a general rule. Certain films that are meticulously fixed, like Alien, are excused). Horror films are ones that I actually seek out DVDs instead.

That would require remaking the game from the ground up.
But no lets go the cheap route and just Res it up
... It's also not just higher res textures? Models have been replaced, the lighting is completely different, more clutter and flora has been added to the environments, and it seems to be running on the updated engine based off of the light reflecting off the metal grates with the clip in the sewer, so it'll probably run better.
is a complete Rip off .
How is it a rip off? It's every game so far in a $50 bundle that's clearly targeted at new players.

Here’s my problem: I already had TWD season 1 and 2 on PS3 but I decided to buy it for PS4 anyway since I tought they were great games (the first one, at least) and that they deserved my money. Turns out, I bought the “shitty version” (full of bugs and with not so great graphics) ‘cause years later TT releases the epic new remastered version (for the same device!) with no patch available for the owners of the old version.
So, I, and old and loyal customer of TT who preordered every single Telltale game since TWD1 (with the exception of Minecraft and GOTG), and some of them even twice for different platforms, got trolled, but the new customer who clearly has never given a shit about them, gets the chance to have this new version bugs free and improved graphics.
Telltale, I know you’re trying to get new clients, just be careful not to lose your old ones.
Technically, if you got the PS4 version of TWD S1, you actually got the second most up-to-date version of the game, just behind this upcoming remaster. The PC, 360/PS3 versions, iOS and so on are pretty much inferior to the PS4/Xbone re-releases.

they could've put some effort into improving model fidelity a and texture quality, but I guess this is telltale. 'Effort' isn't exactly their strong suit atm

They altered the shaders for more consistency across the games, but the characters in Season 1 still look pretty low quality. There's some pretty evident blurring which comes from stretching small textures across such large meshes. Would've liked them to look more crisp than that.
They should of concentrated on fixing the bugs in the existing game for the people who have already paid good money and been fans of the series, I guess making more money is their primary motivation though

I wonder if in the collection that the graphics are improved in Season 2 and the Michonne Mini-Series?
This is a massive kick in the balls for all of the loyal customers who already bought every TWD game on PS4 (me included).
Languages?
Do this include Italian (Season 1 + 400days were released in Italian!)?

TFW you know ANF is so bad you use Clem scenes, her voiceover, and use Kenny's Ep4 flashback like he was important in it.
Man, I already have all 3 seasons on Xbox One. I don’t know if I should buy the collection or not.
I already have the games, not gonna pay 50 dollars for them again.
Yeah, that was also my first thought. Especially for users like me, who plays all these games on pc only. It would make me very happy!
As long as the games are fully rendered and without bugs I'll have no problem with it.

...Jurassic Park and TWD made their stance on that topic fairly clear.
Meh.
Also, the textures on the Season 1 stuff look really weird/oversatured. Carley in particular looks off.
Should've also been a patch for the current PS4/XBO & PC versions of the games.
