Blood and gore...
After a character kills and walker or a person, I would personally like the blood to splatter on their clothes and face for a realistic effect. ANF had hardly any blood in the Season, hopefully The Season Finale is gory. Who else likes blood and gore in The Walking Dead? Example if you shot Conrad in the train wreck, Clementine will come back later in episode 3 and she states that she used the walker gut trick. Well it looked like she splashed a bit on her stomach, no enough blood or guts! All the ANF characters look clean and shiny which they should look dirty! Hope I am not the only one who noticed this?

An issue with A New Frontier ?
Like how in season 2 they all put walker guts on, but are only slightly smudged later on? It was so "subtly" done.
But yeah, final season? Go all out with the violence. Put some nudity in it, too.
Agreed! I felt like there is hardly no violence/gore and no nudity. Literally in The Finale Season they need to go all out if they want players to remember it.
I'm torn between whether or not they should add blood/gore. On one hand, I'm squeamish as fuck. On the other, done right, it would add to the realism and/or aesthetic. I'd definitely opt for a filter/toggle option. As for nudity, as much as I'd like to see what a lad's loins look like, at most I'd be okay with shirtlessness. Sure, this is an adult-age rated game series, but we are playing as Clementine, a 13-year old in a zombie apocalypse. Maybe she's seen others naked, but that doesn't mean she should be put in situations where others are (unless, like, they've got wounds all over). I wouldn't mind this on a separate playable character, though.
Exactly.
..... As long as it doesn't involve any of the main characters, I could support that.
This is Telltale's version of Terminator: Genisys
Instead of being R rated, it's PG-13 rated.
The games are already darker in tone than the comics are, those are just ridiculous. Kirkman thinks thinks something like Negan or that pet tiger are gritty and serious, holy crud.
Still, I hate this double standard on violence and nudity. Americans are so prudish.
What do you mean by darker? Darker in context or darker in atmosphere? I still highly believe the comics have them beat in context. Attempted Child Rape, Actual Rape, At least twice the amount of gore, for both humans and Walkers.
Edit: Tone. Yep, The games have the better Narrative. There's too much crammed into the comics that it kinda makes you feel numb, there's no real weight to it like the games have. Even though ANF was starting to go down that road.
I would say he uses it as flare. It's not made to be taken seriously. It's cool to see, but you know that you wouldn't actually see that if the zombie apocalypse really happened. Everyone would be too scared to come out of their hidey holes to tug around a full grown tiger on a leash when literally anything can kill them. And people, who are batshit crazy like negan wouldn't last long in a world like that, let alone become leader of a community.
Yah I can see that. We view someone tearing another person's throat out with their teeth as something completely acceptable to watch. But, when some person on the younger side shows some skin, we want whoever is responsible thrown in prison. That's just how we're trained to think.
I'd say the comics definitely win this category. There's so many screwed up moments. Early on too. And there seems to be something worse every volume. Seriously, some of the moments Kirkman writes up (his mind scares me) are the stuff of nightmares. So I agree. Comics are much worse.
It's very ironic that you use the word "flare". You see, this reminded me of what I consider the most horrifying image in Telltale's games.
I can't even find a small video of it, but that reminds me of the single most horrifying moment in the entirety of the game series: the flare gun kill. Man, that's going to give me nightmares tonight.
Just replayed Season 2, and while I like how they had the characters be splattered with blood on their clothes and their faces, there was one instance that stood out to me as funny, when Clementine and Luke cross the bridge in episode 2, Clementine gets her clothes and face splattered with Blood, but when they arrive at the ski lodge, her face is magically clean while her clothes are still stained
Personally I agree with this thread though, it really adds to the thing when characters get splattered with blood, and we can see remnants from that episodes later, like Clementines hat still has bloodstains on it.
I guess its kinda morbid to say, but characters having blood on their clothes, face, hands and so on really adds to the experience I think (obviously dont have blood just to have blood, but if Clementine slashes a guy in the face, I expect at least parts of her body to be bloodstained until she can get cleaned up at the next opportunity, not to mention, clothes should probably be stained indefinitely for realism, maybe we can even get a change of clothes?
you didn't know of the infamous luke and clem bathing scene that was supposed to take place in between those scenes?
It doesn't matter how many brutal things you throw out there, how it's presented matters and Kirkman comes off as very juvenile to me with his idea of dark being absurdly 1 dimensional crazy bad guys and constant over-the-top violent situations. It's dark and extreme to the point of being comical. Oh god, the governor just cut off rick's hand, raped michonne, made out with his underage zombie daughter, watched decapitated zombie head TV, and all in the span of like 20 pages! Call the cops, what a madman!
Kirkman is a manchild who somehow got lucky. But admittedly, his cheap shock value isn't as bad as the TV show's, which felt the need to shoot little girl zombies in the head within the first five minutes. Kirkman at least waited a bit for infanticide.
But by comparison, the games feel much more grounded not to mention nowhere near as pointlessly mean spirited for the sake of shock value. Yeah context sure, but I bet if the game had done the Governor, or the rape scene it would have been much more tactful and it would have ended up feeling much more dark or intense.
And as for how the violence itself, adlard's art is so rushed and sloppy it has almost no impact, and half the time you're not even sure who died. Now Tony Moore's art, when people got bit it looked fucking painful. You could see the agony in the face, and the tendons and stuff under the skin being ripped apart, but I digress. We're talking about the game.
While the video game's art style still isn't that graphic (usually, carver's death was messed up) the great voice acting carries it a long way during violent scenes. And the writing is stronger than Kirkman's idea of what "normal" people talk like.
Really I can't see anyone thinking the comics are darker or more mature unless they're blinded by nostalgia or they're still in their teens.
I hope Clementine’s group covers their self in walker guts in The Finale Season, similar to the sequence at the end of In Harm’s Way. Looking at characters with blood and gore on their body/face, makes them look badass.
Yah. Blood/gore camo does look pretty badass. I just hope that if they do that it will turn out better for Clem's group than it did before.
The only reason they failed in "In Harms Way" was half the group being babies, I mean, fucking Clementine can do it, come on
Louche meet sarcasm....sarcasm meet Louche...obviously the two of you have never met before.
Well, they sure as hell did it in the comics. And I do think that it would suck if she died not knowing what any of that is like. Carl didn't know about it up till about 20 issues ago. It's just unfortunate that his partner only knew about it because it was forced upon her... And they only knew each other for a few days. Clem determinately got to smoke and drink alcohol at 11 years old for Christ's sake. Why shouldn't she be able to take part in this, when she has already gone through so much that is very mature for her age, and her life as we know it is so close to it's end?
Damn, that's the most convincing argument for child porn I've ever seen. I'll give you credit for that.
I'd argue that the real reason they failed is because someone took an unavoidable stray bullet to the neck, which led to confusion and everyone getting separated by the sea of walkers.
Well, Rebecca, Sarah (understandable, probably) and Sarita all go into a panic during the escape, which leads to Sarita dying, and Rebecca and Clementine and Sarah would have probably died thanks to Sarah and Rebecca if not for Jane coming back and telling them to get their shit together
But you have to put it in perspective...Clem had done walked through a herd of walkers before....and she had Lee talking her through it...so she knew what to expect. Sarah was doing well until Carlos got killed. Then the walkers went from a shambling horde to a frenzied horde when they smelled blood and Sarah began to scream....I am sure that would freak out more than a few people. The plan was solid as far as it went...but like most plans...they tend to fall apart when unknown problems appear.
For a second I thought you were making a reference to Jane's dialogue. "The plan was good! The execution was the messy part."
I'm pretty sure it failed because the writers decided they were sick of several characters.
I want the slaughterhouse to appear in The Finale Season. Inside, there would be hanging bones, bits of people’s skin, like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It would be good if Clementine fell in a bloodbath and have all blood on her body and face. Then her dramatic escape by ripping a chunk of of one of the cannibals that captured her. Clementine then jumps out a window and breaks her leg. She staggers and tries to run to safety, with glass and blood on her, that would just be the perfect scene!
Read that in Kenny's voice for some reason.
That's the second nicest thing anyone's ever said to me.
Also you're not denying it...
Also, I would like to say that this quote shows that you are willing see something this extreme if it's written well.
I say that something like this can be written well, but knowing telltale, they'll either chicken out or fuck it up.
And I not saying that we need to see it happen, (Jesus Christ, no!). It can be introduced very subtly. Like, just her and someone walking into the other room together, and then seeing them again after a bit in an unusual mood. That's all we're asking here.
Yes I suppose if they were subtle enough Telltale could get away with something like that...
It's just like with everyone. You want them to be happy, especially with the type of things that these people have gone through. She has already seen some of the most horrible things you can see, and she has had to take on more responsibilities that most adults in their world. Why can't she be able to see the good things in life, too? It shows more that she's growing up. And for all we know, she still thinks that it's called "kissing stuff". She didn't even know what a period was till recently. Do you think she has learned anymore about that since then? I think this would clear up that little detail, as well as give another nod to the comics, like Carl and Lydia.
Haha... yes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I can where you're coming from. Still, as you said, tackling a subject like Clem exploring her sexuality seems like a very slippery slope to me and I'm not sure if I trust Telltale to have enough delicacy to do it justice. I'd rather The Final Season only allude to her questioning sexuality (and maybe whether or not she is bisexual) instead of implicating any sort of sexual acts.
Yah. Just having her be able to mature more as a character is basically what I'm going for. I was just thinking that if she was going to die this season, it would suck if they wrote her as dying a Virgin, after everything she's gone through. I can see it now, "She's gone through so much, yet, she never got laid." That's what will be on her tombstone. Would you be happy with that?
Somehow I could imagine Kate blurting that out.
In all seriousness I don't mean to say I'm against the idea of Clementine losing her virginity, just that I'm concerned that the execution would have to be precise and after the multiple writing stumbles that made up ANF I'm a bit iffy as to whether or not Telltale could actually pull it off without being heavy handed.
I'll wait and see where the writers take the topic of her sexuality in the actual game. If they do go that far with the subject and manage to pull it off well and in a way that has an effect on the plot and characters in some way then great! I won't have a problem with it. At the same time if they only toy with the idea or just ignore it entirely I wouldn't mind it much, so long as what they do decide to focus on keeps me invested. Yes her dying a virgin is depressing when you look at it that way but that's usually the tone the franchise goes for anyways. I don't really go into these games expecting positive outcomes in the first place.
Fair enough. We'll just have to wait and see where this goes. When there is a possibility of multiple endings to this season, anything can happen.
As for me...truly...at the end of the story...before the credits roll..I want to see her with someone or at least close...other than Gabe...I think she has earned it.
Sure as hell she's earned it. If only the story can be done right by the renewed telltale team. That remains to be seen.
She has earned it, I agree. Which is why I want Telltale to really pull out all the stops in creating a beautiful relationship for her this time around. I don't want to have another Gabentine scenario where she is shipped with a boy her age for the sake of it with not enough time given to show some chemistry between the two, nor do I want her to lose her virginity for the sake of it either. I just feel that she deserves to become close and develop a truly meaningful relationship with a boy over a period of time that makes sense. Whether it's implied that she loses her virginity to him or not over the events of The Final Season doesn't really matter to me as long as that's done well too if it does occur.
Yah. It should be a better love story than between Carl and Lydia. They only knew each other for maybe a day or two before she pounced on him. Things like that should definitely take some time to really make it feel connected to a character's development. Having it rushed won't make it feel earned. And I'm thinking of their relationship expanding 3-4 episodes before their chemistry really formulates. Considering the types of trust issues she already has, and what the other person could have, it will take that time to break down those walls they built around themselves. Not any of that ridiculousness we had with ANF. One situation I could think of that could help take away some of this boundary of mistrust between them is if the significant other came from McCarroll ranch itself. They could've lived peacefully enough at the Ranch where he wouldn't have to worry so much about danger, keeping his wariness for strangers low. But we can't have it too low. Having them not able to detect danger at all would not be beneficial, but it would be funny for Clem to show them what to look out for. Also if AJ was there through ANF they could've had some experience with AJ and they could develop a bond over them both wanting what's best for AJ. It would still take 2 full episodes at the least to progress that sort of relationship, And that's not counting character traits.
Edit: I wonder if any threads have popped up talking about this type of thing. Probably.
This sums up my ideas on how they could develop another love interest pretty well Maybe The Final Season could also incorporate time jumps like in Season 1 to help speed up the chemistry, while still letting it seem like a natural escalation.
I still put forth the idea that it'd be interesting if this new love interest's personality reflected that of Season 1 Clementine in some way while still having the skills and self sufficiency of Season 2 onward Clem. I feel that it would create a nice poignant contrast to show just how much Clementine has changed over the course of her story and maybe even help the boy (or maybe even girl, if Telltale decides to allow players that choice) break down the walls Clementine has built around herself due to being able to empathize with her and her journey and let Clem's S1 personality have a chance to shine through.
Of course, as long as there is believable chemistry and Clem's potential love interest is likable to some degree then I'm willing to be open towards whatever personality they have.
I had to remove a few posts, when discussing things please try and keep it SFW (Safe For Work).
