I love it so far! (speculation, one complaint)

My only problem with it so far is that it'll probably disregard the previous seasons.

I think these kids are all gonna be great, and I'm sure we'll get backstories, their strengths and weaknesses, maybe their ages, their likes and dislikes, maybe even some theories on how they think the world works, at least in regards to walkers. I doubt we've seen every character that the first episode is meant to introduce. And even if the story turns out to be a flop, this'll be the first Walking Dead video game to actually be a GAME since Season One. I just...hnng, TAKE MY MONEY.

  • I know right, I love the new direction there taking the gameplay.

Everyone who’s says it looks bad is just salty cause they didn’t get a trailer.

If telltale wanted to show us the gameplay they would have, but the gameplay they showed off is in pre alpha meaning that most of what they showed we’ll be cut or extremely altered in the final project, so why show us if there gonna change it anyway?

  • I'd probably be more excited if this forum hadn't left me so drained when it comes to the Walking Dead but I am interested. I like the concept and it'll be good to have more characters that Clem can relate to. I heard it implied that Clem is afraid of dogs now so I think it'll be an interesting dynamic with that one character with a dog.

  • I’m excited but the negativity is just draining me of my excitement and ruining the experience

  • I feel similarly. One of my favorite parts of Telltale games is discussing them on these forums but it's just so hard to get hyped on the Walking Dead side of the forums now with all the negativity.

  • I know, right? I've been spending so much time on the Batman forum (which is really nice and chill), that I forgot how horribly toxic, negative and salty people were on the TWD forum lol

  • I know....and hell I have been guilty of it sometimes....but it is time to just sit back and let the team make the game before we tear it apart or throw love on to it.

Right now, I am very happy with how it is going.

The Theme for the finale season is pretty hardcore.....CARVER WAS RIGHT....It will be the children who grew up in the new world...people like Clementine and these new kids....they will be the people to lead humanity back from the brink.

  • Exactly! I felt so revived when season 2 was released. While There's positivity the criticism is mostly healthy and more constructive rather than so toxic.

  • I feel there's definitely promise, based off of what we've seen. Though Clementine is a character that's been a piece of the story's heart since season one, she or any singular character couldn't support the narrative by herself, I feel. I'm excited to watch her grow further though I believe the relationships with and between and development of other characters is what makes this series special. I'm hoping we'll gain insight into who these youngins are as people and have a chance to explore their world view and develop meaningful, dynamic connections with them. This world often neglects children (well, also in a way I don't intend), and while it is understandable, of course there are children who could've been supported and had a chance to come to life despite the often horrific circumstances. Children are hope and the creator of the world to come.

While I felt greatly disappointed with certain elements of a hypothetical season and its advertising, the past doesn't necessarily predict the future, and we've seen many changes in the past year. I'm not taking a strong stance either way until there's more to interpret, but I do feel some radicaaal excitement.

You know, that's a great point, I hope Telltale does something with this because that would be a very cool way to tie it all together.

  • That's a good point about Carver's line! You could definitely see this season paying homage to Carver's talk of the next generation. Wonder if he'll get referenced at all?

  • I'ma just stay on this thread. All the pessimism just kills the excitement for me and I don't have the energy to retort anything negative. I commend the community for being divisive cause that makes for good discussion, but not like this. Anything negative about TFS is just using ANF as a crutch to aid their arguments. And this new argument that the writers look inexperienced is possibly the farthest from fair a person could get.

Aside from that light rant, I'm staying cautiously optimistic. I absolutely love what can be done with this cast of characters. We've seen more than enough of what adults can do in this battlefield. I want to see what the kids are capable of. And I have absolutely no issues with any member of the cast aside from Marlon. He's definitely one who appears to wear his heart on his sleeve in all the wrong ways.

  • I’m glad many people are giving this season a chance. Too many keep bringing ANF in the mix forgetting that these are writers that have written Batman Enemy Within, TWD S1, And even good blockbuster movies like Rouge One (Gary Whitta). People want to forget about ANF yet bring it up every chance they get. It makes zero sense.

  • Exactly. After Batman Enemy Within, I'm confident that Telltale is getting back on its feet, and that they will deliver a good game.

There weren't many times when Carver was wrong, but there were plenty of times when Carver made more sense than the main group did. The old generation will be dead and gone by the time this shit clears up. And you can't rely on the hope and a few gallons of siphoned gas to lead you to paradise in the war zone, like Wellington or expect to live alone and happily in the warm weather, two fantasies Kenny was prone to having, understandably for obvious reasons.

The kids have always been the future. But it holds true more now than ever. And we get to see who will lead the future first hand with these cast of characters.

  • I really do like where they're taking it, but I'm really not a fan of the pre-established relationships. Also, the fact that they're doing a time skip makes me a bit annoyed, but I'm still excited regardless.
