Your thoughts on Overkill’s The Walking Dead
I’ve seen some people discuss this game but haven’t seen a dedicated thread for it yet. In case you don’t know what this game is I’ll link a popular article where the developers generally discuss what the game is all about.
Edit: Trailers and some footage of in-game environments for anyone interested.

I have hopes for it but it can easily become another survival instinct.
I'm under the impression the Skybound is trying to phase Telltale out of The Walking Dead.
With the final season of TWD and this is feels likely.
Can't be worse than that, can it? Not after so many delays.
I hope not,in fact I have high hopes for it because of the delays but it's the walking dead dissapointment is a must in anything related to it.
Not being funny but people are saying with delays that Overkill’s game can possibly be better, look how A New Frontier turned out and that had delays too, I don’t trust any Walking Dead game after that one. All I’m saying is that don’t get hope or high expectations for the game or even The Walking Dead: The Final Season, in particular.
Two completely different companies making completely different games. Also Telltale was showing early signs of lacking quality before ANF came out, Overkill is not.
Overkills The Waliing dead has been a thing for many years though, way before there was any talk of the Final Season, possibly even before A New Frontier
It's not made by Gearbox who fucked up Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens Colonial Marines.
I'm curious about it. Can't exactly say I'm hyped but I'm interested. Have they shown any actual gameplay yet?
I don't think they did,of if they did this was years ago,it's made by Overkill (the guys who made Payday 2) so i'm interested.
No gameplay but their is two cinematic trailers and footage of some in game environments.
looks more generic than...insert something here
I think it will be cool. Had Kirkman helping out on it. What could go wrong. I've said for years that Telltale needed Kirkman's input on their games that are Walking Dead affiliated.
They haven't shown any gameplay footage yet. Was hyped at first, now I don't care.
They released a new trailer now about bill 2.0....still cenimatic but it's the best out of all 3 of em...idk man E3 will have my final answer to this.
I think it’ll turn out to be fun. It’s going to be a lot different than the usual Walking Dead games released for console (Telltale & Survival Instinct). It’ll also be set in the AMC verse so that should be fun. I have a feeling those who only enjoy Telltale’s version of the series won’t be into it. It’s more for multiplayer people.
Its actually set in the comic universe. It’s weird because the aesthetic of the game is very realistic unlike anything we’ve seen from the comic universe.
They confirmed that they are gonna show gameplay at E3. They said they wanted to release cinematic trailers first to represent that this is as much of a story driven game as it is a co-op fps.
Survival Instinct was purely a cash grab made by yours truly, Activision. I’m not saying Overkill’s game is gonna be amazing, but I’d bet my life that it will be better then that load of crap. Overkill’s record isn’t spotless but it’s 10x better then Activision’s.
That's good, I guess. Still skeptical about the whole game though.
Thats not what I meant, I just meant that the notion that they would phase out Telltales the Walking dead for Overkills The Walking Dead seems silly to me because Overkills The Walking Dead has been in "production" for many years now, and I dont see why The Final Season would happen in that case
Because my standards are pretty low when it comes to Zombie games, I'll give it a go. My only request is that the fighting mechanics are innovative and works off what Dead Island brought to the table. None of this "Click-to-swing" Bullshit. Give me the ability to swing wherever I want. That in the game alone could keep me playing for hundreds of hours.
Might as well turn it into a VR game.
It was originally supposed to come out in 2016. It's 2 years later.
I hope this game features an option to choose character models from Telltale for multiplayer.
Yes... Give me Ben anyday. I'll turn him into an underdog-to-Badass killing Machine!
Are you fucking serious? I've been listening "I'll make a man out of you" from Mulan recently. lol
Ben becomes the go-to character model for griefers
Just a bunch of Bens running around getting their teammates killed
That, actually sounds pretty accurate. And when he joins up with the Nicks... THIS GAME IS F*CKED
A new character trailer came out!
Grant looks like the most interesting character so far.
Can you really blame them? That game was in development hell for a long time... At least they actually decided to release it unlike the other studios who didn't bother doing so.
Not really cause they were just given project they had no idea what to do with. For Aliens, they should just go fuck themselves.
Grant looks like a rip off of a older Kenny, needs more teenagers xD
Don’t worry. Telltale’s got u covered in S4 lol.
Hard to tell if it will be a good game but i am very fascinated to learn more about Grant’s character
This is the Payday developers game, right? Honestly I haven't looked into it much, I'm waiting on some gameplay. If it's half as well done as their previous work, it'll be well worth the coop experience.
So is there a planned release date yet?
I'm tentatively interested. I was interested when I first heard about it, then I heard it was co-op and immediately lost interest, then just a few hours ago I heard it will also have a single player mode so I'll wait and learn more about that before I decide if I'm truly interested in it or not. As of right now I don't know anything about it other than it's set in the walking dead universe and 3 of the characters in it.
I will say, it's gonna be odd to be set where it is if there's no mention of Alexandria or the saviors or anyone. The 4 main groups in the comic right now, aside from this new faction, are all around the DC area. Would have been better to have it set somewhere completely different to avoid any potential issues like that. Maybe Seattle, or Chicago.
E3 can't get close enough
