And to the people who liked this guy’s post, hang your heads in shame.
Do not concern yourself with such Jane worshipping scum broth… moreer! For our holy lord and savior shall soon deal out their eternal punishment and crush the non believers under his wrath!
I didn't agree with Kenny every step of the way, but I found it hard to hate him because he's a lot like my father. If my dad was a video game character, Kenny would be him 100%. So, due to that I was very forgiving towards him. If I wasn't reminded of my dad, I'm not sure how I'd feel towards Kenny to be honest.
This has been said by quite a lot of people. To me he was just as good in season 2 and in some ways even better. His introduction also took the story forward. Before Kenny arrived, nothing was really happening apart from the group running away from Carver. He arrived at the right time.
I agree. People say that the other characters had their development taken away because of Kenny but they had 1 and a half episodes to build on that before Kenny’s return and they failed on that. I do truly believe had he not appeared in Season 2, the cabin groups development would still have been very poor because that was the type of writers we had anyway...weak ones.

Because his tragic character arc consisting of his descent from an earnest family man into a bloodthirsty monster is the highlight of the entire series and makes him one of if not the prime example of the excellent characterization in these games' writing.
Also just to be fair, Jane was a good character too, though her entire purpose as a character seems to have just been to act as a foil to both Kenny and Clem (a very effective one, but still) and I guess to teach Clem survival skills like the the shin kick move if you want to be technical.
Encompassing all, I'd say Jane started out as more of a plot device invoking Molly, then was developed as a collective foil to Clementine, Luke, Molly, Chuck, and Sarah during Amid the Ruins(which might as well be The Jane Episode), then No Going Back brought her back and pitted her mindset against Kenny, with the justification of sticking around for Clementine's sake in the meantime.

That's all true, she is a much more fleshed out character than my post let on, but yeah ultimately all her characterization was leading up to her becoming the epitome of everything Kenny despised. You could say she's Kenny's equivalent of the Stranger in a way: Her being the unstable loner who judged him harshly for all of his reprehensible actions while intending to steal Clementine away from him for her own safety.

You're obviously new here because what you have said is just baiting people to cause arguments. Your opinion is shit by the way lol.
And to the people who liked this guy’s post, hang your heads in shame.
Well what made Kenny one of my favourite characters in the whole franchise was his honesty and his morals. He spoke his mind and stood by his opinion, never being swayed no matter how much people disagreed (much like myself) which I find to be a very admirable trait.
He was very much the “I’ll stand my ground until I die” type, right from the get-go. Always being sure of himself and confident, he always knew what to do or said he did. He could comfort Clementine without lying to her, telling it like it was.
He didn’t fail to feel guilt or empathy when Shawn died back on the farm instead of duck. He acted like a real person rather than someone who’s only thought was survive.
Throughout every season he stresses more than anyone that family is the most important thing in the world. He takes Clementine under his wing like a daughter, and soon takes AJ like a son, ensuring that he’ll raise them right because he didn’t get to with Duck.
On the Duck note; Kenny’s character development is incredible. While always keeping his stubborn attitude and quick temper he goes through so much through each season but never fails to get through it. Learning to prevail through any situation and never give up until the very end, when he, the most determined survivor in the damn game, sacrifices himself for Clementine and AJ to get their best shot. That SHOWS how much he views them like family. He’s found a PURPOSE, and that’s to care for them, and he made it the last thing he did.
While he always stays a broken survivor he develops the paternal instincts over Clem and AJ that Lee never could’ve given us, because he’d never been a parent.
He’s the emotional attachment to season 1 for Clementine and the audience. A key part of the walking dead whether you love him or hate him.
EDIT: leaving at that left a sour taste in my mouth so i'm gonna throw my two cents into the well and hope a shark doesn't come back up to eat me for them.
kenny, to me at least, is the very foundation of bad character writing. there are a load of horrible, poorly written characters in the walking dead, but kenny seems to be the worst overall. from constantly changing personality to decisions that very clearly only exist so the writers can throw in an action segment or force drama into an otherwise tame and interesting episode, kenny seems to consistently be horrible both as a human being and as a written character. there are no exceptions to this. every other central character gets their moment of "huh that was really good character writing", but kenny seems to constantly be a shitbag that nobody likes and suddenly turned into the messiah of the group. and i want to reinforce this easily forgotten point before anybody comes at me, just because a character gets le sad moments or is relatable does not mean they are well written. it's a veil.
however, i don't think the people who like kenny particularly care about that. to me it's as if the reason people love kenny is because they're holding on to any semblance of the season 1 cast, clinging to better times. nostalgia even. they want so badly to go back to this point in time where the macon group was all together and making the best of a bad situation and clem had friends and people she trusted, and now everything and everyone in the story has changed. and yet kenny, the more inconsistent character in the series, ironically stays the same. kenny is the only remaining thing from season 1 that is not different, and people value that a lot i think.
beats me tbh

No, I don't see it that way, and I couldn't care less if characters like Molly, Lilly or Christa came back in The Final Season to get immediately shot in the head, even if they could have potential. Virtually all of his actions have some understandable motive, and impulsivity as a character trait does not automatically mean bad writing. It's been established since the early episodes of Season 1 that he's a stubborn dumbass who doesn't think things through and gets overwhelmed by intense emotions very quickly. That makes him a flawed character in universe, not from a writing standpoint. I'm not offended by your opinion or anything but if you want to bring up some examples of Kenny's shoddy characterization I can see if I can put my perspective on them.
beats me tbh

Kenny was very well written for lots of different reasons not because of sad moments or what you said. I don’t agree with anything you said to tell you the truth but whatever, i know people who don’t like Kenny are likely to say what you have though. I’m quite neutral on the matter overall
beats me tbh

I think there’s more to it than that. He comes across generally as a likeable but flawed individual. I’d say the majority like him for his straight forward, honest, no nonsense attitude about things. I also think some of the amusing dialogue the character says is another reason people like him.

That's...actually quite clever.
I'm not new, I joined 02/22/14 actually but whatever

Eeeh...I suppose I can sorta see how you'd see it that way, but I honestly don't think it's anywhere near that clear cut.
The last paragraph is more or less on point, though.
