You hit it on the head. This is something I've wanted since Season 2. I wanted another person around Clem's age and competency to sort of rival her. Two people who can get the job done but with different means, methods, and morals that aren't necessarily wrong but just different. A lone wolf in Clementine vs. someone who represents Clem if she was in a stable environment. While I wanted that dynamic between another female character, it looks like Marlon might possibly be the closest I'll get to my scenario.
A New Frontier is better if you play it as if you don't know Clementine. Her decisions and actions make a whole lot more sense this way. Many moments actually make more sense this way. I'm not saying ANF was a master piece because of it, but my experience wasn't as sour as other because of it.

IGN just released a new interview with Melissa Hutchison and Kent Mudle. Only a couple of minutes in, but Mudle confirms that the Garcias won't be appearing, but that there will be returning characters from previous seasons.

They did say that the choices you've made in the past 3 seasons would affect things in this season. So the events of ANF have affected Clem in some way. As long as this wasn't a bunch of self-promoting BS again. And with that, it could influence your decision making near the end.
Kent Mudle is awesome. He's a pretty intelligent and well spoken dude and he did great things with Batman s2. I feel good knowing that he is behind the final season as well.

In this interview Melissa Hutchison stated that Clementine will be 17 in this season which would make AJ 6. I was wondering why they were being so hesitant to tell us the specific length of the time skip but I think I know now. They said that it would be the same time skip as the comics, but they never stated how many years. I imagine they were hesitant to say so because this time skip has yet to happen in the comics.
Technically this isn’t an official announcement, but it sounds pretty accurate to me and everything makes more sense now. AJ looks and for the most part and sounds like a 6-year-old. Of course, there are going to be realism “experts” out there complaining otherwise and since this is the Telltale TWD forums we are talking about, this game is going to get a lot of hate regardless of how good or bad it is.
I actually think they made a good casting choice for AJ. Not every 6-year-old has an overly high-pitched voice. I’ve been around plenty of 6-year-old boys who actually sound pretty similar to AJ. It was a smart move to cast a woman for his role. The average female voice has a greater chance of pulling off the vocal tonalities of a little boy than the average male voice. Of course, you can tell that he isn’t voiced by an actual 6-year-old boy but there aren’t very many young actors who can pull off the level of emotions that will be needed for a TWD story, so I would much rather see him be played by an adult who can actually act than an actual child who isn’t that great at acting, and considering the dark and gruesome world of TWD it is probably best to avoid showing this type of media to a young child.

I see what you're saying, but let me modify it a bit. I think it's more accurate to say that ANF failed because not all play styles worked with it's story. This is my main criticism of ANF. Unlike other seasons where choices and relationships work within the story, ANF only works with playthroughs where you act like Clem is a stranger and support David at least 1/2 the time. Pro-Clem and anti-David playthroughs don't gel with the story.
Don't get me started. I'm still a little upset Becca and Clem didn't interact at Howe's. When they said 400 Days was apart of S2, I immediate began my wait for that moment. I would have played as a Clem that challenged Becca only to see what valid and interesting points she would make. Oh well... you can't change the past.
So you want Clem to just role up at an established community with an already established leader and just take over that role? That totally makes sense.
I think it's long established now that most people don't care whether anything in these stories makes sense--long as Clementine(and/or they) get the ritz and a bj.

That's kind of wear it fails though. You can't help but play the game through the eyes of someone who has helped Clem grow through the years.

She was about 13 in the last season, and this season is post-time jump in the comics which is estimated around 3-4 years, so that sounds about right.

So what was the point of building what we did in ANF if they're just not going to play a part in the endgame of Clem's story?
I think the decisions made and those slides about "My Clementine" at the end of ANF will have an affect on how Clem begins this season.
