This. We all know that in real life zombies would lose very quickly, but you know, the zombies are what make this what it is. The Last of Us… more is a great example, in my mind, of a more realistic (not too realistic though) scenario of the military in an apocalypse.
On other thoughts, I've been hoping that some Walking Dead story explores a remnant of the military (NOTE: I've only read up to A Certain Doom, so no comic spoilers after it). I think it be cool to have some base up north (kind of like in War for the Planet of the Apes), or maybe a naval warship adrift at sea. Could be some cool stuff done there. Maybe they're the type of group that "cleanses" the Earth by burning everything. And everyone.
Simple answer is there was military activity in the beginning, but as the crisis progressed and only got worse, most of the military personnel would have either been killed or abandoned their posts to try to protect their own families. Fear The Walking Dead did a pretty good job at showing this. As their numbers dwindled, the moral of the remaining soldiers began to drop and eventually any that survived would abandon their duties to save their families or simply try to save themselves.
Maybe US army is busy with bringing democracy abroad. And Governor killed those in States.
Look, they just CAN NOT be present. It would be much harder to accept endless hordes of sluggish zombies with active army around.
Polar bears are not living in antarctica. But you are right. There are many attacks on the surface so they couldnt made it and so wont made under the ocean. And zombie virus doesnt transfer just bites. If somone dead unless his/her brain destroyed he will be one of the zombies.Antarctica eliminated bro ?
The aftermath of their efforts are seen around the pharmacy in Episode 3, where there's a couple of wrecked tanks and other gear scattered throughout the city and there's even a turned pilot who approaches Lee as he and Kenny are trying to escape the pharmacy.
Also, David, Ava, possibly Max, and a decent amount of their men were previously in the army.

how do walkers react to mass radiation? I wonder... they might have these really wierd mutations that would make them even stronger. Or they'd just perish

Because with the army there is no Walking Dead story. Since the military and police ? would likely have been first to discover that shots to the dome is what puts down these ? hiking things. Then they'd quickly spread word across the planet ?.

Maybe there's a good ending in S4 where Clem finds a home in one of those military controlled cities.

Good irony god dammit
The military in no use in any zombie apocalypse plain and simple, they’re a bunch of Noobs shooting the undead like an arcade shooter.
Except the Turkish Army Forces lol
Holy shit, anyone ever consider just nuking America?
Nope
Zombies vs Sharks, Whales, Sea Lions, and Polar Bears.
I'm sorry, but I'm gonna say the zombies lose before making it to Antarctica lmao.

Only time i remember they mentioned army is when we were at the pharmacy in S1. And then they never mentioned about it.

Ah yes, Michonne. Thanks.

If that ended up mutation or even reviving walkers while killing everything else, that'd be some shit.
How do dead bodies normally react to radiation?
