Feeling outside of what should be normal

What are some characters you sometimes feel you should like more than you do?
Alternatively, what are some characters you shouldn't like under normal circumstances but find yourself enjoying for some reason?

Gabe,i tried so hard to like him but i can't,i don't know if it's his voice actor, his fucking stupid design,or the romance thing, but i can't like him.

then there's the characters like Randall or Nate they're assholes but you can't help but love them.

  • Oh shoot, I forgot to write a good bit on one of them! In my own dang thread, too.

  • Well, this is a little unexpected.

Kenny. The kind of person I'd probably avoid in real life yet he became my most beloved character

  • Ben. He was always screwing up but there was something about him that made me like him. He was kind, and was always trying to contribute, even if most of his attempts ended up making things worse.

  • Probably because you were safe behind a screen.

  • Eleanor was the second place holder behind my reason for making this thread. In spite of the climate of controversial, underwhelming, and occasional stupidity that came with the premiere of ANF, I honestly wanted to like Eleanor. As a former EMT and generally kind person, it was clear that she took her hippocratic oath very seriously and primarily desired to help people in post-apocalyptic times. Her somewhat naive willingness to empathize with strangers/"troublemakers" and even break the rules in order to save people was admirable, though clearly a potential double-edged sword.

Additionally, her interactions with the other characters were mostly helpful, even in cases that she weren't necessarily ideal or even cozy. First and foremost, the mutual discomfort yet incomplete aversion she had with Tangerine was intriguing and no doubt the source was some unfortunate incident involving them in the past. And despite seemingly finding Javier attractive, she is touched if he kisses Kate upon reuniting with her, personally watches over her as an escort when she's wounded by Badger, and even walked up to the gates of Richmond to get her help despite the danger she was unknowingly approaching. And of course, there was her winning over Dr. Lingard with her and ill-equipped surgical and suturing skills, giving her group a friendly connection within the New Frontier.

Unfortunately, like a lot of characters in that installment and even the series in general, she got lost in a fair degree of nonsense and distraction. This was primarily due to almost always being out of focus, kept away from the spotlight despite technically doing more for the story than her fellow Prescott Trio members. On a much more unimportant, irrelevant note, there was the out of universe sentiments that she HAD to be either an alternate love interest for Javier or a spy for the New Frontier--two dismissive, arguably chauvinist trains of thought that lumped her character in as a mere accessory. And finally, there was the whole triage and/or last minute betrayal thing regarding the people of New Richmond, which combined with Tripp's determinant [near ]execution among other devotion-oriented things, seemed like it should've at least finally opened the door to her getting some critical character development. And of course, that didn't happen--Eleanor was a major character in connection only, her characters was somewhat [over]defined by her association to others, and her apparent swerve as a turncoat was really just a last minute twist for extra drama that doesn't even affect anything.

  • Even though the series is done, I still feel like talking about characters like Lee, Kenny, Clementine from season 2 and other characters from season 1, season 2 and 400 days even though the more recent games should be fresher in my mind and more of a talking point :D :D

I should have probably liked AJ more for sure. I wasn't that big fan of Louis either.

  • Okay, I'll bite: why was this?

What are some characters you sometimes feel you should like more than you do? AJ
