  • The third act was goddamn great. (If you don't spare Lilly and see James' super contrived death scene.)

He-he-hey, somebody finally giving the third act some credit. I've seen a fair bit of people that think the third act was the part that let the episode down, but this was the most nerve-wracking 20-30 minutes of the game since A House Divided's ending for me.

The Abel interrogation: I like that they didn't just make Abel into a Randall 2.0, and actually had him show genuine fear and a willingness to cooperate... albeit he only started becoming cooperative after he nearly pukes up his damn lungs. But still, at least Abel doesn't die a complete bastard without a single redeemable quality.

Walker barn scene: I think most people have already said enough regarding this scene.

The party scene: Also another scene most people have said enough about. Learning Louis/Violet's pasts, the humor that quickly gives way to somberness, the song at the end.

    The Lee dream

James talking about his past, and his concern for AJ: This whole sequence is a great character moment, and the animation/soundtrack definitely make the entire thing work. You can tell how it's a struggle for James to even muster the strength to tell this story, but knowing he's that concerned over somebody else that he's willing to disclose his darkest moment? Kind of heartwarming, in a way.

Sneaking onto the boat: As other people mentioned, a great soundtrack, a super neat gameplay scene (using walkers as shields to avoid the spotlight), the fact it's one continuous take, and the neat cinematography on top of it being a long take (the camera constantly panning around to the events occurring around the characters, the close calls with some of the raiders, like that one dude hopping over the crates right next to you, zombies walking across the bottom of the river, etc). Dare I say this is one of the best and most ambitious sequences Telltale/SNB has ever done.

The parable of the twins: This scene is captivating the whole way through, even if the end of the story makes the big reveal a tad bit obvious. The animation on Minerva's face, the soundtrack, and the camera work all sell this scene.

The final fight with Lilly: I like how this entire final fight sequence just turns into a giant free-for-all between like 5 different people. James and that one raider fighting, Clem and AJ squaring off against Lilly, and Tenn... doing something? Anyways I always love myself a gritty, brutal fight scene like this. And the "finisher" where you kick the knife lodged in Lilly's leg? Shit's painful. And pretty cool.

But if I had to choose one out of that list? I think I'd go with sneaking onto the boat.
