i really would like to hear official apologize from the telltale team. even judging by TWD1 release gap between episodes (about 2 months) TWAU EP2 should be out at 12.12.2013. also on the steam store page was written addition info

Over a season of content spanning across 5 episodes (Episode 1 Available Now, Episodes 2-5 will be released periodically until Summer 2014):

summer starts in Juny, 6th month of the year. And i dont think they are gonna make it in less than 2 months for each episode.

  • I think as a message that consistency and communication is key to pleasing the fans, for the next telltale game that comes out we need to all wait until the last chapter is out and THEN buy it

  • on the steam sale with 40%-75% off. that will teach them.

  • Well this sucks. I bought TWAU shortly after it's release because it has such a nice story and thinking it would have the same pace as Walking Dead season 1. Now, I'm thinking twice if I should pre-order Walking Dead season 2 because of how slow they release each episode...

Release date will be given AFTER Christmas?! Have to say, I am disappoint...

But GOOD NEWS! At least TTG can sit back, relax and enjoy the holidays, sip cocktails and eat canapés and worry about finishing the game later. After all, I've given them the money for the ENTIRE GAME upfront so I suppose they can take as damn well long as they like! Hooray!

  • Thanks for the update.

I've seen it coming all the way when they said that they wanted to release TWD before TWAU.And given the fact that they still need at least 2 weeks to work on TWD before releasing it,TWAU could never have been released at the same time. They must have had a problem but they won't even tell us what it was.Now the question is:will it be released beginning of January or end of January?
Anyway,if the same thing happens with the next episodes,we'll still be at it next Christmas!

  • Telltale's seriously slipping from their monthly release tradition... It better be a hell of a product!

  • Jagshemash! My name a Borat.

This delay is result of a evil Gypsy women, who cast a spell on this tell a tale company.

Almaty Chamber of Commerce from Glorious Nation of kazakstahn has a decide we send you Gypsy tears to fend of evil spirits!

My 13-year-old son is travelling to the US and A by foot, with his two wives and his three childrens. This will be a free service, from Glorious Nation of Kazakstahn but if you want to thank for gypsy tears and If he survives the journey I have promised him that he can make penetration with Colombian prostitute Shakira.

If you like also give me a special prize for helping. I will put this prize next to the only other one I won, from Central Asian Olympic Committee. For hitting gypsy with rock at 50 meters.

    Whoawhoawewa!

  • I know this is very disappointing to hear for all of us, and I'm sure the people working on the game are quite disappointed about it too.
I do find some comfort in the fact that I know they are not rushing anything out before they feel it's ready, I can't wait for the next episode!

Let's all hope it goes smoother from here!

  • I wouldn't have bought the season pass if I knew from start of those infinite waiting times, aggravated by no communication at all from Telltale...
I would have at least waited for the season to end before making a purchase. But now I know for the next time... assuming there will be a next time.

Sorry Telltale, the episode 1 was really good, but this is unacceptable.

  • Well, going to have to wait until the whole season is released for me to spend anymore money on this game now. I was willing to give episodic releases a try, but I prefer playing straight through as opposed to waiting 2 or 3 months between episodes. I've already forgotten what my actions were and how they made me feel emotionally during the first episode. The emotions felt throughout the episode are something the choice reminders can't bring back. Anyways, flame if you must. I'll be here from time to time waiting until I can download the full game this time next year.

  • I just bought the episode instead of the season pass because while I enjoyed the walking dead, some things about the game annoyed me. I went in skeptical but after the two hours, I was more excited for episode 2 than I ever was for TWD. That excitement has just about run it's course and now to hear we probably wont see it until next year!? I don't care anymore. I know telltale probably doesn't care but I am done buying any episodes from them. I'll play something else and wait until it gets a full release. It's ridiculous, torturing yourself getting a 2 hr slice of a 10 hr story over the span of a year. That's like game of thrones taking 2-3 months between every episode. Sorry, don't have the patience.

  • So I've been lurking around here since episode 1 dropped and wanted to register an account just so I could offer my two cents.

So I (like many people apparently) only jumped on the telltale band wagon once Walking Dead got a disc release in Australia so I (again like many apparently) enjoyed the luxury of having all the episodes at my disposal whenever I wanted. I happily leaped into the Wolf Among Us because the Fables world sounded cool and I loved the game play and story elements from Walking Dead.

The reason why I wanted to register here is because I find it increasingly bothersome the amount of anger and resentment being thrown in Telltale's face over the perception that they owe you episode 2 whenever you want it.

I paid for the season pass like a lot of other people. But in no way does that give us the right to get annoyed at Telltale if they take there sweet time giving us more content. The whole idea for the season pass is (to my understanding) the idea that we give money up front for the complete product and Telltale in return give us five episodes EVENTUALLY. Not in 4 to 6 weeks. Not on the full moon of every cycle. Not when I'm at home thinking "I really want to see what Bigby does next!". History and wikipedia have shown me that Telltale will fulfill their side of our agreement in good time. If a game like Jurassic Park eventually got finished (even though surely barely anyone truly cared about that) then I know that I'll get episodes 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 of the Wolf Among Us before I die of old age.

I'll admit that as a Telltale newbie the radio silence we've had has been incredibly disturbing, but the fact that in the space of a few days we've had an official youtube video, an ios release and confirmation that Jack of Fables will be in episode 2 (which, OH MY GOODNESS JACK OF FREAKING FABLES!!!) certainly helps to allay my fears that they've taken our money and given up on this series in favor of more walking dead.

So I guess my end point is, waiting sucks. It sucks incredibly. But that's only because we elected to enter into this episodic release agreement with telltale and only because telltale did such a damn good with episode 1 that we're starving for more. Everyone who feels like telltale owes you more than what you agreed for needs to calm down just a tiny bit.

The comic series is like, a 130 something issues long, so there's plenty of fables awesomeness to read while we're waiting. Hopefully Prince Charming and Flycatcher show up in one of these game screens soon.

  • "I've already forgotten what my actions were and how they made me feel emotionally during the first episode."
This is so true and it's a major problem with the episodic issues.

It looks like the update is "there will be an ETA given after the holidays". We won't be playing this til January. Luckily, I just busted out Red Dead for the first time in years so no worries. Thank you Telltale for bringing us fun games. If you get sick of hearing people complain just remind them it's a fucken video game.

We'd all rather wait than play a buggy version tomorrow.

  • I'm pleased they finally spoke to us but it sounds like something big held them up. I'm not impressed with their lack of info on the delay and obviously I'm very disappointed that we have to wait until January or February. I'm thinking only a complete rewrite would hold them up that badly but that can't be true, surely?

It's not like they're taking much longer than they did when they released The Walking Dead. Release dates for those episodes are as follows:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_(video_game)

    Episode 1: April 24, 2012

    Episode 2: June 27, 2012

    Episode 3: August 28, 2012

    Episode 4: October 9, 2012

    Episode 5: December 20, 2012

As they have multiple teams, I doubt developing two games at once is having a very big impact. They have said that they hope to be able to get episodes out quicker, starting in the new year. Is it not a time of change for Telltale Games, with them trying to build their studio?

In any case, this is not me saying 'don't complain'. But I am trying to say there's not much difference between TWAU and The Walking Dead's release schedule. I imagine Christmas is not helping either, which is really out of Telltale Games' hands. (TWAU was released on Steam on the 11th of October. So yes, it is likely it'll be around 2 - 4 weeks more after the 11th of December and a few weeks longer than The Walking dead took, but again account for Christmas time.)

Edit: And yeah exactly. While I'd like the episode now, it's better they take their time. And one last thing is they've stated before that much of the work is done on episodes while we wait. So, it is understandable that there's sometimes a lengthy gap between episodes (not from a consumer standpoint as people want it as soon as possible or at least some information, but from Telltale's standpoint)

There is no excuse as to why they have delayed it as long as they have. The other thing there is no excuse for is the** lack of communication**. If a game is delayed, tell the people, especially if, like me, they have paid for a season pass. I won't be buying a season pass for Walking Dead Season 2.

  • Alright, so, let's gather what information this blog post gave us:

Jack is going to appear in Episode 2. I'm sure if I read the comics, I'd be overjoyed. I don't, so I'm not.

Bigby is going to enter a strip club at some point, which we already knew. They also spelled it out even more how the pimp is Georgie Porgie, which we already knew. Bigby does get a cricket bat at some point, however, which I guess is nice.

The icing on the cake? ETA to come after Christmas. Actually, not even that much. An update on the ETA to come after Christmas, which could just as easily be another "The episode isn't out yet, but we're working on it! More 'information' to come later!" So, I guess I wasn't entirely incorrect in my assumption. All of the information can be summed up as "Jack is going to show up, and also the episode isn't coming out any time soon."

I appreciate the effort to keep us informed, Telltale, I really do, but when the "information" you're giving us is basically "We don't have a damn clue when the episode is coming out, but we might in another month", that's just not doing it for me. I am 100% expecting the "update on the ETA" coming after the holidays to be nothing more than another "Yeah, it's not out yet. Stay tuned for more information near the end of the month!"

I love you Telltale, genuinely, but you're literally just toying with us now.

@LordKable: What does it matter? You're still saving money. 10 bux saved is 10 bux saved regardless of how long you have to wait. I think I'm gonna buy it before Ep. 2 comes out so I can save 5 bux.

What the telltale dude really meant by "update by the end of this upcoming week" is "see you next year" lulz..

  • First off, they never had any release dates set for Ep 2, 3, 4, or 5. So nothing has really been delayed so far. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes, so stop being entitled. I'll agree with you as to the lack of communication though, although it seems like, with the recent post, they couldn't really say anything, as they still don't have a clear release date. So all they could have said the past month or so is "we're working on it"

    LordKable posted: »

  • Yeah, we "agreed" on the episodes being released periodically with no set date between each episode. But when I purchased the Season Pass, I assumed the "4-6 weeks" was at least an educated guess. I know it's not an official statement from Telltale, but I kind of assumed the claim was based somewhere in reality.

We're now approaching the 8 week mark (in five days), which as I recall was more or less the average time between episodes of TWD. Except here, all we get for the (almost) 8 week mark is "We have no fucking idea when the episode is coming out, but we might next month". So as it stands, we're looking at a minimum of 11-12 weeks between the release dates of Episodes 1 and 2, assuming the ETA comes around January 1st and the episode comes out two weeks after (I think even that happening is a generous assumption at this point).

Does Telltale owe us a well-optimized game on a strict schedule? Perhaps not. But I like to think that Telltale Games is a professional company that follows some kind of protocol resembling an actual company. So, I think it's safe to say that they owe us a well-optimized game on a reasonable schedule. Not a strict one, where they're legally obligated to churn out a new episode every two months exactly, but a loose, flexible schedule to an extent.

But even if you can't agree with that, I think one thing Telltale irrefutably owes us in this relationship is information. The episode is going to take 12 weeks to complete? Okay, I can live with that, if they tell me why it is going to take 12 weeks. But they haven't given us anything. Literally the only information in the latest blog post that we didn't already know from the teaser at the end of Episode 1 is the fact that Jack is going to show up. Which is great. Except that they still don't have any information for us regarding the release date besides "It's not coming out soon." I'm sorry, but saying "Even we don't have any information" doesn't actually qualify as information.

The way I look at it, Telltale has a responsibility to either release the episodes on a reasonable schedule, or tell us why they can't. As it stands right now, they're doing a piss-poor job at both of those things.

So I've been lurking around here since episode 1 dropped and wanted to register an account just so I could offer my two cents. So I (like m

  • Telltale wasn't as vague about their release window as you make them out to be. From the steam page where I bought TWAU: "Episodes 2-5 will be released periodically until Summer 2014".

I really wonder how Telltale wants to honor this deadline, when the release of an additional episode takes over 3 months (they don't even guarantee that they will release the new ep shortly after the holidays -just their ETA for it. Might well be another 3 months from there).

I know Telltale delivers quality (at least with their recent titles), but if they obviously don't have the capacity to do two major releases simultaneously they simply should have stuck with one game until they are done; then start the next project.

The way they do things now is just frustrating for their paying customers.
