There's still ample time to make the date they've vaguely promised. Given the wording I'd take it to mean that the thing will conclude by the end of summer which is...what...August for the US?
Given this most recent update, I'd assume that the next episode will drop the first week of January with 3 in march, 4 in may and finally 5 in June/July.
I'm annoyed at how things are going, but I'm choosing to take the path of patient optimism until I'm proven horribly wrong.
I will say as well that I'm certainly just going to wait out the disc release of Walking Dead season 2 rather than leaping in right away.
Telltale wasn't as vague about their release window as you make them out to be. From the steam page where I bought TWAU: "Episodes 2-5 will be… more released periodically until Summer 2014".
I really wonder how Telltale wants to honor this deadline, when the release of an additional episode takes over 3 months (they don't even guarantee that they will release the new ep shortly after the holidays -just their ETA for it. Might well be another 3 months from there).
I know Telltale delivers quality (at least with their recent titles), but if they obviously don't have the capacity to do two major releases simultaneously they simply should have stuck with one game until they are done; then start the next project.
The way they do things now is just frustrating for their paying customers.
An update after The Holidays?! ..not the release?..
its already pass two month , and on the info it said** 4-6 **WEEKS .
U didnt update us … moreon anything , oh well u updated about the update thats gonna come in anthor half month , ty ..
I really hope that it will be worth the waiting and please release TWD before ! i cant wait any longer T-T
I purchased and played TWD season 1 when all the episodes were available and loved it ( one of the best games I've ever played),so when TWAU came out I figured I would try the episodic thing from the start and bought the season pass and loved the 1st episode but between the very long wait, the lack of info, and the extremely dissapointing news when of course there is any news(I mean I could care less about a screenshot) for me besides the episodes themselves there is nothing enjoyable about this episodic thing. I mean by now my excitement and hype for the next episode is gone and I will be waiting until the full package is out and on sale next time. This is just my opinion of course and while I get that some people like this style I unfortunately am not one of them.
Jagshemash! My name a Borat.
This delay is result of a evil Gypsy women, who cast a spell on this tell a tale company.

Whoawhoawewa!
Ok so I rather not go thru all these pages just to find out what this info was, was it honestly a update on when the next UPDATE will be coming and osmething about the release date?
The episodic release is another way for them to make money on an incomplete game. Games are fun indeed, but when I pay for a game I expect a FULL GAME. It's all part of a SCAM to get MORE money. Same thing as EA charging for all their dumbass games and releasing new sports games every friggin year with little improvements. By not providing solid information on updates they are saying, "Oh well you paid already we don't care anymore" to our faces. Bored? Buy another game of ours and play that one! It's bullshit. "Reduced Price"...yeah right it's more like, don't want to give us your money? Pay more in the long run. Scam artists at work. Each episode is 2 hours of gameplay according to the company themselves. Remember when Monkey Island was 40+ hours for a FULL GAME? Don't defend them, they've got what you want and they know it....
There is no update. The update is "some guys appearing in this episode and we will tell your more after the holidays". For them to call that an update is pure bullcrap. This episodic release thing is a scam to get more money and nothing more. I will not be buying any more games from them. I can pirate them just as easily when they are done with the episodes. Great games and terrible service lead to a less loyal fanbase. Learn to release a FULL GAME TTG!

I wanted to get WatchDogs .... that got delayed like half a year. South Park: Stick of Truth, almost a full year ....
One month and people get up in arms? Jeesh. It's a game, don't act like it's the end of the world! And if you 'forget' what you did and get mad about that? Just download the episodes and wait and play them all at the end. They aren't that huge of files.
I know the company is working hard and wanting to put out the best product that they can. Honestly, I've got plenty of stuff to do in my life and this is for leisure/fun. I'm not gonna get on to them but I'll wait until I get to get my hands on the game and enjoy it! May not be the popular opinion/option but that's fine. Just no need to spout hate simply because they have delayed their product. Trust me, they aren't the first to do it by a long shot and their delays really aren't that bad compared to plenty of other gaming companies.
So much hate against Telltale here ! Sounds like you guys would actually lynch them and rape their kids !
We're talking about only a few months here : Duke Nukem Forever was delayed fifteen years, so how do you fucking dare complain ?
And would you rather have a game full of bugs, glitches and aids and that would make your console explode and set fire to your house ? Is that what you want ?
And by the way, if you're so eager to play next episode it means that you have absolutely no life and live in your basement, and are probably virgins too - also on welfare.
You're so lucky Telltale even condescend to provide you with wonderful screenshots that should keep you entertained for two weeks (each), you ungrateful bastards.
TTG have taken their time with their games and they still tend have glitches in them, though. I have no problem releasing games whenever they want, but if people pay up for a season pass, they deserve more than vague updates and a couple of screen teasers. Its caviler behavior, to say the least.
And I think we can all agree Duke Nukem is the most overrated game franchise in history. I cant see how anyone could disagree with that bold statement of absolute truth. Nobody was waiting on it, except for a couple of people. I was kinda sad when it did come out because i couldn't make vaporware jokes anymore.

And I say to Telltale to not make promises of time that you can't keep. That is what's making people annoyed, not the fact that it's taking them a while to put out the game. I'd be more excited if they were like, "It is taking us a little longer than expected. We have to work out the kinks, so please be patient with us." instead of patronizing us with this "coming soon!" or "we're releasing a new episode every four-six weeks!" nonsense. If you can't deliver games as promised, then stop making those promises.
That's 'cause you're bound to the old notion of "time".
There's Time.
Then there's Valve Time.
and now there's Telltale Time, which fits somewhere between the two.
The problem I believe is, we were told, That this game was already delayed for the DLC of the Walking Dead, We were read in very fine detail, people kept repeating every four to eight weeks, Slowly the suspense start's to build they release their first show, people patiently wait here every day, then their told that it's going be more then three weeks from now,
What we would appreciate I believe is a little open communication, some people waited all week, just for news that could gone out on monday, It's lack of communication, if its delayed then reveal why, This is first time, ever, I believe they delayed so much given their prior history, just my two cents. I'll post here early next month,
we all have a rite to be pissed...just because other games are delayed .. dosnt mean its ok for this... to be delayed .atleast dukenukem didnt make you Pay for it in advance..bull#%#*
Since we've now seen how Telltale's PR strategy works, the update 'after the Holidays' might very well be a screenshot or two and (if we're very, very lucky) a release date at the end of January or some such. Long over 12 weeks after Episode 1. WIth only the sketchiest of communication with Telltale about what the deal is or what we should have been expecting, even though they must know that fans are generally expecting releases around the 6-8 week mark at the longest and, regardless of how many 'coming soons!' you throw at them, will view anything beyond that as a delay.
Telltale, for the love of god, please look at how badly you're handling this situation and rethink your approach for Episode 3. If the feeling is that its an episode that will require 12 weeks or beyond to finish properly, then manage expectations when everyone is so dead certain it will be much, much sooner. For an episodic game, dead silence punctuated by a random screenshot 8 weeks after the initial release isn't going to make fans excited. Its going to make them frustrated and angry.
You do realize that you don't have to pay in advance... you can wait for the season to come out and usually find good deals still if you really wanted to.

Shows how reliable wikis are. The other dates I found on the 'official' Walking Dead game wiki was the 20th and 21st of November, 2012. Those are the right ones?
Episode 1: April 24, 2012
Episode 2: June 27, 2012
Episode 3: August 28, 2012
Episode 4: October 9, 2012
Episode 5: December 20, 2012
Better check your sources again for that last episode.
Remember when Monkey Island was 40+ hours for a FULL GAME?
No, I absolutely don't remember that. Because it never happened...
don't want to give us your money? Pay more in the long run. Scam artists at work. Each episode is 2 hours of gameplay according to the company themselves.
In how far can it be a "scam" when they realistically tell you what you'll get before you buy?

Best not to even respond to that post, they don't really understand what the concept of a scam is, or, it seems, like anything about the gaming industry.

Not to mention they never announced release dates for Ep 2,3,4, or 5! People keep assuming based on the past games it'll be every month. They haven't said anything. There's no delay.
You do realize that you don't have to pay in advance... you can wait for the season to come out and usually find good deals still if you really wanted to.
Present AND past gaming industry. I am not among the few who put the full 120 Deutschmarks (60 Euro, 80$) on the counter for "The Secret of Monkey Island' or its successor, but as much as I love those games, they're probably both shorter than Telltale's "Tales of Monkey Island" from 2009, priced 35$.
I did buy Fate of Atlantis for my AMIGA though, and I have to say, games have gotten SO MUCH CHEAPER. PC games at least...
Best not to even respond to that post, they don't really understand what the concept of a scam is, or, it seems, like anything about the gaming industry.
That argument is valid, but does lead us to a problematic situation. If three months per episode is what Telltale means by periodically - and they certainly do not! - we'd end up with a Telltale game that would only be concluded within a full year. That's not Telltale's direction, seriously not, and of course TWaU will deliver the remaining episodes much, much faster.
I agree that what we have here is a lack of official communication as to the schedule they aim at. They did that for The Walking Dead's Season 2 without hesitation, and in my eyes it was always clear that Telltale absolutely MUST aim at the same kind of schedule for The Wolf among Us for their episodic concept to work out. During the last year, PR always avoided using the word 'delay' as it might have raised negative press, but in this particular case, I would very much prefer they came out and called the release of episode 2 "delayed" explicitly. Three months is a really, really large gap between episodes, and of course if Telltale doesn't communicate that anything is wrong, particularly the new people will expect the following episodes only after equally humongous chunks of the new year.
Three months between ep1 and ep2 is disappointing, but the community could maybe swallow it with a few big gulps. For that to happen however, Telltale will have to come out and explain that this wasn't according to plan .
Not to mention they never announced release dates for Ep 2,3,4, or 5! People keep assuming based on the past games it'll be every month. They haven't said anything. There's no delay.
TTG must have had a major programming problem with the the next episode, or they are stretched too thin with the new season of Walking dead being released at the same time TWAU is still in production. They also try to expand their products across every platform available, which could also lead to delays. Im not making excuses for them (ive actually sent TTG a nastygram requesting my season pass be refunded) but it might explain the long delay.
Poor Vainamonen. Must have been stressful after he got the TTG update ... "dammit, they're gonna give me hell on the boards, what am I going to tell them ?"
Anyway it STILL SUCKS !! THREE MONTHS !! There's not even enough games on the new gen consoles to help cope with that.
DANG.

What? No episode until January or February? That sucks man. We should stop making theories about the identity of the killer. Maybe we guess it right again and then we will have to wait another three more months
They got me here, i have pre ordered TWD season 2 when they opened the pre order because i trusted them to bring TWAU and TWD season 2 before the end of the year, like a present for us or something.
And now we have to wait again for a possible date and we got 2 screenshot...
At least i'm gonna play to the first episode of TWD S2 before the end of the year, but i'm not sure about buying anything from them for now.
There is no excuse as to why they have delayed it as long as they have. The other thing there is no excuse for is the** lack of communication*… more*. If a game is delayed, tell the people, especially if, like me, they have paid for a season pass. I won't be buying a season pass for Walking Dead Season 2.
What an interesting theory. People on the forum guessed the killer right, so Telltale rewrote the entire series to change te killer, hence taking double the time for the episode.

I still have the original box for Monkey Island 2 that my dad bought me back in '91. It says £39.99, if memory serves me correctly (looked for it just now but can't find it). Back then, I'm fairly sure there were 3 DM to the Pound Sterling. That shows me surprising price consistency across country borders. I have Secret as well but can't remember for the life of me how much it says on the box. Something is telling me £19.99 but until I find the boxes, I have no way of backing that up.
A speed run of MI2 took me 2.5 hours, I think (anyone remember those Livestream challenges Guru used to run?). Each chapter of it took 20 mins - 45 mins minimum, with 1h - 2h trying everything and taking it in at a casual pace. When compared with an average Telltale episode where speed runs per episode of Sam & Max and Tales of Monkey Island took 45 mins - 1h30, Telltale's episodes are more awesome for length.
Then we get number of episodes for the money. Back in the days of Sam & Max Season 1 and Wallace & Gromit, it was 6 episodes for $35. For Strong Bad, Sam & Max Season 2 and Monkey Island, it was 5 episodes for $35. So it was getting more expensive per episode, until Back to the Future hit, where it's been 5 episodes for $25 ever since. Bargain.
For MI2: 5 chapters (I'm calling the showdown at the end a separate chapter) or 2.5 hours for £35. Fast forward to TMI: 5 episodes or 5 hours for $35. This is doing the bare minimum to complete each game. On your second run through (when you're looking for all the nice extra tidbits), we're looking at 4 hours versus 8 hours. Still double the content for your money today.
Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. Most console and massive blockbuster PC games are now $60 rather than $35-40. Overall, the price is nominally higher, but we need to consider that the cost of making games has gone up and the value of money has dropped. I have no figures to back me up but I'm willing to bet that it now costs 10-15x more now to make a game than it did in 1990. I can't imagine the audience/sales being 10-15x as large now compared with in 1990. In that respect, games are now ridiculously cheap. Unfortunately, income isn't as disposable as it was back in 1990 for most of us. It's a balancing act.
Present AND past gaming industry. I am not among the few who put the full 120 Deutschmarks (60 Euro, 80$) on the counter for "The Secret of Mo… morenkey Island' or its successor, but as much as I love those games, they're probably both shorter than Telltale's "Tales of Monkey Island" from 2009, priced 35$.

Thank you for explaining you're human like the rest of us. It's a rare admission from anyone these days. I suppose what can confuse people is Puzzlebox was a moderator well before she got hired by TT to be their Community Manager (or whatever title they're using for the role now).
I really wish I could keep my emotions and personal feeling out of it when posting on social media as my company. I got into a fair amount of trouble with one of my bosses because I was too open and honest with a customer. Not a great move for me but at the time, I thought the customer was owed a full and truthful explanation as well as an apology.
Disclaimer time!!

A message I deleted raaaather quickly.
I recall people being spot-on about the Voodoo Lady while Tales of Monkey Island was released. They didn't change the script for that but they did add something to episode 3 because Majus had included it in that instalment of his popular "I wonder what happens in..." series of shorts, because they realised it really should have been there all along.

Uh really? And i thought that would be a nice Ending to the Year. Telltale really makes our Relationship complicated.
There, I gave you one. Was it as good for you as it was for me?
Poor Vainamonen. Must have been stressful after he got the TTG update ... "dammit, they're gonna give me hell on the boards, what am I going to tell them ?"
Anyway it STILL SUCKS !! THREE MONTHS !! There's not even enough games on the new gen consoles to help cope with that.
DANG.
Disclaimer time!!

I didn't get any update others didn't... got my info on the blog just like you did. In fact, just seconds before I read it, I had disputed a community member's idea that episode 2 comes out next year right in this thread.
A message I deleted raaaather quickly.
Not if they get the season in a Steam sale, or (much later on) a Telltale sale!
What an interesting theory. People on the forum guessed the killer right, so Telltale rewrote the entire series to change te killer, hence taking double the time for the episode.
Errrr... noooooo. But, nice.
Makes sense to bump it to next month. That way we can get alternating game releases.
Telltale will remember that.
I recall people being spot-on about the Voodoo Lady while Tales of Monkey Island was released. They didn't change the script for that but they did add something to episode 3 because Majus had included it in that instalment of his popular "I wonder what happens in..." series of shorts, because they realised it really should have been there all along.
That's fine for those who like both games. I'm not a fan of TWD franchise, so I probably won't buy it for a long time.
I'm not getting suckered into paying up front again. For now on I am waiting until each game series is done or at least a couple of episodes in.
