Clem's hat replicas?

edited January 2014 in The Walking Dead

Seriously I would buy one the minute they were available, as long as it would fit my larger head (I previously found some on ebay but the "one size fits most" is too small for me). Seriously if telltale (the absolutely amazing game company that they are [legit my favourite developers who I actually would love to work for, even if that meant moving from Australia to America, except I would't want to work on TWD, I love the game too much to want to work on it, if that makes sense]) But I really would love a replica of Clem's hat that was like it was in S1E1, and if it was another opportunity to give telltale my money, I would take it and give them my money

  • I really want a hat but i would only buy one if it was made for telltale and sold by them.

  • yeah you can get replicas but I would much rather get an official version.

  • Due to the licensing agreement TTG signed for production of this game they don't have the rights to sell merch, promo items are all you will be getting.

If you will only buy from Telltale then you're outta luck. They won't make any.

  • So what you are saying is we should all bombard Skybound?

  • Only ones I have found on zazzle are like a mesh type and I would much rather one that wasn't mesh or adjustable, just like the one in the game, plus I suck at design and crap, I really do, I would never be able to get it perfect (which is what it would have to be for me to be happy with it)

  • This is the one I found, but it would only work if your head was less than 23 inches, mine is more than 23 inches, which sucks

  • Keep checking eBat for "Clementine's hat" every once in awhile you will find one of the promo hats from TellTale (with blood and all that), but those are expensive (anywhere from $100-$400). eBay also has nice Clementine hats that look exactly like they do in the game, no mesh or anything, they aren't TTG items but they look very good (usually $15 to $25 so not bad). In fact.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-The-Walking-Dead-TellTale-Games-Clementine-Hat-NO-BLOOD-ultrafit-one-cap-/201011913761?pt=US_Hats&hash=item2ecd3e6421

  • That's the one I found, but when I checked with the people who sell it, they informed me that it would only comfortably fit someone with a head about 23 inches at most, my head is bigger, not by much, but by enough that it would be too uncomfortable to wear

  • Looks like it has some major design flaws (at least if you are trying to get a replica). Honestly, I would just as soon buy a hat closer to the in0game design and take it to a professional embroiderer. I've seen the basic hats just without the cursive D.

  • the ratty brim, the adjustable back, the fact it just looks flimsy, in game the hat looks more stable and solid, almost like a snapback, but that one is just, well crap, I'm getting to the point where I might do that, it might be the only way I get one that fits my big head, it also doesn't help that if I were to grow my hair out (which I am thinking about doing just cause) I legit have hair like Clem does in Episodes 1, 2 and the first half of 3

  • I know, I'm actually really disappointed by that hat, its like they didn't care and were like "whatever no one will care they will buy it anyway" which is really sad, they really should have put some effort into it, made them exactly like Clem's in game hat and make it different sizes, but also different stages from the game, like one version with the blood stain and one without

When they first added that hat to the official walking dead store i was excited until i saw their pics and the quality of it but as i wanted a Clementine hat i decided to take a risk and buy it, The quality is not very good and i am to embarrassed to wear it out due to the quality of it. I have uploaded some pics to a imgur album for you to see some of its flaws. http://imgur.com/a/pr1cd

  • that is so disappointing, you would think they would give their fans something good, not a piece crap, seriously, like how hard would it be to actually mass produce a decent hat that there is clearly a lot of demand for? If your head is less than 23 inches then a previous ebay link may be good for you

I don't get what the logic is with the wear on the brim, it's not even like that in the game.

It'd be passable if the stitches were blue but man they screwed it up.

The ebay one seems like the best option but they don't ship internationally.

They even made the wear exactly the same on both sides of the brim, hopefully someone else on ebay will start selling good hats and ship them internationally.

  • thats really strange especially as it also gives an international shipping price, I don't understand why they would have that there if they weren't going to ship international

  • The one from Ebay is not bad and i think it's the closest one to the original except the color must be a little more "dark blue"?.

  • Of what I have seen the ebay one and the promo one that they had in the playing dead episodes were both like a royal blue, in all honesty, if it wasn't for my head being so dam big, I would buy the ebay one in a heart beat

I suppose you are talking about this one?

Put any consideration into buying a base hat and get it embroidered?

  • That is probably what I will have to do, it's annoying to me that there isn't a decent "official" hat, let alone one in my size, but yeah, now I suppose I have to try and find a hat that is blue with a white front and in the right style, if and when I find one, I will post a link to the completed hat

If you want one that's as close to the original promo as it gets go to Richardson and enter
    Design number 69d115ed
You can make adjustments to make it more to your liking. It would be more awesome to have TTG's design code of course...
I have no idea what the prices are like, but the hats posted above from ebay are so crappy that I had to post this. Just look at a closeup of the D, the border looks horrible.

I made the design based on the promo hat I got, which is the same one Melissa is wearing, but without the blood.
This user got pretty close a while ago, but picked the wrong D Font and a slightly brighter blue in my opinion (Royal instead of Navy). I can't tell which blue the actual one has, but it looks darker.

This is what the original looks like on Melissa.

I just made a photo of my promo hat, so you can see that it actually is from Richardson and the Pro 185 model.
I have no Idea if it will actually look as similar once it's manufactured if you use my design code. I turned it inside out, so you can actually see the manufacturer and model.

I didn't ever order there. I just read the FAQ and saw that they only sell through Authorized Dealers and Distributors. There is a size chart though which you can check. I assume you'll be able to choose one of the flexifit sizes for that model. If that doesn't cover your size, check if "system 5" or "adjustable" could work for you. Then I could quickly redo the design for that.

Then you can try to find a dealer to order it for you. I found another one using the same design system. You're supposed to send them the design code and they'll send you a quote.

Ideally you would try to find a local dealer which offers that service, so he can measure your head correctly.

Or you can get it custom made at any trustworthy place. Take some pictures of the original with you. The Font of the D is called "Brush Script", but there seem to be slight variations of it at the top left of the line sometimes. The color i chose is alternating White/Navy, but White/Royal might work too depending on your preference.
The easiest thing is probably buying a stock model that looks like it, and have it embroidered based on the photo and the font name.
