Does anyone else feel a bit...

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Disappointed? I mean we wait, what, 4 months or whatever and I completed the episode in under 2 hours. Not to mention the season pass issue which okay may not entirely be TTGs fault but nevertheless should have been dealt with much quicker & the vast array of bugs with the episode, the whole of the previously & coming up scenes stuttered horribly for me so I couldn't even see what the heck was going on & there were loads of other niggling problems which really pulled me out of the immersion into the game. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed the episode but felt it wasn't as good as ep1, I expected more.

  • If you feel the need to complain, you could just go to the other threads made about this-sigh-.I'm not saying i agree, and i am not trying to be agressive.I am just throwing that out there.

  • No, I don't feel disappointed. Firstly, this is an episode of a much larger game. The idea that every episode must be 4 hours or more worth of content is a bit ludicrous, especially when you keep in mind Telltale is not a massive company on the same level as EA or Ubisoft. What's more, what we do have in 'Smoke and Mirrors' is trully great, maintaining the kind of sharp writing, disturbing twists, and dramatic pathos of a quality David Lynch film. I would consider even two hours of that in a game commendable.

Second, I'm sorry if you've had problems with your download but I encountered no errors. Perhaps you simply need to redownload or your system requires attention. On my console the game ran smoothly for all transitions and gameplay.

Lastly, the issue with the Season Pass was not Telltale's fault. This has been confirmed by Microsoft (hence the extended time-table and distribution of a redemption code. Something they would not have been required to offer it the error was Telltales...) as having been an authentication issue on their end with Season Pass accounts. An update is coming at some point over the next two days or so which will render the matter moot and I'm sure will provide valuable data for preventing this problem with future episodes.

So, all in all, unless you must complain about something, there really isn't anything to keep anyone from enjoying what was, in my humble opinion, an exceptional second episode.

  • I am not disappointed in the game at all. It was another great chapter in TWAU. My only problem is with how long it took to get here.

  • Huh guess it's just me then & I really don't see the need for all the dislikes I'm just voicing my opinion isn't that what the forums are for?

  • I'm sure it wasn't your intent, but your initial post sounded petulant. There's a difference between that and constructive criticism.

Despite the fact that I did enjoy some aspects of the new episode. Yes, I am kind of disappointed for some reasons.

I've edited them out because I no longer feel like sharing with this community. Majority of my posts are reverting to '✖'s except one or two I can't bring myself to completely delete.

  • What disappointed me was that none of my decisions effected the Next Time On: cut scenes. The only thing I saw change was Gren and Holly ganging up on the Woodsman and that is because of a decision to go after him in episode 1. My decisions in this episode don't feel relevant because even the short sighted outcomes are always the same no matter the decision made. Plus we don't see too much of the consequences from the last game (we don't hear from the escaped suspect: Woodsman or Tweedledee; Prince Laurence makes no appearance if he survives; etc.)

  • Dont be so sure Crane is the killer. We didnt see him do anything but feel up his Snow look alike and there are still three episodes left.

  • I'm somewhat with you on this. Although I didn't buy the game when it first came out (got it during the End of year sale on Live), I can imagine some players who waited for four months being disappointed with the lenght of the episode. The story was good and set up for episode 3 nicely, but you'd think with 4+ months, they would be able to code the game better so that it does not lag/glitch/freeze all the time.

  • I thought the episode was great. The thing that bothered me was the long delay

Lots of things bothered me, outlined in my thread here:http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/58206/the-big-episode-2-problem-discussion-thread/p2

Just wondering, to anyone who enjoyed the episode, could you post which choices you made? I have a feeling if you make all the right choices you won't bump into many of the problems this episode has, making you enjoy it more than others. Am just interested as I didn't enjoy it due to all the reasons above, but only certain choices make them happen.

  • Nevermind the fact that it doesn't do that for everyone, thereby somewhat invalidating accusations of being "laggy, glitchy, etc..."

Enjoyed it substantially. Didn't encounter any problems narratively or mechanically (even Lawrence missing can be explained later if moved to another episode). As for choices?

    Episode 1
    -Diplomatic with Toad's glamour breaking
    -Kind to Faith/Gave Her Money
    -Lied for Beauty
    -Friends with Colin
    -Supported Snow
-Saved Lawrence (Bigby does reference the conversation in Episode 2)
    -Uncovered Toad's lies.
    -Walked away from Grendel
    -Arrested Woodsman/Woodsman suspect

    Episode 2

    -Sympathetic to Crane
-Talked to Woodsman, full confession, no torture.
-Kind to Toad Jr, got all information
    -Supported Snow independance/Trip-Trap Bar
-Kind to Holly/Broach given/Sister's body given
-Defended Nerissa, didn't damage Georgie's club, took money, gave all cash to Nerissa.
-Lied for Beauty (again), didn't punch Beast a second time.

  • I was just talking about the 360 (should have specified that) and it's happened to the majority of people. Look on Youtube, there's people complaining about it or Youtubers playing with missing bodies and environments not loading properly.

  • So, that must be like... 2-3 hours of gameplay?

  • Terribly disappointed in the episode, and I doubt it bodes well for the quality of the rest of the season. I was interested after the first installment, but the long wait combined with what I found to a be a low quality episode 2 will keep me from ever buying a TTG before the whole season is out, reviewed, and on sale. For the first time (I played TWD) I just quit the game in the middle of an episode before finally getting around to finishing it later. In fact, after how uninteresting I found episode 2, I'm not sure I'll even play the next episodes. Lesson learned. Hopefully TWD2 is more my style.
