    Ooooh yeah, definitely getting it.

Probably on PC; I'd get it on xbox, but mine's currently off getting repaired (red ring of death) and I don't have the patience to wait for it come back first :)

 Are those really the system requirements? I don't think I'm going to be able to run it... :(

Yes they are. Way too high for me too.
  • edited July 2009
I hate the way that game looks, definately not getting it.
  • edited July 2009
For ten bucks -- absolutely! If the remake is bad, at least you get the original. Not that I expect it to be that bad.

Oh, and it's the PC version for me. Xbox is for sissies. ;)

Yes, I will buy it to support LucasArts new direction. Bought Loom and Indy Last Crusade from steam (installed steam just to buy them) too last week.

Will also buy it on Wii if it ever get ported.

Been playing Fate of Atlantis on Wii the last few days too - great nostalgic fun!

I am tempted, through all this new Monkey Island enthusiasm I have deliberately not replayed the first one again, this might be a nice time filler till we wait for Episode 2. Anyone? Ok who am I kidding, I'm not tempted, I am there at minute one, no idea on price yet though.
I'll be buying it AND reviewing it at scummgames.net. Then I'll be reviewing a few more "older" games, while I build the website further. I'm actually playing through CMI at the moment for review! (I'll then review the other MI's, before venturing on to other games).

Both versions for me, It's cheap as chips.

Its the MI I've played the least, and not for the longest. (not for the longest? its been the longest since Ive played it? never mind)

I want to buy the old games to support LEC but I can't justify it at the moment with other expenses. If I didn't own them already I would, but I think I'll just wait until later to pick them up. It just seems stupid when I have Fate of Atlantis' original CD version sitting next to me and the other games legally obtained and on my harddrive with Scummvm.

I have exactly 800 points on my Xbox Live account. I've decided I'll give the XBLA demo a whirl to see if I can get the game running on my TV. Those backgrounds on a widescreen television is a nice thought.
  • edited July 2009
Picking this up on XBLA and may well see fit to get it on Steam as well, later. I love everything about what I've seen so far, except perhaps to admit that hair is a little odd - but really mainly in that cover shot. In game I have no problem.

Wth.. I'm sure it needs a higher spec processor than Tales, that can't be right. At least I'm ok with all the other specs.

I'm hoping I can buy this, I put away 30 pound into my paypal as I can't pay instant. Tales just cost me 22.04, so if it's 7.96 and under I may be getting it on the release date :P If not, another 10 days wait for me ^_^ I'm new to Steam though. I signed up, but I'm not sure if I have to download and install the program just for buying games. yeah I need it for playing online, but I don't. Tales is the first online game I've bought, so I haven't a clue.

I will be getting it on PC i never really played the old school versions i was allways playing curse of monkey island multiple times (best in the series imo)
  • edited July 2009
i'm gonna buy it as soon as availale on the steam website, no way to play it on xbox with an xbox controller i need my mouse to play Monkey Island!!!

I'll buy it immediately. Support LucasArts, it's the only way to have them making adventures again. I've also bought Indy 3 and LOOM again, I already own original copies but darn, they're so cheap I could do it.
  • edited July 2009
I'll buy it for my Xbox 360.
  • edited July 2009
I'm definately getting the SE tomorrow, even though it will be my third copy of the game. It'll be weird to play through MI1 and having it feel fresh and different for the first time in over 15 years.
  • edited July 2009
I'd buy it if I had the money right away...but I won't for a bit. Soon as I do, though, it's mine!

I don't want them making adventures again unless they know what they're doing. All the adventure developers from the golden era are all gone now. The last thing we need is a bad adventure game. They just better know what they're doing if they decide to make more games. I think that was part of the idea why LA gave TTG rights to develop TMI. If they're going to do adventures again they need to get devs who know adventures inside out and have experience or it's just going to disappoint everybody and they won't make any money anyway.

Damn, I was hoping on getting it but if those are the requirements I'm going to have to wait a while.
  • edited July 2009
    I'll be buying it ASAP.
  • edited July 2009
Well, i am boycotting Lucasarts as a whole, i've been doing it for a while now... but for this one time? I think i'll put all hatred aside and get the game :)
  • edited July 2009
It's going to be awesome, wish they would release some hours earlier though ;)
  • edited July 2009
I'll buy the 360 version, because of HD and 5.1 sound. Hah

indeed! :p allthough point+click clearly works better with a mouse, I think I can put that aside for 37inches of HD MI goodness.

    In my case, 40 inches

    ha!

Wow. I don't understand why you'd want to play a remake of a classic pc game on a console . Really, wouldn'T it ruin the mood? :/

Much bigger screen, better sound, achievements, etc.. I'd much rather play it on the Xbox. Generally, I do prefer point & click, but dual analogue sticks work pretty well too, just not quite as fast.

Shame the wi-fi adaptor on my PC has died, it's going to require some clever wiring to get my 360 online tomorrow morning.

Maybe that's a problem with the bird-and-fish puzzle

I mean, don't you have nostalgia of when you played this game back in the days? With your mouse and keyboard. I dunno...maybe i'm being kinda weird, but i want to recreate the situation to live this nostalgic bit of goodness to the max. Of course, i never played the original but, that's how i'd do it. For me, playing point n clicks on consoles is the equivalent of playing a fighting game on the pc. It just won't happen ( except maybe sf4;/ )

Of course I do but I'm probably in the minority and even then I'm not sure if I really do (so the of course is moot O_o). Catering to the desires of only the 'old skool' that originally played this game would be commercial suicide, we need new MI fans and we need a modern interface and we need for this to be a success without TTG/LA doing a George Lucas and leaving us underwhelmed by a new take on the old (I can say that right?). Even I, old fart of continental Europedom played the old games with nostalgic hat recently and felt a bit jaded by the older approach/interface. Let's embrace the new, at least it's not MI4. :) :) :) :)

    Tomorrow should be cool.

I suspect some of you are worrying too much about the requirement for a 3 GHz processor. It says a 3 GHz pentium 4 is required... Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Pentium 4 at this point is a fairly old processor, and probably almost any Core Duo could handle the processing workload required for SoMI:SE. Hopefully. I guess I'll find out if it works on my E4300 Core 2 Duo tomorrow. Which is a pretty low-end Core processor. Although I guess many people on this board probably have older processors than mine. And I'm hoping it will run in a resolution lower than 1080p, since my monitor only goes up to 1280x1024.

Still the requirements do seem a little heavy considering the age of the game. Must be all those beautifully re-painted 2D backgrounds and piratey sprites.

I hope, they also did the demo. Not only will it demonstrate the true hardware demands, it also has its very own dialogs. It's not just a scene taken from the game like demos usually are. If you never played the demo, you really should give it a try.
Maybe that's a problem with the bird-and-fish puzzle
The seagull flies longer each time you kick the plank. Do this 4 or 5 times, and you should easily manage that with the worst input device you can think of.
The grog puzzle needs many more clicks in time, but also here, if I can do it with two mugs using the mouse, it should be easy to do with all 5 with a less adequate input device.

I'm running on an Athlon XP 2600. I can comply with the other requirements. Also my CRT monitor does 1920x1088 with ease at 85 Hz. I wonder which frame rate I could expect with it. MI1 has only about 10 fps to begin with, so how much is still there to slow down anyway?
I wouldn't mind switching to a lower resolution if it helps increasing performance. I'm much more excited about the voice acting and re-recorded music.

It should not be. It is doable with keyboard only since every time you retry it the bird flys a bit longer.

Twelve hours away :D! I'm so eager to listen to the remixed soundtrack and voices...

I put a lot of thought into it and I think I will be playing TSOMI SE on the Xbox 360. I am not sure how well a controller will translate to the original keyboard and mouse controls but I will give them a shot.

    I'll be there like shareware.

I was going to get it until I found out that it was going to be Steam. Not a fan of the graphics to be honest. If you could have the voices with the old style or they used the original picures that they scanned for backgrounds then I might be more interested.

I'll get the soundtrack if they ever release it though.
  • edited July 2009
Yeah, I really really hope they release the soundtrack. it sounds fantastic

There were no original pictures, MI2 was the first Lucasarts game where backgrounds were scanned and not just painted on a computer.

    I don't think I'll be getting this.

Guybrush looks like an idiot in the LucasArts remake (not at all like Telltale's Guybrush) and it seems the animation is pretty crappy too. So the only real advantage is the audio track. I think I'll pass and maybe I'll just replay the original in ScummVM instead.
