Honestly, I thought the second half of season 4 was trash but that's just me. Didn't like it all until the final episode when Joe and the hunters showed up (Plus the DC trio), but 2 was the worst by far. Anyways...
Season 3 - Thankfully The Governor provided a much needed break from the Rick stuff.
Season 1 - I found the 1st couple eps to be nothing special, but started getting good once the group properly formed.
Season 5 - This was pretty decent all things considered.
Season 2 - A bit bland but Shane was a better character than I gave him credit for looking back. Especially when you compare him to the characters now.
Season 4 - Good lord the early eps where they were all at the prison were some of the boringest eps I have ever seen. Thankfully they started stepping it up later on.
Season 6 - Just complete garbage. Rick's group are overpowered, tired and some have survived for longer than they deserve. I thought the lunatic at the end was gonna give us a death but instead we get a sorry ass cliffhanger.
Season 5 – The best, in my opinion. Action-packed, lots of character development, and, while it deviated from the source material from time to time, I believe it was for the best, for the most part.
Season 6 – It started with six strong episodes, weakened from that point on, picked up on episode ten, and then went down again until the season finale.
Season 4 – Didn't mind the so called "bottle episodes." Good story-telling, except for "Still."
Season 2 – This one was okay. I didn't really care about the slower pace.
Season 1 – Season 3 – Season 4A – These three are on a tie. There were so-- utter-- horrible-- freaking-- ugh, I oppose to consider them as canon. All of them deviated from the comics, and the result was disastrous.

I did a similar list for episodes! AMC TOP 5 EPISODE RANKINGS
My list for Season rankings are as follows:
Season 5
Season 6
Season 4
Season 3
Season 1
Season 2
I don't know other people's reasons, but I liked how Season 4 was more character driven. They had several episodes that focused on just a few characters(The Governor; Daryl and Beth; Tyreese, Carol, Lizzie and Mika; Rick and Carl; etc.) not jumping around so much. Part 1 of Season 5 was like that too.
4 6 5 1 3 2
Season 6 was pretty damn good except for a few Episodes and the last 30 seconds. I feel like people only put it so low because of the cliffhanger.
I'm in a rush, so I'll make this quick.
I'm not sure, all the seasons seem to be even in the "That was incredible!" to "Well that was shit."
Honestly, Season 6 would have probably been my favorite season if they didn't literally ruin it in the last 10 seconds.
I know a lot hated season 2 but that personally was my fav and i hate to say it but for me the show has not been as good since season 4
1. Season 1. It's still awe-inspiring no matter how many times I watch it. Days Gone Bye is really one of the purest, and best pieces of entertainment in my book. The story, the amazing actors, and Bear McCreary's music are all so perfect when blended together. Mercy of the Living continues to be the greatest piece of music to come out of the Walking Dead franchise.
2. Season 5. The Terminus storyline as well as the beginning of Alexandria are two major plot points that were handled extremely well. The Distance and What Happened and What's Going On are some of my favorite episodes in the series.
3. Season 4. Awesome all the way through. There's not much more to say than that.
4. Season 2. It definitely was slow, but what was good was really good. The entire story of Shane in this season is really what did it for me.
5. Season 6. It wasn't bad, really! There were so many solid episodes! It's just process of elimination by now. Last Day on Earth was still awesome!
6. Season 3. Some good, some bad. I have little to no qualms! Like I said, it just falls here because I like the rest better!
For me it goes:
Where's Season 3?
1>2>3>4>5>6
You can start to see a trend
Not there for a reason.
3>5>4>1>2>6
1- Seasin One
2- Season Two
3- Season Six
4- Season Five
5- Season Four
6- Season 3... This Season was just terrible.
Season 2 will likely always be my favorite. I didn't mind the slower pace to it, it felt nice to settle down and see how the group adjusted to the world around them.
It introduced several great characters including Herschel. I loved the search for Sophia and her reveal coming out of the barn was one of the top moments of the series for me. I liked seeing Daryl fight to find her and provide value to the group while also trying to establish his place within the group.
Most of all, the Shane arc is the best thing TWD show has ever done. It was there the entire season even barely bubbling up at times with Shane back talking or voicing his displeasure toward Rick. Seeing him kill Otis and sink further and further into his madness was amazing. Barenthal killed it. The dynamic between Rick and Shane was just fantastic culminating in Shane's escaped hostage sham and ensuing conversation. Throw in pregnant Lori and all those questions of who the father was, Shane telling Rick his woman was broken and he didn't know how to fix her, that he was a better man and father than Rick, Rick can't keep Lori safe etc. it was so well done, just the perfect buildup
It meant so much to Rick. It was the best season for me.
