Why the discontent over "bumping" threads?

Does anyone consider that there are members who haven't seen old posts and would like to add their opinion or theories, answer the question, or defend their favourite characters?? I get that it takes the place of a new discussion, but isn't adding to an existing post better than having multiple discussions rehashing the same things? Just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree.

  • But the point is that these threads are dead for a reason. No one wanted to add anything to the discussion anymore. If a new user has an idea for a thread, then he should just post it instead of reviving threads that have been dead for years and whose OP might have left long ago.

We prefer people only bump threads if something new and relevant comes up to discuss, or if the topic is niche and specific. Otherwise, it's better to make a new thread if the topic you are discussing is fairly common.

Because people should really check the date of the OP so they know when it was posted and it can frustrate people. I will admit, I've made the mistake of commenting on old threads before - though not being the one to bump them.

Also just like @EpicMustacheGuy said: those threads are dead for a reason and they should really make their own thread instead of reviving a dead one.
