What new themes do you wanna see in season 3?

Whether they're political, religious or social, what kind of new and previously unexplored themes you wanna see in the third installment of The Walking Dead?
Mine are:

  • Religious Extremism:
What's a better time to practise your weird and twisted religious duties than a worldwide zombie apocalypse? Just think about it, we could see things like the KKK, a new Islamic Caliphate (not ISIS since they don't exist in that timeline), some sort of Satanic group or even a small cult. Just imagine Clementine and Javier crossing paths with a small cult that captures them and does whatever horrible thing the mind can imagine.

  • Communism:
I think we've never seen a truly communist group in any kind of TWD media, so how about Telltale trying to pull off something like that? At least it would make Telltale's own adaptation even more unique than the others.

  • Horror:
This is the one that I want to see the most, even though TWD belongs to the Horror genre, we've never seen a truly horrifying TWD episode, and by horrifying I mean being-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of horror, it could be a whole episode or just a part of it, kinda like the 2nd episode of Michonne, just more hardcore.

So, what do you guys think?

Comments

  • By 'horror' do you mean gore? Because there was a ton of it in Michonne.

And considering were in Season 3 i think its a good time for this one: 'Rebuilding Society' or atleast a convincing possible new begining.

  • No, I mean the extreme horror that has you on the edge of your seat, kinda like playing a Silent Hill game.

  • Not new...

    Better. I want better themes.

  • I don't really care, but something better than being relegated to an observer of a boring rehashed character with all the predictability of a toddler.

    Slavery.
A group that trades slaves for food with others groups would be interesting. Also would fit the mark thing if the slaves are marked.

  • Michonne Episode 2 had that?......

Your ides are game-wise interesting. Me likes that.

I want a smart yet scary antagonist/villian and exploration of manipulation, lying, deceiving.

    • Recovery

The idea of genuinely sitting for a moment, taking the world in, recounting your decisions, thinking whether you regret them or not, wondering what could have happened. Maybe even just crying and lettings things out. Going on and on, but only hoping for small iotas of time where you can just recover, be yourself, forget the world around you and delude yourself if just for a moment, that you're safe and happiness is possible. A heavier focus on recovering from traumatic events and the idea that society may rebuild one day and you have to consider what it's like, who you are, and what role you have to play in it. Something like mental recovery would be good, really showing the brutal impact of our choices.

    • I want an antagonistic faction (The one that's possibly marking the walkers) to make the Whisperers look like a bunch of pussies
    • I want this season to fuck your moral compass so hard, no matter what you do, you'll feel like a piece of shit for your choices
    • More Clementine development/recovery
    1. Recovery
    2. No more Ben and Sarah choices!!! (AKA "Do you save the """liability""" character or not? Come on, Telltale, you used this twice now. We get it, especially after the terrible treatment of Sarah...)
  • Season 1 was about redemption. Season 2 was about trust. Season 3 should be about recovery. (I know a few other people on this thread think the same thing.)

  • I would like to see hope back as a theme.

  • I think it was more in episode 3 when Michonne was having those hallucinations of her kids running around the house. Now that freaked me the hell out!

  • I would love a new theme for my PS4...

jk. The theme of sanity would be good. I'd love to see someone who really lost it from the apocalypse. Like maybe a whole cult of people who believe becoming the undead is living forever, and sacrifices individuals to them. Just plain crazy unlike the "crazy, but still civilised" antagonists from the first two seasons.

  • The religious extremism thing sounds like an awesome idea. I personally think it'd be even more awesome if it was some made up religion that was started by a strange community in the ZA and was only brought into existence when the zombie apocalypse came. It would just be kind of a weird belief system that some people come up with.

Besides the entire religion theme, it sounds like a terrible idea to some, but I would honestly like to see a little theme of selfishness and temptation amongst the protagonists. I've always thought it was interesting when writers introduce a little bit of that into their protagonists. It just makes the main characters have more depth to them, imo. I don't know, I just think showing a protagonist go through even a little bit of being a selfish asshole or border lining on it strengthens their character for me. Whether or not people realize it or like to admit, everyone has moments that they knowingly make an selfish asshole decision. It's just part of being a human being. We all have our ups and downs. Of course, I wouldn't want Clem or Javier to be selfish assholes forever or even a long period of time, because I feel like that'd just ruin their relatability, but just a handful of scenes that show just enough to make them feel even more real and developed as characters.

  • New interesting characters like the cabin groups but please don't rush their deaths i want to see how new character development grows on me

    badass antagonist like carver

    long length of each episode

return of the other 400 days character like eddie, wyatt ,vince and give them more screen time

  • I'll be so disappointed if they don't use this brilliant idea.

  • Actually it looks for the opposite.

But past attempts to create communist countries show us what the messy result is if there are too many people. That is why it would be so simple and effective in a small community.

Deanna even said, "looks like the communists won after all," back in Season 5.

  • "Liabilities" of the group becoming baddass

  • Maybe a smaller theme could be dealing with past trauma. Clem could have a nightmare about some of her choices in S2 like watching Carver get his face smashed in, leaving Sarah, killing Kenny or letting Jane die. Might be a nice touch to show that choices from last season still matter to some extent.

  • Hell yes. I think it's too far into the apocalypse to have so many liability characters tbh. I doubt there's just that many people that haven't lifted a finger the entire time, but imo, even if someone's been holding your hand the entire fucking time you're bound to at least have some capability of surviving and being fucking awesome.

    JUST CONFIRMED

The main villain for Season 3 will be a man named Muhammad Dixon (unrelated to Daryl Dixon from the show). He's a Muslim and a white-supremacist. He founds a satanic communist cult that brands it's members. His men hunt anyone and everyone who isn't in their cult, hiding in the shadows... waiting... watching...

    Muslim and Satanic? How even?

EDIT: Oh wait, never mind, I get the joke now :P

  • Hella yes

Well with a new playable protagonist and Clem getting older. I think the biggest theme should be about how as pseudo parents of Clem we have to learn to let Clem become her own person and make her own decisions. As parent's all we can hope is that we armed her with the skills to surrvive in this new world and that she makes good decisions without us guiding her every step of the way.

  • I should mention, the best horror-themed episode of The Walking Dead was 'Starved For Help', if Telltale could replicate that kind of vibe but make it darker and more tense with a gruesome theme, then that'd be amazing.

  • I'd love some really dark moments. Something that's likely to scar our characters, physically and mentally.

I think it'd be great if we see a bit of insanity from Clem. Not full on crazy but something similar to what Rick and Michonne went through.

  • I think someone else mentioned it, but I would love if they explored the character's sanity and the impact the ZA has had on their mind. I want them especially to let us into Clem's psyche a bit more, after all the extreme trauma she's been through I honestly feel that she has been unrealistically mentally stable, esp in S2. Like she has to have PTSD by now, no question about it. This might sound weird but I want to see a more mentally vulnerable side of Clem, it would make her more relatable and realistic than she's been so far.

  • A white Muslim? Interesting..
