What were your first impressions of Kenny?

When you first encountered Kenny on Hershel's Farm what were your first impressions of him?

Comments

  • He seems like a nice, friendly and logical persion.

Ugh how wrong I was there

  • I thought he was okay.

  • Nice dude with a happy family.

  • Good question. I didn't really have any kind of first impression of Kenny. He was just another character on the farm for me. It was the message "Kenny appreciates your loyalty" when I stood up for Duck against Larry at the drug store when I became a fan.

    Double post.

  • He seemed like a fairly decent fella. He was friendly, polite, and had a touch of humour, so quickly became one of the first characters I found myself actually liking.

  • A family guy (no pun intended) who's also pretty loud.

  • I thought he was a good guy, after he didnt help me with Sean I wasnt so sure what to think, but I knew he still had good intentions, so I defended him in the drug store and was glad to see him come back and help us.

  • I thought he was cute and funny, although I was iffy about his morality from start to finish in Season One. In Two, I was pretty displeased that he came back instead of Christa or Lilly until it they set up the Luke/Kenny thing.

  • He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He was polite, funny, and friendly. Kenny also came off as a family guy. Overall, he was very likeable at first.

  • A southern family-oriented man, honest, and quite loud, who appeared to be a little self-centered. I didn't get the impression that he would become a main character, to be honest, up until he drove Lee and Clementine to Macon.

  • It kinda reminded me of the scene in the comics where Rick and his group meet Tyreese and his family. I can see some analogies there.

  • Why though? I don't think Kenny did anything wrong in episode 1 (besides the arguably decision of not helping Shawn, which he regrets himself, which I also understand as well, since I would also save my child first and put him to safety, too. Any parent would do that. It happened very quick, and in that heat of the moment, you can't think clearly, moreso if your kid's life is in danger.), he even comes to save you even if you didn't save Duck or defend him at the drugstore, only changing his line. I think it was something like:

"I'm not gonna let anyone else get eaten today. Especially a good friend."
"I'm not gonna let anyone else get eaten today. Even if he's an asshole."

    An asshole.

  • I saw him for what he is, a good person.

  • "Damn, what a god-like 'stache!"

  • He seemed like a decent guy who cares deeply about his family.

Honestly, my first impression of him changed really fast after he didn't help Shawn, and then when episode 3 came along... Wowza.

  • The moment he said he was from Florida I knew what type of guy he was.

  • So did you already know that crazy shit just comes out of his mouth sometimes?

The moment he said he was from Florida I knew what type of guy he was.

  • Powerful 'stache.

Er, but really, I thought he looked like a okay guy. As the episode progressed, I knew me and him were gonna be pals.

  • idk. I'm pretty superficial sometimes, not that I like it. When I saw him, I thought he had a terrible sense of humor, scaring Clem with the spiders in her hair thing. Later, he was practically moking me when I wold him that "I would talk with Clem" about going with him, he looked like the kind of person that, in the very inside, don't have much respect for children. Also, I didn't like how he said that "Duck was dumb as a bag of hammers" (also, horrible alegory [and more disrespect for children]), and I hated how, when we got to the drug store, inmediatly started to bark orders to everyone, like if he was an autority figure (you guys know what I think of autority. Autority kills freedom), with thirst of power.

    So, yeah, fuck Kenny.

I thought he seemed like a nice dude, and I really wanted him to stick around for the game.

Pretty much felt that way throughout the entire season, if I'm being honest. Even in light of the moments where he did some bad shit, I still liked him and wanted him to make it. Was hoping his family would make it out alright too, or at the very least one of them would survive. Both of them dying at the same time definitely hit pretty hard. Especially the fact that Katjaa of all people killed herself. Some people question the writing of that, but I just thought it was really tragic to see someone that showed so much restraint and mental fortitude finally reach a breaking point where they simply couldn't take it anymore. Maybe it resonated more because I had someone in my family do the same thing, someone that I never thought would do something like that, but that's another story.

  • I realized that He was a good guy, when he give Lee and Clem a ride towards Macon drug store even though I blamed him for living Shawn with the walkers. And later he helped Lee when Larry punched in Lee's face, he always cared about his family first just like Larry did

  • I did indeed. I'm from Florida myself so crazy shit comes outta my mouth too. ;)

You mightn't have found what Kenny had said was funny, but in no way does that mean he's going out of his way to disrespect children. By the way the scene plays out and by how Kenny speaks, it's very clear he's only joking and isn't actually being serious, so I have no idea how you'd take offense to such innocent comments.

and I hated how, when we got to the drug store, inmediatly started to bark orders to everyone, like if he was an autority figure (you guys know what I think of autority. Autority kills freedom), with thirst of power.

The scene in the drugstore, where Kenny takes control of the situation and instructs everyone to take a position, ensuring that they do what needs to be done, is in my view, a pretty positive attribute. In a serious crisis, you'll most likely need someone who knows what to do, when to take charge and recommend the course of action that's essential, so again, I can't understand why you'd see it as a negative thing, especially when it's quite clear Kenny was in no way looking for any sort of "power" in that moment. He was very obviously only doing what he believed was the best way to benefit everyone, and to say he was looking for power, when it's never even been a personality trait of Kenny's to be power hungry, is just plain wrong.

From my interpretation of your comment, you're only trying to find petty reasons for disliking his character when he's not yet done anything to even deserve such a response.

  • Politics? The hell!!!

Well, being from Florida, I imagine that know all about politics, Kenny.

  • People in Florida act like they care but they really don't.

Well, being from Florida, I imagine that know all about politics, Kenny.

  • Hillbilly pornstar moustache

    Just me?

  • He seemed like an ok guy, but as the episodes progressed his egoism really started to show.

  • He revealed his majesty onto my blasphemous mind and made me accept him as our lord and savior. Also powerful 'stache. One of the greats.

  • Sick mustache bro! Oh you're from Florida? I have a very good that lives there. I can tell Kenny was also priority # 1 Dad that could do Dad things and say Dad things like you'd see here and there. Hopefully we can get along very well.

  • One of those family guys, cares about his family a lot. There all probably gonna die because its the walking dead. Tbh I still like him, he carried on through It all despite the fact that he could've gave up Long ago. He still cared for Clem and developed a love for AJ, he only ment well.

  • I thought he was okay.. I got irritated when he didn't help Shawn...

  • He seemed ok.

Never has a first impression been more wrong.

  • He was not okay.

He seemed ok. Never has a first impression been more wrong.

  • Well, I knew that fairly after I thought he seemed ok.

    He was not okay.

  • He seemed like a very friendly and down-to-earth kind of guy.
