Hmm, that's surprising. They usually don't go back and add notable features like that to their older titles after they have been finished. I wonder if they could also go back and add that feature to Season 1 and Wolf so we can finally see our choices for those games on the website.

Come on now, don't be selfish. I'm really happy about the fact that we are getting a Season 3 for The Walking Dead. I also think that 120 hours are pretty enough for a game.

  • That makes no sense. Its like you're trying to say that they planned on splitting the first episode from beginning. If Episode 2 was just a name change they wouldn't say that the game the episode was split into 2. They would just release episode 2 as its own episode and not part of the first one.

They just changed the title of Episode 2. It's not like they cut a whole episode out. If they had not planned this from the start and if thi

You misinterpreted me; I'm saying the opposite. I'm saying that Walking Dead New Frontier was always going to be a five episode Series. I don't suspect they literally split episode 1 into two halves only just recently; I think they just changed the name of Episode 2 to be "Ep 1 Part 2" for marketing reasons related to the delay of Episode 1. If they had literally split episode 1 into two halves when it was formerly just one episode, than that would mean that New Frontier was originally only four episodes. However, New Frontier was always going to be five episodes.

I asked mostlypoptarts in a PM if it was Episodes 1 and 2 being released on the 20th, as opposed to two separate parts of Episode 1, and she said yes. Again, I think they just changed the name of Episode 2 to "Episode 1 Part 2" for marketing reasons related to the delay of Episode 1.

I agree that having her publicly clarify that would be helpful to people.

I don't know it still sounds weird to me. Because for me it looks like this.
season 3 is confirmed to have 5 episodes
couple months/weeks later were told that episode 1 Is too big and had to be split into 2 episodes
season 3 STILL has 5 episodes.

  • I think it was just well intentioned but weird phrasing from their marketing. I'm guessing that they wanted to sugar coat the delay of Episode 1, or that they wanted it to look like they had a good, deliberate reason for only delaying Episode 1 while still giving people Episode 2 at the same time they normally would have gotten it. As I said in another post, I am betting they delayed Episode 1 by a month mostly to work on further optimizing their engine so that they did not have the same issues as Batman.

Somebody told me you'll be able to transfer save files from previous generations consoles to the new ones. Is this true?

  • They are going back to monthly episodes, like in the days prior to Walking Dead Season 1. Expect Episode 3 in January or February at the latest.

Hey guys, just a reminder that the season premiere will be a two-episode two-parter (aka, Episodes 1 & 2 make up the two-part premiere, "Ties That Bind.") Kind of similar to how some tv-shows have special two-hour premieres that are two episodes!

Really excited for you guys to play it, I've been playing it for the past few days and am ready for it to be out in the world so I can talk about it!!

Also, did you guys like the concept art we posted on Instagram/Twitter/etc. yesterday? There's more of that coming :)

Episodes 1 and 2 are being released on the same day.

They did not literally split Episode 1 into two parts. Episode 2 is still its own episode but they renamed it to "Episode 1 Part 2".

Instead of Telltale releasing Episode 1 in November and Episode 2 in December, they delayed Episode 1 by a month. However, the rest of the episodes were not delayed and we are still getting those whenever we normally would.

So, Episodes 1 and 2 are both releasing in December. They changed the name of Episode 2 to be "Episode 1 Part 2", but that is only a name change.

Because we aren't getting all five episodes in one premiere.

We obviously don't know the plot of Episodes 1/2, but I'm guessing that with whatever happens in the plot within these two episodes, they retroactively decided both episodes had ended up feeling more connected than typical Telltale episodes, and so they used the one month delay of Episode 1 to treat it as if it was a two parter episode of a TV show like mostlypoptarts said.

Because when a TV show has a two/three part episode, they don't rename the entirely of that Season's episodes to be "BlahBlahBlah Part 12".

As I said in my post edit above, I guess that they used the one month delay of Episode 1 to treat it and Episode 2 as if they were a two parter since both episodes premiere on the same day, seeing as how they did not want to delay Episode 2. That is all.

  • Ill try to explain my confusion the best as I can.
Basically Telltale said that TWD:ANF will have 5 episodes.
a couple of weeks/months later a.k.a The game awards Kevin said that the episode premier was too big to be in one episode so they had to make it into a 2 part, basically meaning that episode 1 and 2 are the episode premier. Now before we saw that episode 2 was actually supposed to be called divided we fall before it was changed into "Ties That Bind: Part TWO". Now I wonder what actually happened with "divided we fall" because for me it doesn't feel like it was just a name change.

I guess the best thing could be if Kevin only said "we're releasing episode 1 and 2 in the premier" instead of adding this "Too big so had to be made into 2 episodes" which made some confusion in here.

They changed the title because they are releasing two episodes of a Season on the same day. If "Divided We Fall" truly was an entirely different episode, it would not make any sense for Telltale to drastically alter the story or entirely remove that episode on such short notice. They would be throwing away all the money and effort they put into developing that episode, and it would make the story less consistent in Episode 3 onward. If "Divided We Fall" and "Ties That Bind: Part 2" were significantly different, they would surely sooner do the smart thing and release six episodes, instead of randomly deleting the original second episode in a Season.

I guess they figured hyping it up as a "Two Part" premiere would get people more excited. That, and I assume they also figured it was easier to explain away the two episode release as a "two-part" episode instead of just saying they held episode 1 back by a month to work on the engine optimization. Describing it as a "two-part" premiere makes it sound like more of a big event, and also makes the choice to release two episodes in one day seem like it was more deliberate (as opposed to making it look weird for them to just randomly release two episodes in one day).
