most disappointing sequel to anything ever

this doesnt even feel like twd anymore. im fine with javier being main character and a new story and all, but something just doesnt feel right about this game in general. its probably cuz they changed writers for the 1000th time. you gotta wonder if those new writers even played/seen previous two games. and wtf is with all those forced love stories?
time to put this franchise out of its misery.

whyd they change the writers?
Have it your way, boss.
Well that's your opinion (a bad one at that). Most of the fans love it and the critics do as well. This game is really damn good and I hope they announce a 4th season (with Clem or fuck that).
Coming from someone that likes it so far, they really don't. I'm sorry but that just isn't true.
Yeah, I am loving Season 3 so much. Javier is actually a good character and we get to see Clementine being badass.
lol wut?
i dont take critics into account because we all know how they write reviews ($$$)
i agree about javier being good character but thats not enough. and clementine is not badass. shes just annoying and not herself.
Hitler discusses season 3
Clementine is exactly how I was hoping she would turn out with my past choices, always sticking with Kenny no matter what.
If you made different choices then she might not be how you wanted her to turn out because she has been scripted to turn out like this but she is exactly what I would say my choices made her: A Survivor.
How is she annoying? Everything she has done is what a survivor would do and I am glad that Lee and Kenny protected her so she could turn out like this.
Congratulations Telltale, A New Frontier has so far been the game I wanted it to be (except for Kennys death) and I am glad I bought it. I have already played through it 3 times as I am a big fan of their new direction to the series.
This series could become as good as Season 2 (my favourite telltale series ever) if they carry on like this.
watch lets plays on youtube of people who have different endings. you will notice that she acts same in all of them. theres only some minor dialogue changes every now and then.
I couldn't disagree anymore I'm loving s3
Double post
I know she acts the same but she has turned out to be the Clem I wanted her to be through my choices. I know my choices dont matter but I like to pretend I shaped her life to become as cool as she is now.
The new engine is great as well. It seems a lot more optimised than their old one and the graphics look a lot better.
Yeah so am I. Ive played through it 3 times with different choices and different season 2 endings and its amazing.
I play video games for the story they tell. I only play narrative driven games like Naughty Dog and Telltale games and I play them for the story they tell.
I couldn't care less that my choices don't matter. I am not playing the game to change the story through my choices, I am playing the game to experience the story that Telltale have written.
If I choose to save someone and then Telltale make them die anyway a few minutes later, so what? Telltale wanted that character to die for the story and I am not going to complain because my choice changed nothing because Telltale would still be making a great story.
Thankyou Telltale for making amazing narrative masterpieces.
I like making choices but I don't actually care if they change the story or not. I like it that we are in the characters shoes making choices but that doesn't mean our choices have to matter. All I care about is playing a great story which Telltale have allowed me to do again with A New Frontier.
To be fair, a bunch of the Season 1 writers left, and I don't think anyone wanted the Season 2 writers back.
Season 2 was amazing compared to this steaming pile of shit. Javier is boring and I hate he's the protagonist. Clementine doesn't seem to be herself. She's cold and seems to have a lot of hatred which isn't the Clem we took care of in s1 and played as in s2. Why she isn't the playable character is beyond me. Wow we got to play as her for 10 total minutes in 2 flashbacks and spend the rest of the time as Mr. Who gives a fuck. Thanks telltale! Can we just all agree that this season isn't cannon and release the real s3.
Speak for yourself, I think s2's writers are getting more fans now. S2 at least wasn't as rushed, to be fair I think s3 did what S2 was missing, but dropped everything good S2 had.
It has a 9/10 (over 1000 fan reviews) on Steam, 4 and a half stars on the Xbox store, 5 stars on the PlayStation store, etc.
It's literally just the fans on these forums that are bitching about the game.
The fans clearly love it.
Well actually Metacritic sorta backs up fans loving it.
Look at all of the fan reviews on the different websites that sell the game. The fans love it and you are clearly in the minority (along with others bitching and crying about the tiniest fucking flaw you decide to point out).
I may be in the minority but I loved Season 2 more than Season 1
Unfortunately, I think that's the most realistic way for her to turn out in that kind of world, especially when going through her angsty teen years.
Because it's no longer her story. I think you should try to appreciate that you got to see her at all, considering Telltale didn't have to include her. She's just there to keep old fans happy.
This is the real S3, whether you like it or not.
I prefer Season 2 as well, though mainly because it holds quite a bit of nostalgia for me. It also has some of my favorite Telltale characters.
Despite that, I think the writing in Season 1 was considerably better. That's just my personal opinion, though.
Actually, the Clem I played as in Season 2 sided with Kenny in every conversation and was actually really cold. She turned out just how I wanted her to
I disagree, I think it's very much still her story and we will see alot more of her
I like the new survivor team, but that´s it. Duration is shit, evolution time for non-family characters is shit, those flashbacks graphics were 100% pure, unadulterated, lazy bull...
I think it´s a pity, it could be WAY better than Season 2. And yet.
That's the problem. They catered to new players instead of the old. Veteran players just got pushed to the side and insulted by the horrible send offs to Kenny and Jane. You're wrong this is Clem's story. I don't have to appreciate that they included her at all. She was one of the big marketing/selling points in the game. A game without her isn't the walking dead. That's called a spinoff. That would be like me appreciating that rick is in the show. Its his story just like It's her story not this new boring ass Javier. I get that she would realistically be like that but not all of our clementines are the same. That would be like lee coming back and being a total dick even though my lee wasn't. It was a huge mistake taking the focus off of Clem and the people believe that because of all the hate.
Telltale themselves have specifically stated that this is Javier's story.
Rick is the main character, though. Clem isn't anymore. She had her time.
Besides, getting rid of the player's control over Clementine was a smart move on Telltale's part.
We've spent all this time raising her and trying to shape the type of person she'd become, and now we get to see her as her own person. It's pretty damn cool to see where this long, painful road has led her.
I AM getting tired of them trying to force an affair on the dude's brother's wife with you. I get the feeling that like so many other things in these games, his brother will insist that you've effed his wife regardless of the decisions you've made so far.
That's an understatement if I have ever seen one. This is a very disappointing sequel to say the least.
Yeah she's her own person but that's not the person I guided her to be. She's cold, angry and reclusive. This was a colossal mistake by telltale and considering all of the backlash more agree with me than the ones who don't. I've never heard once telltale say that this is Javier's story. This is clementines story. Regardless of what you think. Clementine is the Rick equivalent to the game. Telltale fucked it up by basically saying fuck you to returning players who just wanted clementine back and our season 2 choices to actually matter for more than 5 minutes. What we got instead was the most boring protagonist ever, terrible and predictable writing, the most ridiculous deaths for Kenny/Jane and a mean little girl that looks like Clementine that we got to play as for a total of 10 minutes. This game is an atrocity which is really sad considering how fantastic s1 was. They threw it all away just so they could attract new players and can't even pretend to give a shit about veteran players.
That's a pretty big exaggeration.
The fans on other forums too. The fans on social media. Even the reviews note what a stark departure it is from the series narrative. So no, its more than just a few people here. It's a solid game. It's a terrible followup.
Currently loving season 3 more than season 2. New characters are interesting.
Yes, and the situation is being compared to the show and comic suddenly saying "Ricks had his time. Here's completely new characters."
Rick is the main character to a lot of people, the stories have been a pretty personal look into his struggles as a leader and a father. Abruptly switching the focus of the series wouldn't sit well with a lot of those people. It'd be like discontinuing his story and replacing it with Fear The Walking Dead imo. Nothing wrong with having both, but replacing one with the other would be alienating.
Well damn. I never would have bought this shit pile if I knew that. It's just a damn shame how terrible this series is turning out to be. I guess that's why it's called a new frontier instead of season 3. Hopefully this is just a spinoff and we will get a real season 3 next.
I think the different feel is because we're used to slower episodes, we're two episodes in and we've already been in two shootouts and escaped a herd.Even with the change of pace i really liked it
