Javier getting the Lee treatment?
As in he doesn't make it past the final episode, and how likely is it for him to survive season 3? Is his character saga best concluded with nobly sacrificing himself for his family or Clementine or going forward into maybe season 4? What are your thoughts?

I'd prefer it if he didn't die. The lack of characters transitioning from season to season kind of hampers with my ability to form an emotional attachment and investment with the characters.
Yes I can see that. It just seems to be a popular telltale game trend that someone major has to shockingly die at the end of each Telltale season.
I've noticed that. With the Walking Dead in particular though, it might benefit the story to allow more characters to live. But alas, every person that comes into contact with Clementine will eventually die or receive the unknown status. They'll survive for years before meeting the girl, but her presence seals their fate.
I feel like the shift in focus might get him through the season. I hope they mix things up a little, and let someone besides Clementine live through the season. (Hopefully her too though. Not saying I wish death on the girl) I understand that people will die given the genre, but not everyone has to die, and killing everyone off does get old, despite many deaths being well-done. I think they might let Javier live. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens this time around.
I don't think he'll die, but knowing Telltale, he'll ride a car and it crashes into a tree - he gets paralyzed and then he dies with walkers eating his corpse.
Or kills himself when he finds out that he's pregnant.
What the fuck?
You made my day...
If he died this season would basically be a waste
So would I. Then again even if he survived, he'd die anyway in ep 1 next season, you're no fun Telltale.
That would be awesome...of all the predictable ways someone could die in TWD...you know the cliché shoot out...taking on the walkers...all that...to have the balls to kill someone via a car wreck...that takes balls. But I am sure all the fan boys who cry about clichés will be pissed that he didn't get a cliché end.
Maybe not that much if Javier gets a heroic end or if Gabe "mans himself up" ( as he seemed to basically put it in ties that bind) for lead role for season 4. Ya know with like the transition of Lee to Clem from the previous couple seasons. I am NOT a big fan of Gabe.. but if someone else had to continue from Javier and they still detest so much going back to Clementine as player character, then I can see the studio going with Gabe if he lives to the end and Javier somehow doesn't.
This, except for not going back to Clem. If Gabe can step his game up he'd be a suitable counter for Clem in the next season. I'm not really at the point where I want to see Jav die though, I'd like a group to actually make it.
I'd like a group to make it as well but Telltale games loves to kill off about 95% of it's cast at the end of each season, maybe or maybe not including the protagonist. Then regenerating brand new folks again to repeat the same tired cycle again like a wash rinse and repeat.
And do not get me wrong I am about 99% pro- Clem all the time ( other 1% would be when she tries to get me to decide in the more violent way once or twice like opening fire instead of negotiating or fleeing first). So I would not mind going back to Clementine as main playable character nor am I closed off to other protagonists but I say only when Clem's story has had satisfactory closure.. So far I am not impressed with Javier's backstory and character but he will have to do until this round is over.
Ditto post.
Then again there're at least 3 episodes to go so I'd give Javier the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe they slow down the next EPs (and will be longer), and E1 and E2 were fast paced as a means of introductory episodes.
Hope your right, I think that is the worst hurting factor about season 3 is the extremely short episodes. Each episode should be a minimum of 100 to 110 minutes. Otherwise It makes the flow of the story's events feel awkwardly compressed and sloppy. Like if the TV show only had 15 minute episodes instead of 45 minutes of run time.
I think at least one new character is surviving the season, either Javi or Gabe
Be pretty stupid to take the focus off Clem just to kill that new focus.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Javier and a few other characters survived, but didn't carry over to the next season. Like, is it really so impossible to have characters part ways without having to kill them, Telltale?
I hope he doesn't die, it would be a waste of a good character
Completely agree with you. I'm hoping they'll take a cue from the series and actually let a group develop and grow. I do feel like this is Clems story but I, in no way, have an issue with expanding the story and cast in a way that includes new characters. I actually really like Jav, and I'm not opposed to the game exploring the experiences of a core cast of characters in the way the show does. Compelling drama can be done without the shock death threat Game of Thrones presented, and TWD has given in a lesser extent. Not against killing off main characters, but it should be done sparingly and with the fan base in mind. Otherwise Tony Almeida comes back seasons later as a villain lol
I think the season 2 story might had been richer with potential if Omid and Christa lived and helped Clem get to Wellington. Just a example of how keeping folks around can add immensely to the plot. Might of been some great interaction between Luke and Omid. Ex preggers Christa and then pregnant Rebecca helping with her getting through the labor etc...
I don't think he will purely on the platform that if he did it would further expose the fact that everyone in the game except Clementine will die. I'm not holding my breath though.
If by some miracle he does survive the season, it presents an interesting issue for Season 4. Namely, on who gets to be the protagonist in that game. We haven't had one protagonist across multiple games, so it's like... What happens?
Do we stick with Javier? Do we get a new character who's story we explore? Do we jump back to an older Clementine? Do we play as Gabe assuming he survived the season?
Shouldn't really underestimate their nonsensical plot decisions at this point.LOL I know I cannot put that past them.
Not to mention Christa and Carlos/Nick.
Really hoping he doesn't die. Season 2 barely left anything for Clementine to work with as it is.
Right that's what I'm saying. If there is to ever be a season 4 that is. They might throw in the towel after New Frontier but i think I'd hope not. Or maybe I would hope so if season 3 does not improve itself.
Yeah it would be a waste.. but they've wasted great characters before in lackluster ways. Maybe this time things will be different.
I think Javier is going to sacrifice himself for Clementine or someone that is close to him, I don't think Kate nor Gabe are going to make it through to the final episode and if they kill off Clementine before episode 5 not making it super emotional everyone's going to riot.
So yes I think Javi is going to die at the end of this season or at the very least have nothing left, including his family and friends and have to start fresh all over again.
It was Kenny's death however, so it'll be unlikely they'd repeat it.
There is only ONE lee!
Well if he does indeed survive, I'd be a bit mad at telltale that they do this with a fresh character, not one we cared about since we've been with them a while (yes I still haven't dealt with Kenny's death)
Yh people would go mad if telltale killed of clem including me and probably pewdipie that guy loves clem and he cryed when they killed of Lee.or was he killed? We never sour if he was shoot.
Me too, would be stupid for none of them to make it, and illogical. It's like anyone's fate is sealed when they meet Clem. Don't think Kate will make it tho
Yeah, I think that Javier will get the Lee treatment. I would think that he would be the one to sacrifice himself for his family, which I think is the motif of this Side-Season.
I could pass that every S1 character died, i have no trouble with that because the story was very well developed and actually made you feel bad for 'em. But one of the things that i hated from S2 is that they repited the formula, instead of let some characters stay alive and travel along with Clementine.
I hope this time they don't do that, and if they make a S4, let us play with those characters as a continuation.
I wouldn't. It'll be a good change for a while. Like Kenny726 said, we don't even get the chance to develop and emotional interest in the characters because they die after 10 minutes in the game, like Conrad, for example. I found him an interesting character and they already made him determinant.
No one can be like Lee,he take care of Clementine when she was little in season 1 and he will continue do it! About Javi,he is a good character and maybe he will take care of Clementine!
I agree.
I rather he not die because he is pretty interesting this game so far, same goes for some the characters like Tripp, Eleanor, Gabe, and Kate. I doubt TellTale will pull the same cliche BS a second or so many times, as they did in season 2.
