The episode 3 rewrites...

Im starting to think that these episode 3 rewrites will just be Telltale reintroducing a character from season 1 into a New frontier to compesate for the first 2 episodes. ((Christa, Molly,Lily...)) So does anyone think they would resort to that again? Reintroducing an old character just like they did with Kenny in season 2?

  • If TT brings back an old character, it most likely will be Christa.

  • At this point, I sort of hope they just go cold turkey and not bring anyone else back (with the exception of AJ, of course). They should just work on developing the new characters that they have, and not try to dig up the past to salvage the rest of the game. It'd feel like breaking your kid's school project and trying to wrap the whole thing up in duct tape - just stick with what you've got, otherwise it'll be an even bigger mess.

I don't mind where they're going with it this season, but they've gotta get back their mojo for storytelling and character development.

While I doubt they will bring someone back, I hope they do, even if it's in flashback format. Even if it's done poorly.

Scratch that, even though it WILL be done poorly.

Im fairly sure they wont have time to develop the characters since Telltale for some reason feels the need to always kill off the entire group of a season leaving only one or 2 survivors so there s a pretty big chance that they re gonna kill some characters without any development.

  • Hopefully not, if they bring any old characters back they'll likely just end up dying.

  • If anyone returns Id hope they would pull some shitty excuse of "Kenny and Jane's deaths were only partly true this is what really happened."

Just bringing back a character like Christa is just a way of saying "Hey, sorry we are lazy as hell, but take this other character from the past as compensation. That character that isnt determinate in anyway because if they were it be way too hard for us to write!"

  • I think they keep rewriting for some kind of plot twist like in most telltale games they make something happen at like episode 1 but then realize what it really meant in episode 5 and they are probably realizing some things might not work out in a plot twist.

Who knows at this point. Given how they have acknowledged the feedback from fans and given Melissa Hutchison's feelings in regards to ANF perhaps Telltale will actually do what they should've done at the very beginning which is actually sit down and take they're time to write and craft a good story. I have to remind myself they've been working on this game for 2 years and this is what they came up with.

I just realized...if Telltale actually brings back Kenny and Jane due to fan backlash, with whatever excuse they use, then when Kenny finally dies (let's be honest, him coming back is already pretty unlikely. If he does actually come back, he's not making it out of season 3) then that would make it 3 times that he was canonically supposed to die.

  • Well if they somehow like confirmed Kenny and Jane weren't dead in ep 3, and they dont really come back till ep 5, and they decide to end their Walking Dead series, it could happen.

  • mmMmmma rotten money is on Christa mate

  • This season should stand on it's own and not force itself to piggyback on the successes of the previous seasons.

  • Seeing how Kenny, Jane, and Edith looked in the new engine, I sure hope not.

  • Loool all the characters from Season 3 look greasy! Defenetly prefer previous Season's graphics.

  • I think Telltale have a problem to make episode 3 because as ya'll can see,if you shoot Conrad,Clem will leaving and maybe we never see she's again. But if you accept Conrad plan and send Clem to A New Frontier as a bargaining chip,we still unite with Clem.If you shoot Conrad, how you going to meet Clem again after she leave?

  • I really hope not. She'd most likely end up having a meaningless death or just be there for the sake of being there.

  • I've always found that frustrating that at the end of every season they feel the need to kill all off/remove the entire group and restart anew the next season. I feel the cabin group by far was the worse case of this.

  • Exactly! I mean, we know that people are gonna die given the nature of the series, but would it really have been that difficult to keep at least one or two of them alive by the end?

  • Not only keep them alive but keep them in the story. In S1 we had around 12-13 members throughout the game and by S2 we have 1-2 people from S1 around. In ANF Clementine is the sole character from either previous games in the present.

She will be captured witin the first 10 minutes. That's just how thats going to play out.

Its determinant if she's in the compound, so the easiest option is to have her end up there, no matter what.Telltale are just not going to put in the effort to having two vastly differing stories.

Just like no matter what Conrad will be killed off before the end of the episode.

  • Yeah, that's my thought too. Though, I'd think that Conrad would get a quite a bit of screentime/development to make siding with him more profitable than just having this Clementine around.

  • Can TT just make all the characters developed instead of having one or two lines before their stupidity deaths!?

  • I agree. I don't trust the writers to not either kill off Christa or making her presence meaningless.

    Best to leave her be.

  • Job already confirmed noones coming back in episode 3... hopefully someone in episode 4 or 5

  • Whether or not an episode is good depends entirely on the writer, just look at season 2, and this new guy who seems to fancy cheap action over actuall character developement has not been able to impress me at all, if he's the same guy writing episode 3 4 and 5 this season is doomed.

  • I don't see why people think she'd get a crappy death, because either way if you try to save her, or try to run, she could've survived either way. Because TT would usually just kill a character if they die in one choice, to make it easier to write the story. Like they did with Kenny, it's possible for him to die in season 2, so they just say "Lets kill Kenny! To make it easier for US!"

  • After he ate up most of the screentime, focus, and development that could've gone to characters that hadn't already been really major characters in an award winning game. Still, Christa went missing in a non-determinate scene and was originally intended to have [possibly] gotten away anyway, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem in they wanted to bring her back.

  • A few points here folks. 1: Do you want to experience a story? 2:The words @the begining of TTG games. 3: Why be so bitter and blunt over things we supposedly like?

  • 1: I want to experience a good story that is well written and thoroughly thought out.

3: just because you like something doesn't mean EVERYTHING about it is sunshine and peaches. I'm not going to call a pound of dogshit chocolate cake.

  • If Kenny gets to come back for a whole season, Christa should at least get one episode.

  • To be fair, showers are probably a rarity in the zombie apocalypse lol I bet everybody is pretty greasy.

  • Honestly, I'm guessing the rewrites might have more to do with our decisions and interaction data from in game. They already consider the opinions here to be in the minority, and seeing how they've gone out of their way to sever almost every tie to previous seasons as quickly as possible, I can't see any old characters returning. Davids "shocking" reveal will probably be it as far as surprise characters go.

  • XD
