For me i think it would have to be the final scenes in season 1.
Clementine had just seen her parents as walkers, dragged Lee into the jewellery store and then had to choose whether or not to shoot the person who she was most closest to (besides her parents). While she was there she had to kill her first walker and not long before that kill her first person (determinedly) which is a lot to got through in such a short amount of time for a child her age.
I think it's that one time she lost her hat and was incredibly upset & then very happy when she got it back.
Because these days she acts so tough all the time, she has her 'silent loner' thing going on, yet she still cherishes those memories like nothing else and never ever wants to forget them. She cares about and misses her people, no matter how long they've been gone. It's so incredibly human in a world that isn't.
Honestly, it was absolutely amazing- yet, it sort of didn't feel right?
I was just very, very angry in that scene. They just took the only family she had for absolutely no fucking reason whatsoever, and then she's saying to never lose her light? I would be a fucking wreck at that point, imagine how heartwrenching it must be; the idea of AJ growing up without even knowing who his mother is or what she was like. I definitely loved the scene, I just don't think that was the right time for it.
I complied with her, you know, I said 'I promise', because I appreciated what she did, but I think that in real life, as a human being with emotions, I would've just been so fucking angry. thanks for listening to my rant x
I don't know if this is a defining moment but it's what always sticks with me ever since it happened. Ava making Clem promise to never lose that light. I loved that.
When she cut her hair, I felt it was her first step to adjusting to the apocalypse, and how she couldn't be a little girl anymore.
Season… more 2 episode 1, she's just gotten out of the river to escape the bandits, she's cold, she has nowhere to go, but she keeps moving forward, even though she's only an 11 year old girl, she transcends her age, but for a moment showing true perservereance in this fucked up world.
Getting separated from Christa. Clem always had someone looking after her until then. The lessons her caretakers taught her were put to the test in season 2. She had no one to guide her decisions. No one was there to tell her whether saving Sarah or letting Jane die were the right decisions. I think the convo with Bonnie near the end about looking out for yourself brought it home.
Comments
Your gonna start a riot.
Which is why I approve of this comment.
Likely because Christa's negativity reflected on her.

I also thought her cutting her hair was incredibly significant- it sort of suddenly made everything very real
Understandably.
That's a good point.
