I, for one, am enjoying The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
Am I going to be stoned to death for expressing my opinion? I don't really see what's so wrong with ANF. I love playing as Javi and I think Clementine has developed far more than people give her credit for. The cast isn't all bad either. I really like the whole family dynamic, especially between Javi and David. Although I wish the pacing could be slowed down a bit, I think the story is very interesting and I like the direction they are going with. Now unless they completely butcher the final episode, this season is solid for me. I am not very fussy about little issues that people seem to complain about. Sorry. This isn't much of a discussion, but are there any non-haters here? I feel like I'm the only one

The choices in ANF matter more than the previous seasons assuming:
Either Tripp/Ava lives
Conrad Lives
Either Kate/David lives (one or other, not necessarily both)
Then it will actually be the best twdg in terms of character choice. Heck, I'd argue it already is considering how drastic your relationship between you and David/Kate can be depending on your approach of the relationship.
It's not flawless. it needs more length (for character development), hubs, and the death of Gabentine for it to be considered good by a lot of people. (also retcon Kenny's death)
But I enjoyed playing as Javier. The first 2 episodes were dull aside from the Mariana/David twists, but after 3-4 it got pretty tense. it's a shame its so short, though. Feels like an episode 3 rather than a finale.
But I think we can all agree Javier Garcia is smokin' hot and that makes up for a lot of it
Congratulations
Good to see some support around here. I agree! The pacing could have been better but it's still passable in my opinion!
Thanks
I do think it deserves the flack, though. 25 bucks for 6 hours of minimally interactive game play is insulting.
All it does is make Javier look bad even more for lack of character development. He already has to 'compete' with Clem, someone who has two normal sized seasons.
I'm prayin' for bonus episodes 6-8 starring Javi or at least having him a major side character.
I like Javier being the pc. It's a good switch up harking back to season 1 when u are seeing Clementine from someone else's point of view. Only now you see who she has become after mentoring her as Lee then making tough calls as her that shaped her personality. I think David and Kate are solid supporting characters and I at least find them likable. Telltale could have put more effort into the New Frontier characters and I do miss the exploratory aspect of the first two seasons. So it isn't a dud but I can see the issues ppl have with it. Season 2 was less cohesive but it was somehow easier to get invested in the outcomes and I liked that there were lulls. ANF is like %90 action.
They could have made his flashbacks longer along no with Clem's. That right the could have easily added another hour of gameplay!
Maybe, but it's the main story that needs more time. The stakes just aren't there.
Or rather, the characters are so underdeveloped we don't care for the stakes.
Then I feel sorry for you.
I really like ANF as well. Although the writing isn't as good as previous seasons, the choices are much more impactful. Also, episode 4 was brilliant.
You're not the only non-hater.
You'd be surprised how many people actually like ANF or have no negative opinions at all.
The only reason why they don't stand out is because a lot of the forum users are bashing on ANF with a great passion on all TWD related forums and the non-haters don't bother to make threads about how ANF is actually good like the haters do about how ANF is the worst game of the millenia. Forum users does not mean the entire community.
Most of the people don't even think about this game too intensly, it is what it is and it's too late to change it.
the silent majority, the loud minority
What about the steam users downvoting the game to the extent its passed even the "terrible" season 2s negative reviews? Not mentioning the continued lower ratings each episode has had since the initial debut, because Christmas money ran out or whatever. The silent majority all seem to reside in a fictional location.
My head hurts.

Are you making this thread just so your opinion on ANF feels validated? Because that's what it looks like to me.
learn to read and you'll get your answer
And 90% of the people that dislike/hate ANF do the exact same thing, so what's your point
C'mon man don't be that guy.
I love The New Frontier more than anything, but it's just outright false to claim the silent majority view the game positively.
The majority of reviews by critics and consumers are negative. And that strongly impacted sales.
Haters is one thing but legitimate flaws are another.
I say this as someone who enjoyed the season thus far.
That's honestly a two way street.
K
I see more "I LIKE ANF!!" threads than the ones that are "I HATE ANF BCUZ ITS KOOL"

You must be new around here. Or confused. Maybe both :P
Megami has been here much longer than you have.
K
of relief?
Whatever answer you want.
There is not a single defense you could dredge up that will convince me you're not guilty of the exact same thing you're trying to criticize here
You know why you made these comments? Because you feel validated in them to begin with
And you know why you do?
"Because ANF is an objectively terrible g-- nope, you just shut the hell up right there
It's because you know the grand majority of the active user base on here (and other third-party communities/groups/etc as well) share this viewpoint, and will pat you on the back for sticking up and calling out the naysayers for not liking this 'absolutely appalling game' or what have you, because that's totally and utterly objective, and not at all a case of confirmation bias or something ridiculous like that. Fuck all that mob mentality and groupthink crap, right? Yeah, you can just go and cherry pick all the negative stuff and cite it as evidence to support your claims while you write off anything that has so much as a pinch of positivity to it as being uninformed tripe, not worth the time or intellectual windfall to argue against... you know, like anyone that realizes that their arguments are built on logical fallacies and cyclic logic, so you just resort to ad hominem and strawman attacks instead, because god help you if you're wrong about something, right
Consciously or subconsciously, the only reason you felt compelled to reply to this post to begin with is because you know there's a group of other people that will validate your feelings on the subject, because some part of you can't handle the prospect of being told otherwise-- someone having the nerve to call you the asshole for barging in and spewing incendiary and needlessly condescending horseshit? Why, that would be such an injustice, wouldn't it?
Welp, like it or not, that's exactly what I'm gonna do-- you're being an asshole. You came into this thread and left a condescending and accusatory responses, because you're surrounded by other people from all the echo-chambers you regularly visit that will support your line of thinking, which creates a feedback loop that further empowers you to be even more of an asshole in the future, because you feel like you have the intellectual high ground on this subject, or whatever other crap you tell yourself to rationalize your actions
And if you can't be bothered reading all that (which I sure as hell know is a possibility), here's the shortest version I can think of: go get yourself some introspective
Yeah I liked it too but it's no use saying this here cause others who think this is the worst game of the century will jump at you to tell you that you are wrong, sadly.
ANF stole my girlfriend and ate my homework
Haha, something like that
Your speaking for yourself that's a good idea.....I will admit the only thing New Frontier has better than the first two games is the graphics.
Don't worry mate, you are not alone here.
You're definitely not alone! I love this game!
You're not alone my man. I, for one, really like Season 3 too.
Yeah man, TWD ANF is definitely not a bad game, and they've definitely improved upon making the player feel as if choices matter and making determinant characters more dynamic. I really feel that a lot of the hate comes from Telltale dropping the ball on episodes 1 and 2, in regards to how they attempted to tie up loose ends from season 2 mostly. The way Kenny and Jane died was a slap in the face for most players, and they both looked hideous probably due to rushing out their character models. It left a bad taste in my mouth, but I would say that the game as a whole improved a lot with Episodes 3 and 4 without a doubt.
The biggest problem is that it seems Telltale has forgotten some key aspects that made Season 1 so successful. There's not enough exploration and hub worlds! One of my favorite aspects of TWD season 1 was how you could have so many different conversations with all the characters, allowing you to feel more immersed into the game. The pacing was just so fast in ANF that it personally just wasn't enough time for me to get more emotionally invested with totally brand new characters. The new cast and their relationships with each other are good and interesting, but it just feels underdeveloped for me.
However, from a broad view the game is good. The story is compelling for the most part and the action is amazing! It's just moving too fast!! Another person said it best when they said it feels like we're on episode 3 when we're on the finale..
I liked a lot of things in this season a lot like choices mattering a bit like Conrad and ava/tripp which are my fav charecters this season but I'll never forgive telltale for this awful treatment they did to our season 2 choices...to Kenny and Jane and to their false advertising bullshit that turns to middle fingering the fans everytime they hype her up...also fuck those 60 min ep dawg I didn't pay ya'll 25 fucking bucks for this shit
If you're going to be stoned to death, much like Dr Lingard I won't have a hand in it.
I honestly think that the majority of people wanted to like ANF, and quite a few still do want to like it. TellTale experimented with this season after the reception of the first Episode(s), and I can appreciate and acknowledge their attempts to resolve the issues that were pointed out vehemently by a lot of people. They made it a little less like a QTE movie, and threw in some areas to explore - not as big or as often as the fans might have had in mind - but the effort is there. They've designed the ultimate in determinant characters, and the fanbase is excited about that aspect. I don't think a single person on the forums is hoping they go back to the old formula of disposable determinant characters. I'd love to see TellTale switch it up, and throw out a couple of determinants where there can be some benefits and serious consequences for keeping someone alive too.
Thumbing through a lot of the posts on the fan feedback, a common complaint issued was with the length of each episode. That actually says a lot for the season overall - people were interested, they just didn't feel invested enough. I wanted more time between the actions with the characters, and I hope the creative staff at TellTale can filter through the negative criticism in a positive way. This season might not be great in my eyes, but it had/has potential.
As bad as I think ANF is, abysmal even on many accounts. I have to wonder why people continue to not want to hear what makes the game click for others, the only way to garner knowledge and even appreciation about anything is to open up and diligently listen to people who are on the opposition of any opinion.
Maybe being apart of a toxic community for long enough would simply smother out that response, but God how boring it would be to repeat the same opinions over and over and never get any level of opposition to make discussion grow.
