Just the "Let me get my camera" joke left me in stitches.

    Oh, and "Nice altar..."

No, wait... the funniest one would be:

    Guybrush: Look! A distraction!
    Trenchfoot: Where?!
    Hardtack: What's it distractin'?

    And, while accidental:
Guybrush: Tell that woman behind you to button up her blouse!
    Hardtack: Where?!
Guybrush: Oh, you missed it. It was glorious.

i certainly laughed the longest when guybrush whistled the largo theme and followed it up with "why do i have THAT stuck in my head?" or whatever

i actually couldn't play for about 5 minutes i just kept laughing.

it was just so out of nowhere

Hm, I can't really remember that bit, but wasn't that actually the Woodtick carpenter's music?

Nope, I'm pretty sure it was the Largo LaGrande theme! ;)

    This is the Woodtick theme you speak of;

    My favorite line:
    MAAAANAAATEEEEEE!

The conversation between Guybrush and Winslow when Winslow misheard "Isle of Ewe" was pretty good, too. As was every single thing LeChuck said. :D

when you ge through all the lines when Elaine is trying to persuade you:
Elaine will say: "i'll make it worth while..."

bit out of character, but sexy!

lechuck is funny in his not-evil form...little helpless, or is that what he wants you to believe?...hmm something to think about!

What did the nuclear reactor write when it took a break?
    Went fission.

    -"Haha, that's a funny one".

I have *ahem* one little addition:

Guybrush: "I couldn't tell the men from the women."
Winslow: "Exactly! Haha! I learned the hard way."

"Squawwk! It's me, Guybrush Threepwood!" Probably the series most memorable quote overall so far.

    AND the most frequently repeated

I vaguely remember someone in the sam and max season two commentary saying animating a character giving something to another was a real pain in the butt.
So i'm guessing they got lazy and decided to make fun of it ;)

absolutely spectacular! that's what I love about computer games :)

and sorry for the two-quotes-in-a-row, reading through the thread backwards now

That moment when Guybrush looks at the Turtle Altar after it has fallen down the cliff and says:

"Wow, that turtle really made an 'impression' on this stone"
    followed by:
"Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week"
    That cracked me up.

Guybrush: I'm not hugging the mast.
Winslow: You must learn to love your mast as if it's your second wife!
Guybrush: I don't think my wife would be into that.
    Winslow: Ever ask her?

...that and the Ethel Merman joke made me laugh so loud that I almost woke up the kids.

    "Big rock!"

    and

"No, just kidding. It's just a bucket."

I swear, Dominic Armato can describe any sort of dead, pointless object and make it hilarious.

oh, sorry. MAY I have a cookie?
No, you may not have a cookie.

    No.

This episode won me over with the wonderful one-liners. I was always "meh" about MI, with Narwhal being the only one I enjoyed enough to play through...

But the very second I finished Spinner Cay, I got myself a copy of SOMI:SE, and I'm loving it. I've really been missing out. I guess I was "doing it wrong" the first time, in that I was looking for a different style of humor, and so I wasn't appreciating how hilarious the sometimes subtle, sometimes excessively blatant jokes were.

That exchange as well as "Donkey Island" made that last little conversation with the Merfolk leader one of my favorite dialog bits in the game. It was very Guybrush, when presented with someone offering to give him anything he seeks, to only say "Help me with this artifact" "Can I have a cookie?" and "What is the secret of Monkey Island?"

    Something like:

    "Can I have this bucket?"
-"Sure, what are you going to use it for?"
    "I dunno"
-"Then why do you want it?"
    "Err.. because it's.. there?"

Bastard Telltale people making fun of us clueless adventure gamers :D

    "We found a rock"
-"No, we found a petrified potato!"
"What possible use could a petrified potato have?"
    -"I'm keeping it"
(I can hear Guybrush thinking "Give it to me!")

Remember taking bucket in LCR? : )
  • edited August 2009
Not exactly a quote, but I liked how they changed LeChuck's theme to be less... scary?
The cookie line was definitely my favorite. It was absolutely adorable.

Did anyone else notice the red herring the seagull plucked with him from the bucket at the beginning?
    Subtle SoMI reference? :P

Aha! :) Actually I don't remember that because it was so long ago that I played it, but very nice if that was a reference to it.

    Well
there you have Men of Low Moral Fiber sleeping near the bucket. When you try to take it, one wakes up and asks you to leave it. You have option to persuade him (pretty, pretty please with lots of things) or just ask him is it his bucket - and he tells you it isn't and you can take it.
And it's much harder to find the bucket : )

I suck at remembering direct quotes, but the one that made me laugh out loud was when Elaine tells Guybrush not to call her snugglepuss (?) in public, to which he replies "Oh okay... snugglepuss". Voice acting from Dominic on that was great.

    I think it was "Laineypoo"

    that's the mast!
"i KNOW, you already said that"

"If no one saw it, it didn't happen".

    Was something like that. :D

In the end, when Guybrush is
    fighting Captain McGillicutty
, one of his lines is something simple like "You're dumb!" - i dont remember correctly. But the spoken line is awesome - something like:

My assestment of your apperance and your intelligence is that you are inadequete in both of those areas!

It was possibly longer - i wish i could remember.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned.....havent read it yet

When Guybrush is giving the coupon to the mermaid for the raft he says something like

    "good for 24 hours"

The mermaid gives a seductive chuckle and responds

    "I bet you are"

This definitely had some sexual innuendos going on

Well, to contradict the review I wrote for Mixnmojo, I do think (now) that there's loads of great lines.

    Here's some people haven't mentioned:

    "Oo, look at those legs."

"I think I'm going to run off now - ohh, no offence."

The sturgeon line...can't remember it word for word, but "I might need some stitches now from a...sturgeon." "...I hate you now."

"What happened to your hand?" "What hand?" "Exactly!...And where is your WEDDING RING?"

"Here's my coupon. Good for 24 hours." "Ohh, I'll bet you are, darling."

    "Isle of Ewe, Mr. Winslow!"

I think almost anything that came out of McGillicutty's mouth was hilarious. His crew were pretty damn quotable as well. The "Oh goody" lip sync the thin one does is awesome.

"Bon Voyage!" broke me up when Guybrush *finally* got the parrot into the treasure chest. Maybe because I had such a very hard time making it happen, spent hours distracting the 2 pirates, but nothing worked until I added another dialogue line to the mix!
