Staying Away From Richmond (S4/DLC)

Does anyone else not want Clementine to return to Richmond if she finds AJ? Mainly because of all the shit that went down there. Not to mention Javi and his family aren't the best characters in TWDG and almost all of them are determinant. It's more logical if she decides to go on her own again with AJ. It suits her character more too. As to why:

  • Winter: Joan and David both said Richmond barely survived winter that led to many of their people dead. Who's to say it won't happen again? Not to mention if Joan could barely save Richmond, someone who had probably years of leadership, how would Javi?

  • It's Not Safe: In case anyone hasn't realized it, no community is safe in TWD. Wellington, Howe's, Crawford, The Prison, Woodbury, all have fallen in TWD. Richmond was nearly gone as well. All because of a sickness, attack, or herd. What if another group decides to attack Richmond like what happened with Wellington? They're screwed!

  • Wellington Ending: If you got the Wellington ending, wouldn't it make sense for Clem to stay away from settlements for a while? Her and AJ nearly got killed and all her friends there got killed.

  • She's Better Off On Her Own: The Alone ending goes extremely well with this. Clem has shown that she's capable of taking care of AJ by herself for a long time. Even through winters that nearly took down Richmond, Clem survived that by herself while taking care of AJ.

  • García's Are Boring: The García's are already boring, imo. Javier is cool, but he's generic. Kate gets annoying after a while, Gabe is a mess now, and David is still an asshole to me. Personally, I'd only like to see Javier next season and not the rest of the family.

  • Opens More Possibilities: As it says: if Clem were to walk off into the sunset with AJ, it'll open up more possibilities in the future for another season. Telltale doesn't have to worry about killing determinants in the first episode (David, Kate, and Gabe) and if they want, follow one whole, simple storyline: survival. No family story, no more romance stories, no more cringy, forced relationships, just have it be about Clem trying to keep her and AJ alive. MAYBE have her run into a new face or two and possibly gain another friend her age (no forced romance. If anything have it be determinant).

Who else agrees?

I don't get how Jesus was able to nominate Javi as leader. It was out of the blue. I'm guessing Richmond is going to magically forget about how they hated Javi and family. I don't think it was ever clear that she said she would stay at Richmond after she returns but just visit it which is probably going to happen.

  • I forgot to add that too.

That would work if Telltale didn't push realism into the background when writing their stories. Seriously, realism really took a hit in ANF, way more than it has in other seasons.

MAYBE have her run into a new face or two

Telltale's The Walking Dead only works because of the people that Clementine is surviving with. If you cut interactions out of their games you're essentially gutting the whole experience.

Maybe you're right. I'm just tired of her meeting a new group but they all die in the end. It's been rinse and repeat since Season One.

  • I think it's best Clementine doesn't return to Richmond at all and just allow the Garcia's story to end and Richmond's as well.

  • I want to see Gabe and/or Kate's head turned to mush by Lucille.
    Make it happen TTG.

  • Me too but the writers said in their AMA they will be back next season.

telltale is surely gonna play it safe for the next season and not give Richmond/Garcias a huge spotlight, they'll probably add a cheeky Javi/Richmond appearance at the end.

  • Yeah, but another spoiler, also the hilltop was rebuilt. But Alpha dies

  • She is not better on her own.
She and AJ barely survived on their own in the woods.
It is obvious Clem was looking for a settlement in the previous episodes.

  • Do you really believe we played a whole Season with Javier for no reason?
The other Garcia's will die. Sure.
But I don't think Javi's story is finished after the latest Ama's.

  • My guess is they'll avoid Richmond altogether since they're not going to want to deal with all of those different choices everyone made.

Even if he comes back he'll die or his character will be wasted. Plus there's no reason for Javier to come back in Clementines story. After all the staff did state this is something Clementine have to do alone in the recent AMA. Considering how much this season was rewritten and and revised it really doesn't mean much that we played as Javier at all.

The staff said the story of Richmond isn't over yet.
    So we'll see.
The staff stated getting AJ should be done by a playable Clementine. Not without Javi in her life.
There is a hint in the game she will return to Richmond.
She asked Javi to teach AJ baseball and Javi can advice her to bring back AJ to Richmond or leave him be when he is happy. Wether you like this or not, he is still important in her life.

  • And we are not done yet this season.
I think there will be new dlc, probably some more added episodes.
Because the story of Javier and Richmond isn't over yet. Joan/Clint is still around somewhere.
And finding AJ storyline belongs to season 3 as well.

I think season 4 will be a new project likely 3 years later. In season 4 we probably will have a very different cast and storyline.

Telltale won't be stupid to make us wait 3 years to continue the story in the same timeframe to find AJ.
There will be a time skip again of 2 or 3 years.
