    I think if Clem had to choose between being branded and AJ starving to death, she'd choose the brand in a heartbeat.

    That's the point. The fact that AJ coughs once or twice in that flashback was basically a reminder of what will motivate her.

    Would that be true for even the most survival oriented Clementine? At this point yes since all Clementines seem to merge in ANF.
