Great, when my anticipaion was dying out, certain someone had to say that something special is happening on sat urday i.e 19th sept, grrrrrrrrrrrrr, hope its the what happens video..... and the release for ep3
I know I said we ought to not expect ep3 until October if we didn't hear anything today, but if my 10-day thing holds true, they can keep us hanging for a September release until Sept 20th, when they'll surely have to announce 30th or October.
any date is fine with me,just need to be informed when they coming out with the game
On that note, a subversive thought to let this thread explode (open at own risk):
Wouldn't it be a good idea for TTG to not announce the episode at all? No more server chaos to be expected upon release, because there aren't 1000 people loitering on the site and in the forums at the same time? What if episode 3 is released TOMORROW and no one knows it yet?!?
This idea feeds conspiracy theorists, of course. Sorry about that.

I agree, TTG should not announce it at all, and just let it happen...so we would be like wtf, are people talking about ep 3 isn't...oh wow it is cool.

I've read in another thread today and in the comments in the blog pages that after the "surprise" this Saturday on Pirate Day (which isn't the game release), that the chapter 3 will be released a couple of days after. So my estimate is sometime during the week 21st to 27th September.
I doubt they would delay it until October because that is when episode 4 is supposed to come out and so far in my experience buying Telltale games, they've have always hit their planned monthly release times (i.e. they've never said a game will come out in September and then had to delay it until October).
The news on the chapter 3 date is coming very soon. The team's working away on this now. While this won't be the Talk Like a Pirate Day "something" that Dave mentioned in the blog, we expect that the game will release fairly soon after that day.
And the next I Wonder What Happens video will get posted this week, before Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Rock on! thank you Pale Man and The Commissioner, Nice to know. Telltale can throw stuff out without much word, and that they hit their monthly markers consistently. I think that'll cool my jets a little, I don't really have any interest in their other titles so I've been playing old games lately. recently since I heard about tales "early last month" all I've had is Monkey, monkey, Monkey on my brain. I started with MI 1 and MI 2, with the family's very first computer in 1991. I must say that it was a big year for me, Since then it's been burned into my brain and persona. I am SO glad to see it back, I think I owe all my out-of-the-box thinking to Monkey Island. I can expect it 15 days or less? awesome!
Why is there a countdown to international pirate day then? Does it really matter all that much?
They should just release the episode. This is another example of not enough information and being left in the dark. Gah, this is why I hate episodic games. All the waiting is fine, but the misleading posts and lack of information is hell.
Actually, we've been quite clear on our intentions for the timer. We, as an office, are having a great time preparing to celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day, and have some goodies planned for that day in particular. It's a big deal for us!
As it has been said, we will not be releasing the episode that day. Though we are hard at work in that area, it will not be ready by that Saturday, though the timing would have been perfect! We are still aiming for a September release, and we have people coming in on weekends to make sure we get Ep 3 done ASAP.
This epidsodic gamething is bullshit in my opinion, especaly it's a full game that has been devided into parts like this one. Why couldn't TellTales make the whole freaking game finnished before they released it and if they insist haveing the game devided into episodes, they could have exacte dates for releasing it, instead of making us customers frustrated between episodes... Also the risk of missing a releasedate would be elimenated....

It depends on how you want to look at it. You can take your view and complain that they should have made it all and then released it (part at a time, or all in one download).
OR, you could take the other view and realise that if they did take that view then we wouldn't have played the first two episodes already. Instead of enjoying the game, we'd still be twiddling our thumbs wondering if/when anyone would ever release another Monkey Island. And then, some time in early 2010, we'd probably get notice that the game is available to all.
So sure, it could have been done as you say. But there is something to be said for releasing products as and when they are finished, for the joy and interest of the general public.

I don't think anyone would do that as they would have kept on living their life as normal. I for instance, didn't know of the game until episode 1 was already released..

I think the new style of games releases Telltale does has positive points. I've played the other series such as Sam and Max and Strong Bad and Wallace and Gromit.
1. It's nice to have something new to play every month. Buying the season pass and then getting an email every month with a new game to play that lasts about 4-5 hours is quite fun, if you're looking at casual gaming and not some 20 hour binge.
2. You get some interaction with the development team, as the games are being produced - they've had things like suggestions from forum members appear in the games and even their names in the end credits. You also get to influence things like the direction they go with making improvements - because of the feedback here at the forum they rereleased the episode 2 chapter for Tales with better audio for example.
3. I like the way they sell the games - looking at the My Games page it feels like you own the games that you've downloaded - more than with other online game distributors like Steam. The people who buy all the episodes in a series are automatically entitled to get the DVD hard copy for free. Other games companies like Electronic Arts would make you pay separately for download versions and hard copies.
4. I love the freebies I've got - just for pre-ordering I get things like the exclusive slip case art, I got a free episode coupon (which I used for Bone) the treasure hunting has given me some other discount coupons, When I ordered Wallace and Gromit I got Sam and Max episode 201 free, they've released Sam and Max episode 104 for free for anyone to have, etc.
Last night, I bought the Point-n-Click-em-up 3-in-1 (Sam & Max 1&2 and Strong Bad) and Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, all for $107.23! I'd pay £66.96 for just two great games here in GB. Many thanks TT for that Treasure Hunting coupon!
Episodic games are better. Look at how many people complained at Guybrush's dialog options in the first game!
And then they fixed it!
Episodic means that the finished product will be better than if it was done at once, as fans get some input.
I totaly agree with you it's like play testing, they read our complaints, and make the next game off what we say. The epsodic adventures work, but thats me though.
I think any person who would whine and moan and cry and wet their pants because a game is delayed by ONE or two days is spoiled. After all the griping on this forum, be happy I'm not the head of Telltale games. I'd make sure that Lair came out on September 29th.....

2.From the 1st 2 episodes yes... that's a fact they are easy as hell.
I disagree.
I disagree again. It happens often.

Maybe...it's...
I'd better not say, in case they change their plans because I've spoilt the surprise.
See, all you people moaning about TT... look how dedicated they are.
Now... patience please people!
it tastes salty now......
*sorry, it had to be said*
You're not a Telltale member.
Just cos you use the TTG texas hold em poker thing doesn't make you a TT staff member.
Look, I can do it too.
Idiot

Yeah, I want it to be a suprise...cause it might be awesome.

29th of September
The first chapter was a day after my birthday.
And then they fixed it!
