Anyone else wish that after Season 4, Telltale goes back to the characters from 400 Days?

I've been reminiscing through the sections of 400 Days and there's tons of potential with these characters. I'd be cool if once Clementine's story was over, Telltale could work on a whole Season of five episodes of content expanding on them. For those who already played 400 Days and as a premiere episode, they could explore how all of the characters ended up getting to the camp after the decisions you made in 400 Days, and then at Howe's with Tavia before transitioning to after Clementine's group escaped and the herd was arriving, where the main story would start. They would also explore what happened to the character(s) that potentially stayed behind at the camp - maybe having them reunite somewhere later on with the one(s) who went to Howe's or having the Howe's escapees (the one(s) who went and possibly Tavia) making their way back to the camp, and then moving on from there.

For new players of this Walking Dead Series or for those who had everyone go with Tavia, it would start by having all of the 400 Days characters stationed at Howe's as default and then establishing them a little bit with brief interactions and stuff, while Clem's group was working on their escape plan in the background, before it got overrun and they either helped defend it for the time being or had to make an escape together in a vehicle or on foot or something. It didn't look like many supplies inside were left in the Jane ending of Season 2 where Howe's has been abandoned, so Telltale would have to figure out when and how they made their escape, or if they stuck around for the Walkers to pass by. There weren't many Walker corpses on the ground in that ending either, so they weren't killing them all and defending the place entirely before they left.

Season 2 was too focused on Clementine and her group to really give any spotlight to the 400 Days characters besides brief cameos and the fact that they are all seemingly alive (besides Bonnie) could really make for an interesting story - like maybe how Wyatt could reunite with Eddie or Nate could reunite with Russell (or confront Wyatt and Eddie about what they were trying to escape from him for). It wouldn't be like 400 Days with separate stories for each of the characters but for a whole Season since that would be way too complicated, so they would all be in a group, at least at the start. Everything else would be up for Telltale to write, which could end up be a really interesting ride with all of these semi-established, interesting characters already.

They pretty much ruined that chance by how they treated them in S2.

  • Not necessarily. Telltale could potentially make it simple to get them all reunited for those who transfer over their 400 Days save. Howe's is abandoned, as seen in Jane's Season 2 ending, so once whoever came there end up leaving somehow, they would return back to the camp with those who stayed and reunite with them - tell them how shit hit the fan and stuff with Tavia and Carver.

As for those who are new players of this series or for everyone who went with Tavia, all the 400 Days characters are there and the main story starts off from there. There's just so much potential with all these characters for it to just go to waste. I'd recommend you read my whole post and tell me what you think.

  • So, basically, you're asking for a "1200 days DLC" which will takes in count what happened in "400 days DLC" + the events from s2, right ? :p

  • Not really that - I'd love a full Season of 5 episodes expanding on them, or even 3 if Telltale could write something interesting in something shorter. The series would start at Howe's with any of the characters that came with Tavia, and the main story would then begin with them abandoning Howe's due to the huge herd and continue on from there. To tie it back in with characters that stayed behind, they would go back to the camp at some point and convince them to come along with them or something. I detailed it better in my post - I wonder what you think of it, or if you think Telltale should get back to them. I feel like there's some good potential for a pretty cool story with these characters, especially with Nate as a possible villain maybe.

    I sincerely doubt it, man.

The iron has long grown cold and most of these characters are either dead or scattered by this point. Even then, one of the reasons introducing the Cabin Group or Javier and the Garcias as temporary main characters was such a mixed bag was because it's so late in the game timeline-wise that you're required to resort to exposition dumps or flashbacks in order to establish and/or flesh out the characters. These characters were more or less living off the good will of Season 1 and the hype for Season 2, a shine that has definitely lost it's luster outside of naive newcomers.

And the fact of the matter is some of these characters were really just there for the experience and didn't have much going on with them despite how some people might feel about them--Wyatt in particular is guilty of that. And those who did have depth and/or novelty are kind of an uncertain for the reason I stated before. Bonnie has already been used and has fallen into the determinant category, Tavia was apparently gonna do the same originally and still didn't have much established about her anyway despite that being a hook, who knows what they're gonna do with Russell beyond digging up Nate for the sake of it, and Becca especially is way past obsolete.

Their creators are most likely long gone as well, so unless they left character documents behind that gives a lot of information as to how they should be used or someone on the staff really likes them and is dedicated enough to do something with them despite the reception of the other games, you might as well forget it.

  • I wish we could at least find their corpses or any sort of clue as to what happened to them. There is sort of a clue in Jane's episode 4 flashback where someone painted "What happens now?" on a billboard.

But even if we never return to the 400 Days protagonists and the supporting characters like Mate and Eddie, I would still love to see more short stories set within the Walking Dead.

  • Well it is unexplained what happened too them in howes but it would be a hard game to make since I think it’s possible for only one if them to come. They would probably just meet up again anyway but yeah it’s s good idea but I think it would be better as a mini- series.
