If anything they need to devolve back to what made S1 so good and go from there, meaning more expansive efforts in: player controlled hub areas, environmental puzzles, moral decisions, consequences to player choice, cinematic framing, and obviously great story and characters.
Never did I yearn for standardised 3rd person combat in this series. This is not how the franchise needs to evolve.
So I wasnt able to see really any of this the other day, does anyone have a link to all the details? Or a brief breakdown of the important stuff? (already watched the gameplay)
I still really like how Clementine in this season looks more like her season 2 version. I still like ANF's version of her design a lot, but there's something very interesting about this iteration of her.

I noticed they mentioned during the interview they said this game takes place "Post-Time-Skip in the Comics." It was mentioned at one point that there would eventually be a time-skip in the comics. They're saying that this game takes place after that time-skip. So it's been longer since A New Frontier ended than what, I think, a lot of people expected.
Yes. This game will likely take place around the same time the comics currently are. The timeskip ended at issue 127 in the comics and now they are at issue 180. During that time probably six to nine months have elapsed in universe (potentially up to a year). So this game will take place about a year and a half to two years after ANF did. ANF took place in the middle of the timeskip.

It loses the cinematic framing element that this series has used so well from it's beginning and also points toward combat being given more focus which is not what I want at all.
What are your reasons for wanting an OTS camera?
@eRock92 You're asking for things a 60 second pre-release demo cannot showcase.
Nowhere in my post did I ask for all of that to be present in the short snippets they showed. Please don't put words in mouth.

Idk. It was ok but I feel like with an over the shoulder camera you can feel more “in control” of the character which makes it feel more like a game and less like a “playable movie” which these games have been called for years.
points toward combat being given more focus
Just because they’re improving a rather flawed aspect of their games doesn’t mean the game is gonna have more focus on it.
What are your reasons for wanting an OTS camera?
Because I want to be able to explore all of the new detailed environments and find gameplay interactions in hubs with a camera that doesn’t control what I can and can’t look at. Basically it gives the player more freedom in hubs.

@eRock92 Gotta wait for the full game, my friend.
Telltale put this material out for people to watch and judge and so I will have an opinion on it.
You can keep quiet on the game until August 14th if you want though.

makes it feel more like a game and less like a “playable movie”
I'm fine with it being more of a playable movie - that's what I've loved about the series since the very beginning, the fact that it used the interactivity of gaming but not at the expense of it's filmic elements such as as storytelling, pacing, and framing. It was a great blend.
I simply don't need this type of 3rd person combat in Telltale's TWD.
Just because they’re improving a rather flawed aspect of their games doesn’t mean the game is gonna have more focus on it.
True, that was an assumption on my part.
Because I want to be able to explore all of the new detailed environments and find gameplay interactions
Did fixed cameras prevent you from doing that before?
For me it didn't. I explored the motel, farm areas etc. just fine, beecause the cameras were purposely placed in ways to show me what was necessary to see, and how I should see it. That is the art of framing that is present in all (good) films, and was present in past TWD games. Now we lose that at the expense of "unscripted combat", which for me is a terrible trade-off because TWD has always been about more about the story and filmic elements than the combat.
@eRock92 Keep calm, man. It's not that serious. I didn't put any words in your mouth. Let's all breathe and relax, now. plays soothing harp music
I provided a perfectly logical explanation as to why you're strawman argument against me was invalid and now you're trying to spin it like I'm just being mad.
I'm done responding to you until you post something of substance.

I feel like the over-the-shoulder camera is just a good addition to the game's cinematography. You can see more camera action in the HD footage just shown on Twitch:
I just like how it kind of brings Telltale to more "modern" video game graphic standards and makes it easier to explore the surrounding environment in one swoop.

So, I'm not seeing any scar, tattoo or missing finger on this Clementine model, which is odd, I thought they were going with the lacking finger for the default model, did they even talk about Clementine appearence depending on your choices? It would be awkward Clementine growing fingers, healing scars and removing tattoos.
That Clementine in the demo is probably the one that went with Jane. I don’t think she gets injured that way.
Or maybe....Maybe ANF isn’t canon like I said!

I am so excited for this game. It definitely looks like this game will be the closest to season 1. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little skeptical about the teenage cast but it does have a lot of potential if Telltale pulls it off.
The gameplay looks a lot like season 1 but better. Unscripted combat is a huge improvement and I like how when Clem picks up the knife instead of declaring, "This... is a knife!" like Lee would have, she simply examines it and puts it away. I loved season 1 but all of those times when Lee would dramatically proclaim obvious things aloud was so cringy.
I took a closer look at AJ and Ten’s promo pics, and they’re not really the same model. Their eye position is different, the nose shape is different, not the same mouth, not the name size of ears, different facial structure, different upper body structure.
That said, I still hope they reconsider AJ’s model and voice-acting because he seems so much older than he’s supposed to be.
I don't agree with your presupposition that they are awkward, but yes, I love the fixed camera angles in The Walking Dead just like I love them in all of Telltale's other games, and games like Resident Evil, Until Dawn, God of War, Heavy Rain, Silent Hill, and a bunch of other critically acclaimed games.

So,i think that's what Marlon said to Clem in the Livestream footage
Marlon : You been.. living out there a while.. it’s weird to see pe… moreople our age alone in the wild.
Clem : Hmm you sound surprised, like you think I can’t handle myself..
Marlon : No no No not all at all. Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off that way, and honestly.. it’s pretty cool.

thanks for posting the version with audio
(since my version was like 480p with no audio)
ouch
Oh my god that footage! THAT FOOTAGE! Shut up and take my kidneys.
This looks so bad. I can't believe they are going forward with the awful over-the-shoulder camera. Telltale have truly lost it with this franchise.
They're pretty much out of options, bruh. If they don't evolve their content, they're screwed.
Hopefully on some of the other links on the livestream schedule yet to be shown we get the footage without the commentary and cutaways.

"protected to protectee" PROTECTOR. It's a word, you muppet.

It's fixed camera angles are what also made it stand out before. Not saying the 360° view is bad or anything.

lacking finger right there
Awww girls grow up so fast. One minute they are having their period, next one they are growing alien claws to butcher people.
The water mark says it's pre-release footage and doesn't represent the final product. Maybe it's a neutral game model to prevent spoilers (???).
And how should the series evolve?
Duple post.
I'm so psyched for this and I almost completely trust that they know what they're doing.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's good to see that they will at least somewhat acknowledge past events.

Liquid Snake.
