  • I had heard (without sources) that the episodes were already finished (first time for Telltale) and that they only needed polish and bugfixes. Im praying that is the case, and that this guy is simply misinformed. Everything looks so grim...

TFS staff got terminated. Can't release episodes when they weren't made. This is what I was saying earlier. The only hope is that Hawley liked a tweet saying there are inaccuracies to that story.

  • Ep3 was far into production. Ep4 was the only one that had bare bones.

  • So, i created an acount today. sorry in advanced for my bad english because i am writting with emotions. I first though it was a joke from J. Sterling until I went to multiple videogame pages. I am DEVASTATED. I love telltale games, I consider the walking dead season 1 my best game of all time. I cried in the end and get emotionally related to their characters. This game change my mind about what games can transmit. I can not concentrate in my work anymore at the moment because like I lost something very precious to me. It was fun to read your comments

  • Honestly, they should just release what they have and offer refunds to people who purchased the season pass. Release all the art, assets and the script, same with TWAU2, and do a big Q&A on reddit. At least then they'd be giving their fans closure. Anything else is honestly cruel.

  • Anything unfinished cannot be finished. Hence why it will not be released.

  • No clue. If you're right then there is (some) hope for 3 and 4's release. If they aren't completely finished then the series will end at 2.

  • Unless the people remaining are the writers, I don't think that will happen either.

I bet there will be leaks, mostly by VA's and such, that will explain how the game would have ended (for both TWAU and TFS) but other than that...

Dumb for Kevin to be liking this lmao

  • Is it too late for TTG to be bought by a bigger company or do you all think the financial burden coming along with it ruins any incentive to buy?

  • Why are people sucking this guy's dick

PEOPLE, HE'S THE ONE WHO PUT TELLTALE INTO THIS SITUATION. HE SIGNED THEIR DEATH WARRANT WITH THAT LAWSUIT. HE'S THE REASON WHY 300 PEOPLE ARE OUT OF A JOB. HE DOESN'T DESERVE YOUR PRAISE OR SYMPATHY, AND HE DEFINITELY SHOULDN'T BE RUNNING A COMPANY.

For fuck's sake, I feel like I'm going insane reading half of the info that's been coming out all day lmao

  • This is what happens when management treats both their employees and fans like absolute shit. Having been on these forums since the Season 1 days when I was a huge fan it’s unfortunate how things have turned out.

From the horrible glassdoor reviews (that some people refused to believe) to staff not showing up to AMA’s that they agreed to hosting, then saying the fans had an overreaction to their behavior. I’ve seen this coming and have called this out plenty times in the past. It’s sad that these people lost their jobs but having known how shitty they were being treated, hopefully they can actually find a job that pays them for their hard work. So many employees forced to do overtime and never getting paid for it, and not even getting severance is disgusting.

All future games are canceled. Episode 2 will likely be the last episode. No episode 3 or 4.

The rest of the team is finishing off the deal telltale had with Netflix. After that, it’s over.

Met a lot of people during the 5 years I’ve been on these forums, was a wild ride. I hope everyone who lost their jobs finds a new and caring one. See y’all in another life.

  • I loved you Telltale. I had high hopes. But alas, all I have are memories. Thank you for the memories, and the games TT.

I was beyond devastated to find out about this news.

I still have fond memories of playing the first season of The Walking Dead all those years ago.
Would have loved to see the future seasons of Batman as well, I loved season 1, as well as The Enemy Within.

But most of all, I am (and will for a long time be) grieving the loss of The Wolf Among Us season 2 (and beyond), the first season, I still treasure to this day.

Thank you Telltale, for giving me joy, laughter, tears, excitement, and happiness over the years.

    You will not be forgotten.

  • I think ill miss you most of all

I remember in 2005 or 06 some PR or community person from Telltale found me on Myspace because I reviewed "Sam and Max Hit The Road" as a nostalgic piece (and they were beginning to ramp up for what would at the time be the new Sam and Max games). It was very cool in many ways because not only were they reviving Sam and Max, but trying to bring something new to the Adventure genre which was never dead but at the time it had mostly stalled as a gaming genre (being relegated to mainly just games from the Adventure Company and other small developers from eastern European countries, it seemed, which vary in quality even still).
Anyway, I was ecstatic for the games they released for a very long time only losing my interest when it seemed like they were taking on too many IP and not really improving significantly enough on the engine they continued to use.
It feels like they were something of considerable interest to me, in a middle chapter of my life, but at some point I fell off as the engine never got better, and the quality of the games seemed to decline considerably.
It's a shame. I was looking forward to what they could do with another season of The Wolf Among Us, but I suppose everything comes to an end some day, and it feels like that series didn't have a lot of support anyway.
Oh well. I hope all the developers get other jobs. I'm sorry to see the last remnants of Lucas Arts hay day go away, but thus ends another chapter in the history of gaming.
This is not the first developer, or website, that I was around for a very long time to then see go away- it probably wont be the last, but I will never forget the highs of TellTale. Ya'll made some great games and stories.

  • Something doesn't add up...why announcing a physical version of the final season early september, only to have everything cancelled? it's like something happen very recently that fucked up everything.

Okay, so from this Variety article Netflix issued a statement as a part of their partnership.

“We are saddened by the news about Telltale Games – they developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the ‘Stranger Things’ universe to life in an interactive medium.”

So... MCSM is a go, but Stranger Things is up in the air (personally I don't think that 25 people are going to be able to make a full Telltale series), but it could mean that they could instead make something smaller for Netflix's platform instead.

Still no definitive answers on The Final Season though.

  • Even with all this information out, this all feels like a very realistic nightmare that I can't wake up from.

  • That made me tear up a bit. I wish her the best of luck, as I do for all of Telltale's former staff.

Job J. Stauffer commented on all this: (and it's also unfiltered Stauffer! No vague PR speech obviously!)

This one's important. Remember Job was still Telltale's PR guy when Wolf 2 was announced:

"We previously reported that a skeleton crew will remain behind to complete work on The Walking Dead Final Season. That information was inaccurate. Sources who wish to remain anonymous explained that there is a skeleton crew at Telltale, but they will be working on the Minecraft Story Mode project for Netflix. In fact, The Walking Dead team was also laid off today and The Walking Dead Final Season will not be completed. "

    No...

Episode 2 better not have an extreme cliffhanger (though knowing Telltale it totally will).

I don't want it to end here! We were so close!

EDIT: Also, this is gonna be embarrassing. All those locked trophies/achievements are going to be sad to look at (though I assume they might get Sony to remove them).

  • Damn, Stauffer surely didn't mince words here. Granted he's right that the way the company treated workers with the news (ie not giving out severance) is a douche move, but I do think some of this is also his own ill feelings towards Hawley since he was laid off months back.

  • If skybound doesn’t do something for TFS I’m not supporting TWD anymore.

  • As bad as this situation is, please do not threaten violence towards staff members - be it jokingly or literally. Thanks.

  • I'm amazed there's still moderators here at all to be honest.

  • I just heard the news. Damn! Now we very likely won’t get a Bone 3!

  • This concerns me as well, I need to know what my options are given the fact that the Telltale downloads might be vanishing at some point. Some communication would be nice.

    BlackMageJ posted: »

What happens to the downloads? I supported TTG by buying direct, do I lose everything, or can I get Steam/GOG keys to keep access to all my games?

  • I attempted to contact their customer support about it and had an immediate stock reply saying "sorry, customer support is closed indefinitely, thanks for playing over the years" at all avenues. I think they laid off their entire customer support team so I don't think they'll be doing anything about our Telltale.com libraries, especially with a skeleton crew of 25 people.

Not sure why Job is throwing Pete under the bus when it was a no win situation for Pete especially since he was trying to get the company back into shape.

  • Probably the fact none of the staff were given severance, they were given half an hour to vacate the building before being escorted by security, and Telltale were hiring new people as of a week ago. One even relocated across the country. That's horrible management, higher ups had to have known something decisive was going to happen a week in advance. But who knows.

  • That's... that's bad. The easy simple fix would be to grant people GOG access if they own it via Telltale... but that requires people to do the porting.
