Monkey Island Fans are from where?

I am just curious, how many different countries did the Monkey Island games get to? I see fans form all over! I am kinda surprised I thought the first two games where not very big titles as it took so long for CoMI and EoMI to get made and released. I am wondering where I could find out how far and wide Monkey Island has spread.

    Where's Slovenia?

Anyway... for the record I'm from the UK myself.

I reckon that most Monkey Island fans are European (mostly German I suspect) but I'm sure there's many a fan worldwide. After all, who doesn't enjoy a little monkey lovin'? ...not that sort of lovin', you perv!

Born in the UK living in Australia. Don't know what madness prompted me to pick up EfMI. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the game, but looking back it seems like the most arbitrary of choices for a kid to have made. Glad I did though. It's a great series.

    Italy.
The first 2 MI's had no voices.
They were already subtitled and localized in italian, or at least the later versions I played were.
I played MI (1 & 2) years later, PC's were not yet mainstream in Italy those years.

Entirely understandable. Living in Schäuble's Germany is no picnick either, although for different reasons.

Still, I can't imagine living anywhere else but in good ol' Germany.

I'm from smack bang in the middle of England. We were better in the old days when we came up with all the sports and ruled the world with and iron fist. Now we're kinda crap.

I'm from Middle East, Saudi Arabia

and my first MI game was MI2. I was a kid at the time and I couldn't understand an english sentence longer than my name :D but I didn't really care because at that time the graphics, animations and soundtracks captured me totally. I remember putting that freakin bucket on Largo's door was the most difficult puzzle I cam across.

Wow, great line up guys! Keep'em coming. I did forget to mention I was form thr Us, ut I thought that was implied. I love hearing that you were able to do MI2 without being able to the language, you sir are a dedicated fan! I salute you:D

Geypi, I have no desire to start some kind of forum war with you so first of all, peace ;)

However, just to clear things up; I was trying to point out that if you look at the post I originally responded to and my then read my response then I think it should be fairly obvious that I was making a joke (i.e. trying to give the impression that I am in fact stupid).. I never said the joke was funny ;)

Therefore, when you suggested that I am retarded, I found that to be a tad offensive.

A lot of my offense came from your use of the word 'retarded' because I happen to know quite a few mentally-handicapped people and I don't think they or I appreciate the use of the word 'retard' as an insult.

I refused to insult you in return and so I simply pointed out the obvious to you and returned the proverbial retard-insult-ball back in your direction.

Sorry to have rambled on a bit, I have a habit of doing that but Geypi, please allow me to wrap up by assuring you that the above was typed purely to explain my previous posts and I mean no hostility towards you at all.

Can't we all just get along? :D
Geypi, Davies - get a grip lads, you two could start a fight in an empty house!

Well, actually I did start a fight in an empty house once, funny story... (just in case: joke) :p

Doesn't this thread deserve a poll?

I am from Chile, but when I started playing The Secret of Monkey Island I was living in Brazil and I consider this series one of the big reasons that helped me to learn English.

It's great to see so many fans from so many different places. I consider we should make all together a big pirate nation!

Woah man, that's amazing! I understood the text when I first played MI2 and that bucket puzzle was just one of many that stumped me. Heck, I spent half my playing time using random objects on each other and the items throughout the game-world, with my fingers crossed! Kudos, I salute you.
