Romances in Final Season a good idea?
Alright so I'm just wondering what people on these forums thinks about it; isn't it a bit lame? It's the final season and they are trying to stuff it with romances with a pair of brand new characters we have just been introduced to.
This should have been Clementine's worthy send-off / ending and they are stuffing it with romances.

From what I see people like it it’s a chance for clem to have a happy ending
I mean at least she actually has chemistry with the potential romance options as opposed to Gabe in ANF which was forced as shit.
Giggity
I find it to be good. We as the players get to decide if we want Clementine to be with someone so if it isn't one players cup of tea they can stray away from it.
Clementine has spent so long trying to survive that she hasn't had the opportunity to live her life. Being able to let herself go would be especially good for her mental health.
Whats precisely wrong with it? Its allow to see a more mature Clem dealing with more mature subjects, namely, romance and relantionships. I think is adequate to do at this point
That's great. Since I have a huge feeling that Clementine is going to die (not only feeling though...) so I'd rather let her be happy with Louis for as long as she can. If she won't die then fine, she also can be happy with Louis.
It's a great idea, because it's ultimately very human and very positiv and hopeful to feel these kind of feelings for other people especially in Clementine's age.
What makes the implementation fantastic is the fact that you don't have to engage in a romantic relationship if you don't want to. You can just be great friends with one or the other. The writers were really smart that they don't make Violet/Louis hold it against you. Quite the opposite actually. Violet and Louis' feelings for Clementine are determinant by what the player chooses. If you want to be good friends with them, then they see Clementine as a good friend. If you want more than that, then they want that, too.
Thinking about it makes me realise that you can't actually friendzone them, because whatever you choose, they will feel the same way.
Edit: Thinking about it even more, in a lot of other games where a romance is an option, it is often handled like a reward. But here it just feels natural.
Okay guys. Hear me out. I think Arvo would've been a complex love interest given that he has James's plot part of the story.( saves Clem in the woods, became a whisper after shooting Clem in Season 2)
Whispers are not allowed to use their names some of them forgotten their names. Instead of Arvo stating his name in the woods like James just does, he'll remember his name in Episode 4 . From there, the players can have the choice to forgive Arvo or not. Regardless of player's choice, Aj still show some respect for Arvo
After Gabentine, any well-done romance is a good idea.
Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.
Definitely not.
Depends on how the Season will end tbh
I think it's a good idea. In order to create drama, you need characters you care about. AJ alone is not enough. Clem has to interact with other people. The plot revolves around these characters. Some of them are going to be Clem's friends. Love interests or not, when they're captured, you still want to save them. If you don't romance Violet, as a good friend you will still want to save her. So why not give the player the option to go one step further? Clem has reached the dating age anyway.
...Wuh...?
aaaah.
I mean....if she is really going to die in the end what was the point...and if she survives and the shippers dissappear WHATS.THE.POINT.still hoping I'm wrong that IF we get to see the ending.
I find this delusional because we all know Violet or Louis are going to die one way or the other.
It's the final season but it's still the TWD. There are no happy endings. TT is not going to make it easy for it anyone. The synopsis of this season is "sacrifice".
I disagree because the only character I really really care about aside from Clementine is AJ.
So AJ is just enough, imo.
Plus we all know everyone not named AJ who hangs Clem always die..
What about ANF? As deeply, deeply flawed as it is, if you make the correct choices you can actually get a pretty happy ending in that season.
yeah, Conrad and that doctor can make it to the end
Which ANF!Clementine can easily fuck you over on even if you know the right combinations.
Spare Conrad and Lingard, go with Kate to seal breach and split with Clementine so Kate and Gabe can live, forgive Eleanor, return Kate's feelings, agree to lead Richmond.
I'm still waiting for my sex scene between Lily and unnamed character #7
ANF is a spin off.
Beside other comments that answered well, there's also a point that romance has been a subject in comics and tv show very often and sex too.
I made a thread that addresses this at some point in my big paragraph saying that i think it was handled a bit immaturely for a game that has always handled things maturely, like they use words like "crush" and play marry fuck kill and they making too many downtime/connecting scenes to make players like louis and violet and i personally thought it was all a bit cheesy, teenage romance in a game like this is a bit lame imo and a bit a fan service for fangirls, but i guess they want clem to experience romance at some point before, and if, they kill her off
Teenage romance for teenagers?
How dare they write them as teenagers!
Also: those characters being written immaturely is kind of the point, you know? They aren't adults.
I'm alright with it, but don't want it to serve as too much of a focus.
No shit im saying its hard for a lot of people (especially older viewers) to get on board with it bc it comes off a bit cheesy and fruity which is one thing the walking dead has never been. Especially because clem is known for being mature for her age - it's why she's so liked by all players. They could've handled it more maturely, they're in their late teens but the way they handle the romances are like theyre 12, especially since this group should be extra mature given whats happened in their lives. Teenage romance doesn't have to be immature, In their universe, a relationship, especially a romantic one should be built on trust, respect and loyalty even more so than usual, and none of those seem to be the reason for clem and louis' romance like they literally met not that long ago, not saying its bad exactly, just saying people who aren't young will likely not really like it.
I personally think it's nice to have a romance option for the final season. Clem has been too young to have a relationship in previous seasons and there's been alot of complaints that are choices don't matter as everything effectively ends the same way. However this time we have the option of romance, it's not forced and we have options! (Louis, Violet, Noone)
Well....hate to say this but what you consider romance is....trash xD No offence but loyalty, trust and respect is not what romance is about. Rather admiration, attraction, more selfish yet humble emotions. And why would clem be anything but unmature as she has no experience when it comes to romance. Why do you say she should be extra mature given whats happened in "their" lives. I think you sir need to go out on the field more
I somewhat agree with this.
Yeah man, everyone would love to hear about Clementine's period problems. Totally adequate and necessary because she's at that age and we need to show her development.
I mean... it's determinant, right ?
For the record. We already did that in ANF.
Besides, is in those small details where characters are truly fleshed-out.
In that case even literally.
It's not forced like Gabentine
It's determinant
Stop complaining.
Cuz kissy stuff is icky.
Alright listen here you romantically experienced fuck
I was more referring to starting a relationship rather than romance when I said loyalty trust and respect because in the walking dead universe, It's probably not a good idea to commit someone who you can't trust or respect when it could get you killed (I'm assuming that they will turn the romance into more?).
And I said they should be extra mature meaning that given their long experience of the shit they've been through they would be smart enough to not act on their "selfish yet humble" emotions and start a fuckign romance right before theyre about to be attacked
But i agree with clem not being mature in the romance section but i guess i didn't expect her to even go there, she's always been smart and focused on surviving rather than getting caught up in leisure things like playing piano or lying under the stars, idk i just dont like the immaturity of the new season when one of the main appeals of this franchise is how maturely it handles subjects
It was never forced. It barely even a thing.
