Adam Harrington was LeChuck's voice in Narwhal. Kevin Blackton only came in as Human LeChuck in Spinner Cay.
And who did Human LeChuck's voice in Narwhal? Was that Adam?

So we'd now end up with two different Human LeChucks and two different Zombie LeChucks?

I don't recall Human LeChuck having any lines in Narwhal, the ship blows up whilst he's still looking at himself in shock and at the end him and Elaine are viewed from a distance, so no sound.

Regarding this issue, didn't Dom mention in an interview a while back that he was about to fly out for the last time to record Episode 5? This would mean that all the dialogue has already been recorded, the main issue with Earl Boen was that he was retired and didn't want to fly out all the time, so really, bringing him back for the final episode, and then just doing a quick run round recording dialogue for the episode 4 ending and (hopefully) re-record the lines from episode 1 is a task that surely could be done in one session?

He's retired, I think. Regarding what I said before - I think human LeChuck is great, but Demon Lechuck's lines should be redubbed by Earl.

He did the special edition of the original

Did Earl Boen not actually give a human LeChuck in EMI (as Charles L. Charles)?

that was a politician, that he was pretending to be like good ole Fester Shinetop!

    Yes, he did.

So... who did that line? :p

Unless Kevin Blackton is credited, I'm assuming Adam Harrington did all of LeChuck's lines in Narwhal.

I feel a bit bad for the voice-actor of human LeChuck.
Maybe he was planned as voice of demon LeChuck for the whole series at first, but the plans were changed because of the lukewarm reaction? Telltales are developers to listen to the fans after all...

So, I just wanna say that I loved his human LeChuck, and also had no complaints about the demon LeChuck from episode 1, not being biased because I never got to hear a MI-game with english voice-overs before.

It´s hard to take over a role strongly associated with a different actor, but Mr. Harrington proved to be a great voice-actor and did a very good job. I hope to hear him again in some role. :)

The voice actor for Demon LeChuck in the first chapter was different to the voice actor who played Human LeChuck in the following chapters. So whlie you are saying you loved his one role and not the other you are in fact talking about two different voice actors.

Human LeChuck did have one line, right after Guybrush stabs him he says, "I... I... I'm human!" That voice sounded like Kevin Blackton even though he went uncredited in the chapter.

Yep, pretty sure that was him

    And to adress the topic...
In the words of stimpy the cat: Joooooooooy!!

This chapter was awesome and that revelation sealed the deal as you have no idea how important that voice is to me.

I agree with all of you on Kevin Blackton did a wonderful job as LeChuck. I'm actualy glad that they had someone else do the human Lechuck. As for Adam Harrington, I'm not saying I don't like him or what he tried to do with the role but it just didn't suit him. I guess I'm an Earl Boen/LeChuck fanboy who just associates Earl with that role.

Actually, at the end of the game, I had my headphones because my girlfriend wanted to play after me and not hear the dialogue but as soon as I heard Earl speak as LeChuck, I raised me arms in the air and as I brought them back down, my elbow got caught on the cord and pulled the the cord back along with the speakers.

    Yes, I was that happy.

Wow. Three different voices for one character in one game. Seems like evil is not only evolving in shape.

Put me down as another who hopes Earl Boen gets to re-record lines for the previous episodes.

During the final scenes for chapter 4 I was like, "Wow. LeChuck's voice-acting is getting really good!" So I was very surprised/ecstatic to see Earl Boen's name in the credits! But did he also do human LeChuck for that episode? I ask because he was the only one credited.

Oh, and thank you Telltale for bringing him back!

Kevin Blackton is human LeChuck in this episode, and is credited as such (he shows up later in the alphabetical-by-character cast credits)

I didn't realise until I saw the credits. *shamefaced*

Let us just say I was very pleased.

That said, I think Human LeChuck's voice actor has been doing a wonderful job. I was a little sad to see LeChuck turn back to a demon, largely because it meant we wouldn't be hearing that voice anymore--but Earl Boen more than makes up for it. :)

I still say LeChuck should be English and voiced by Tim Curry!

I do love Earl Boen though :)

While I don't agree with you, Tim Curry is AWESOME.

I feel a little sad, really. I kinda always knew that LeChuck would turn back into a demon form at some point, but I never wanted it to be because he was never good at heart in the first place. I did start to like good human LeChuck, really. Oh well. "Unholy THIS!" is still a classic, though. :) And so far, ToMI LeChuck is my favorite LeChuck, alongside MI2 one - for once we got rid of the cartoonish villian we got in CMI (not that I don't like cheesy LeChuck, I mean, "That will show her how much I care" for me is as much as classic as the "Unholy THIS!" phrase, but...)

Indeed. I wasn't being entirely serious of course. A Tim Curry cameo-character would be uber-awesome (and uber-expensive i'd guess!)

I actually didn't mind Lechuck's Demon voice from the first episode, though I was under the mistaken impression that the same actor did the human voice in the subsequent episodes. And I think Kevin did a really good job as human LeChuck. It's a shame in a way that he won't continue to do the character in episode 5, but it is nice to get Earl Boen back. Now if only they could get back Leilani Jones back as the Voodoo Lady...

Just what did you guys have to go through to get Earl anyway, TT?
  • edited November 2009
I also didn't realize it was Earl Boen until I saw his name in the credits. It's strange, because in the previous Monkey games his LeChuck voice was instantly recognizable and iconic to me, including his work in the very recent Special Edition. He didn't sound like his usual LeChuck in this game, I even went back and watched the ending again to make sure. Maybe his heart wasn't really in it this time. :S

I was sitting enjoying my favourite episode of ToMI so far, thinking it couldn't get any better. It had Stan, DeSinge, the nighttime mood of the older games and even a few dark twists, and then suddenly when LeChuck starts speaking I think "Wow! He really nailed the voice this time." And then I read the credits... :)

Telltale, you couldn't have made a longtime Monkey Island fan any happier. Cheers to Mr. Earl Boen aswell. Love ya, Dr. Silberman. <3

I was positive it was me when I put this reel together (human LeChuck is buried about four or five minutes in): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzRfAVkR-Ho

But after reading all of this... now even I am not 100% sure. If anyone knows for certain please let me know. If it's Kevin I will leave it out of the new reel I'm putting together The new one will be a more watch-able 3 minutes as opposed to the bloated 6 it's at now. Should have my Puzzle Agent guys in there, and some stuff I did on Iron Man 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Test Drive Unlimited 2, and tons of new smaller titles.

If anyone's still reading this discussion and knows the answer (it sure sounds like me) please let me know. I imagine Kevin would be a little pissed at me if I had his character on my reel represented as one of my own. :o

    Thanks guys!

Thanks 108 Stars, but don't feel too bad for me. This kind of thing happens a lot more than you might think. I've been on both ends of the deal more than once, and while it's never cool to loose a job, another one is always around the corner. Like when tt called me back for Moose in ToMI, and Scruffman & Foreman Isaac in Puzzle Agent.

As I've said before, Earl is the one true Le Chuck, I was just lucky to be a stand in for a short while.

And BOY do I know to tone down the "Haarrrrs" in future pirate roles. :o

Thanks for the nice words 108 Stars,

    -Adam
