I'm not sure what I'm looking at here but I'm crying tears of laughter at it. I showed it to my friend and her first reaction was "DAT NECKLACE" before she realized it was even Guybrush and freaked out.
It's not bad art but I think most people feel that the original context and inspiration has indeed been lost. It doesn't feel like Monkey Island and it looks very anime and it's got the wrong energy, emotion behind it for the Monkey Island universe. It feels like all the original context has been lost.
What the hell is the context of this picture? I read the description and I'm still confused.
This version of Guybrush is a from a multi-fandom forum roleplay, a game where the players pick out one or more characters, and they all tell a collaborative story with the characters they picked.
As with fanfiction, there's a danger that characters in a roleplay will act out of character, but the danger seems to be higher with roleplay than with fanfiction. Probably because roleplay is harder to plan out, and people tend to stay up doing it until two am when their judgement is impaired. I'm speaking from experience here.
In the opening scene, he holds another set of c*ck'n'b*lls in his pants:
-->
And if you try to combine the two, he sounds rather disappointed in telling you he has to use it with something else.
If you try to pick up Griswald Goodsoup, GT tells you he doesn't indiscriminantly pick up bartenders.
In his conversation with Murray in the Goodsoup Family Crypt, GT says "so what you're saying is you only love me for my legs." Towards the end of the sentence, he sounds a little dejected.
If you try to push King Andre, GT will say "I think he could take me." This could get taken in the violent sense, or...
Besides Curse, while you're hanging above the pit of acid with Wally in MI2, you can tell him you love him.
There might be lots I've missed. Screenshots of the above upon request.

You're over thinking this. He'll give that response with anything he tries to use with the balloon. And with that whole picture thing, you're doing that. Not the game.

No, he was referring to the fact that Murray wants to be carried around.

This a throwaway gag. I've seen straight guys say these sort of thing all the time as a joke

Once again, you're the one inferring this.
If I was about to die with a friend, I'd tell him or her that I loved him/her. This is also pretty stereotypical to do in movies and such.

Exactly what I thought!
I'd like to add that she also looks like a gorilla.
she's all of them!
It does sort of look like Lechimp, now that it's been mentioned.
Oh my Guybrush, that is win.
Thank you. XD
Awesome.
LeChuck has a mother?
Huh, I always thought he was spawned from a sludgie machine.
I object. He can spit out comebacks other than "meep", unlike the other hellspawns of a sludgie machine.
I don't think he has a mother though...
And changed games somehow? Maybe Bosco is a better inventor than we thought...
Youre right... Winslow looks like the voodoo lady in a... lady?
:P
Good one

Here's something to replace it. Warning: Blood.

Weird, lol.

Good roleplayers try to avoid this, though.
... but personally I'm still freaked out at the whole "marrying a video game character" thing.
You know, it's not a bad thing; unless you're older than 18 of course...
Badly drawn anime is always disturbing to me.
np: Speedy J - Hayfever (Public Energy No.1)
Lechuck? A Professional Ballerina???
1) This is the disturbing art thread and I'm helping to get it back on course
2) Guybrush is probably bisexual, as hinted throughout Curse (quotes on request)
Go on?
I request quotes!

I find this immensely humorous with you signature.

I don't really think your evidence holds up.
he was joking...
