Have you played Curse of Monkey Island?
Guybrush has to die at least twice in that game

You know, that spoilered line wouldn't make sense if it was just about anybody else but Guybrush.

It would make about a thousand percent more sense if it was Roger Wilco, Larry Laffer, or King Graham. I thought LucasArts heroes never died? :p

That's right. You just get walking deads instead...

    Wait...zombie!!!!!!!

Ah Majus, not only do you supply the the musical number that Telltale has deprived me of, you also made it
THE MOST EPIC ENDING TO THE IWWHIToMI POSSIBLE!

Personally, I think chapter 3 was your funniest And my brother thinks chapter 4

But when it comes to pure epicness, this episode takes the cake.

    Some things that stand out
    ~Guybrush falling off the minecart.
    ~The SCUMM(tm) scene
    ~The bad English :D
~The simple pirate god. And very easy to animate I assume...
~The singing LeChuck theme that gets disappointed when the paper goes away.
    ~Singing... in all it's forms.
    ~The ACTION!

And now it's all over. *sniff* I'd be fine ending it here, it really is an epic finale, but. is there any chance of a "I Wounder What Happens After Monkey Tales of Monkey Island"?

I'm sorry to say that I agree with what Anarion said...It was good in and of itself but it wasn't anything like I was expecting...

WHY DO YOU WANT IT TO BE WHAT YOU EXPECTED? IT BEST PART OF THE FILMS WAS WHAT WASN'T EXPECTED! HECK, THE IDEA OF SOMEONE DOING A FLASHFILM WONDERING WHAT GOING TO HAPPEN IN A VIDEO GAME WHO'S FRANCHISE HAS BEEN DEAD FOR NINE YEARS WASN'T EXPECTED AND IT WAS STILL AWESOME.

    [/rant]

PS. Not cap locks, just me holding down SHIFT in rant mode.
PSS. I'm not attacking you personally, I just respectfully disagree with your ideas just like you (hopefully) do mine.

Man, the actuall chapter five might suck compared to the awesomeness in this Flash movie. :D

Well, yea I agree what your saying. I was just disappointed that they chose to concentrate the whole thing on escaping the underworld and didn't even touch on what happens after he's escaped which IMO would have made for greater laughter material, (fighting le chuck, saving elaine etc) but mainly I was just disappointed at how little it made me laugh...

That scene of Guybrush closing the door reminded me of Phantasmagoria :O

    At last!!! Wiiiii :D
This chapter was amazing ^^ I love the song :D
But It was so fast :(
And I wanted to see Morgan, DeSinge or Manny Calavera :(
    It could have been great
But either way I liked so much this animation ^^
Will you do "I wonder what happens after tales of monkey island"??
    Please? Pretty please??

    Bye!

A musical production number in Hell ... reminds me of Futurama. :)

Excellent work, guys! :D This was pure Epicness!
I loved the scene when guybrush grapples across to the white door with the infamous rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle. Btw.. where did he get that from anyways? Is it in the same category as the shovel that's just self-written that he has with him all the time regardless (even if he is naked..)?

Again, HUGE fan of your work! Hope your collaboration doesn't end just because ToMI is finished.

    (..or is it)

You should make a "I wonder what happens in ToMI season 2" right away! :D

That was amazing! And I'm happy to hear it was an intention Robot Devil reference. I've always enjoyed the parts of Futurama where the Robot Devil sings.

However, I've watched the video a few times now, and I still can't figure out what "you should've been dead, and now this closure, it's an analytic review" means.

When I wrote the lyrics I kept thinking "Oh man, Guybrush went through so much, he really should have been dead by now. He died a couple of times and went through death defying situations..."

I laid back in my chair.
"Telltale is crazy... They killed Guybrush! They're closing the circle."

I ran my fingers over the piano keys.
"The Curse of Monkey Island caught up with him."

I liked the sound of the notes I played.
"He always had to fight forces of evil. He almost "teased" them by "almost dying" so many times... They got used to that. This event won't be so great for them... it's more like an analytical review. Nothing special, JUST an analytical review. They draw the line, "calculate", review the calculations and conclude that it's his time! Finally! The Curse caught up with him."

I wrote down those ideas, lyrics started to form... there you have it. The chorus.

At least that's what was running through my head at that time. I showed it to Majus, he loved it, we kept going from there. :) Hope that helps you get it.

I think it's the best installment of IWWH.

Oh my gosh, I already said it in Majus' blog, but I have to say it again - this... was... BRILLIANT! You guys are so amazing! I almost feared you wouldn't be able to top your last episode, but you really managed to surpass yourselves yet again! I LOVED it! :D
And yeah, I felt reminded of the Futurama episode "Hell is other Robots", too. That was awesome! :)
Really, everything was SO great! The astonishing backgrounds, the camera rotations, the singing, the lyrics, the suspense, the rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle, the verb interface... EVERYTHING! The Pirate God seemed a little disappointing first, but with all this simplicity, it was funny in the end. :D Really, guys, you totally made my day with this little flash movie! :)

I really really hope the real "Rise of the Pirate God" game can live up to the high expectations you built with that! :D

Great show! I think I'm gonna like this one more than the actual game.

Hmm... Nor Treblig? There something special with that name, but I can't put my finger on it.

    Haha easy!
It took me a while tho.
    It's actually n anagram for
    girl, be torn
    !
    Clearly an indicator that either
    Elaine
    or
    Morgan
    are being
killed in a very unplesant way!!111
...seriously if I'm right I'll so kick my arse :D

Hmm.. If this is indeed the case as you say Suro, then it will be
    the voodoo lady
that causes this as she had
a shrine to nor treblig in her hut!

Or you could be completely wrong and
    it's just an in-joke.
    :D

Nor is Ron backwards, as is Treblig Gilbert.

You guys didn't get that? Keeper of the crossroads? The Grumpy Gamer? It's all spelled out for you. (no pun intended)

    That means...

The name RON GILBERT is actually an anagram for GIRL, BE TORN.

Thought it was good, but nothing can top "it's meaty and dangerous out there." Just my opinion.

The pirate-god scene also reminded me of The Matrix, when Neo meets the Architect.

Im gona put the curse of monkey island has caught up to you song on my mp3

Hey, great work Majus and Co.! Loved it as always!

Did I detect a Matrix reference in the pirate god part? It sure reminded me of the room Neo goes to in the 2nd movie to meet the designer or whatever he was called.
  • edited December 2009
Loved it :D but... am I the only one that got crackly sound in several places during it?

(The "Spinnerdance" also crackles like heck for me... :()

The first few episodes, Majus could guess what was going to happen next. But this 5th episode is so ... well, you know -- no one knows!
So I was very curious if Majus would make a 5th IWWWHITOMI and he cleverly dodged the bullet by doing to generic musical number! Well done :)

And what's next - a flash movie called 'The Story of TOMI in 5 Minutes' ?

    I missed that one, too!!
Are there more of those dances?
