Best chapter in this series...

Not that they weren't all brilliant, but one's got to have the edge...

For my money, it's simply GOT to be Lair of the Leviathan. Complex and character-centered puzzles, awesome manatee artwork, Murray, and
a brief spell posessing the voodoo lady's body!
And Murray again.

Let's hear it for LotL.

I enjoyed Trial and Execution the best, mostly due to its revelatory nature and the way it tied back into the entire series.

Another vote for TaE. I simply loved the characters: Stan, WP, Krebbs, D'Oro. And the LeChuck chest stab was just genius.

Having said that, all episodes are very close in quality.

My favourite was Leviathan too. Due to the tight puzzles inside the belly of the beast, plus Murray's brilliant usage. And also a "wow" location unlike any other previous Monkey Island game.

Trial and Execution. The emotional pay offs were huge and there were a couple of very imaginative puzzles that made my mind melt with happiness.

4 - atmosphere, original puzzles, twist at the end.
5 - atmosphere, location design, characters, final fight; would be first if more explanation given.
2 - LeChuck, Merfolk, piratey feel, initial fight.
3 - nice location design and puzzles, but on the other hand - few locations and short playtime.
1 - few good puzzles (like the lab one), first MI after 9 years; but I HATE the jungle mazes.

4 - initially didn't love it but upon reflection it was best for me
5 - started off brilliantly and felt like original monkey island series (dog, graves, the cool boat guy, bit creepy, great music)
1 - mazes were no fun but despite thinking it was short originally was one of the longest episodes and was an introduction to new characters and for me had the most classic of puzzles in the season
2 - was ok, didn't feel very monkey islandy, good though.
3 - against the grain, didn't love it at all, felt way too small location wise.

I'd say it's 4 > 3 > 5 > 2 > 1 for me. But as a whole I consider the whole ToMI experience a very good Monkey Island game with not many flaws at any point.

    4) Drama + an actually threatening LeChuck reminded me of MI2. Anything that reminds me of MI2 is bound to be superb.
    5) Decent ending, I didn't really get into the music and atmosphere and it should've felt much darker, especially after the ending of episode 4. The LeChuck fight was the best since MI2, but not as good as.
    3) Murray. Need I say more?
    2) The music really felt like Final Fantasy to me.
    1) Good start and a nice opening for a game that was only going to get better and better by each character (well, until it peaked in chapter 4). The first Monkey Island in ten years, of course I was excited!

I think I'd have to play them all again to be sure, I have always felt the most recent I've played has been the best!

As one complete game - 9.99/10

4-5-3-2-1. The last one was great too, specially the last fight scene.

It is a real fight between 4st and 3rd episode.
    My actual ranking:

3 and 4: Real "Monkey Island" approach, with a new vision to tell the story : The Drama.
5: Awesome ending, perfect in atmosphere (Michael Land give the best in Tales Series), lechuck is very cool :P
    2: Fantasy stuff!
1:After 9 years, a good beginning, with a new guybrush, a new story, but with the old (affective) Approach.

    GLOBAL VOTE: 9.5/10

Trial and Execution. What a ride. Not sure about the order of the rest though. At first I didn't really think what to made out of Leviathan, but after all five chapters have been released I appreciate it for its bright tone - a very solid chapter.

4-3-5-1-2. I don't like Spinner Cay. Rest is above the average. I really wanted to make Lair of the Leviathan be my top (it's the episode where Morgan gets the spotlight), but it would be lying to myself. Trial and Execution had so much materials and creative puzzles in it, I can say that it's the strongest episode in all the series.

For me, it's a tie between Chapters 4 and 5. Second place is a tie between Chapters 2 and 3, and then comes Chapter 1. But as a whole, the Tales of Monkey Island have been brilliant!

    3) Excellent, tight and economical puzzle design with great characters and development, a joy from start to finish.
    5) Brilliant atmosphere and satisfying conclusion, make up for a little too much hopping around and some repeats of some of the lazier parts of episode 4.
    2) Built on the strengths of the first episode but in hindsight was a bit too many locations for too few puzzles.
    1) A solid start, but with too much reliance on those map puzzles, and weaker characters than the rest of the series.
    4) In my (minority, apparently) the weakest in the series despite some great plot stuff. Puzzles particularly in the second half felt arbitrary and a distraction from the main story, and the trial itself felt more mundane than I had expected. The ending makes up for it, and I'd still call this a solid entry - just my least favourite.

Seriously. I like LotSN MUCH better than SoSC. SoSC is my least favorite, and RoTPG is my favorite. I'm actually kind of surprised I'm pretty much the only one here who actually thinks the finale was the best episode.

3: Great pacing and interesting character interactions (De Cava, Murray, Morgan).
4: Amazing end sequence (from completing the Feast onwards), but kind of lackluster before that.
1: I like the introductions of the Pox plot and major new players like De Singe, Human LeChuck and Winslow, but takes too long to get the season arc going.
2: Felt a little too detached from the rest of the chapters, and I still think the merpeople don't mesh well with the MI universe.
5: Completely assassinated Elaine and the Voodoo Lady's characters; rushed ending favors sequel hooks in favor of actually making sense.

4 and 5 are equal best. I liked the rest all equally well, in different ways, I think they did a good job on the whole series.
