...is that formatted in minutes:seconds? 45 minutes for Secret and 1 hour 3 minutes for LeChuck's Revenge? Am I reading that right? How in the world did you finish so fast without skipping cutscenes or dialogue?

I guess you were right, OzzieMonkey. I must've done more extra stuff than I thought last time. I just finished Curse in 2:30, and not one person came to watch. I'm going to go sit in the corner and cry now.

At 2:44, beaten my first monkey in MK, got the milk bottle and accordian. Have pulled the weeds up from the lava field.

Oh, there there, Guru. Anyways, well done finishing Curse so quickly. Does that one count towards this race or your other 3 hour one?

The way I figure it, since I just substituted my times in from the canceled race since I couldn't participate yesterday and Icedhope is getting a second chance to run through with all new times, there's no harm in me replacing my times, as long as I don't play the same game over and over again for better times or something. I won't have any time to play between now and when I start Tales in 7 1/2 hours (I need to go to bed!), so if I want to replace my times for Secret, MI2, and Escape, I'm going to have to do it after I'm finished with Tales.

Besides, I'd been playing for a good 10 hours by the time I started Escape last time. I actually fell asleep a couple times while doing Monkey Kombat. I'd like to see how I do when I'm not sleep-deprived.

So. Yeah. I've just finished Escape. It took me 11 hours and 8 minutes.

    What?

Okay, so maybe I didn't remember so much about Escape as I thought I would. At chapter 2, my brain stopped functioning and I wouldn't have been able to progress far without that extraordinary help I got from the MI community. Thank you guys, a lot. I really mean it. You are awesome people. Especially Captain Mickey and TPravetz (lava ride), but the rest of you rock too.

You can probably go ahead and disqualify me now, since I skipped numerous dialogue options (This is highly unorthodox), checked UHS Hints several times, and most of all got tips from TPravetz and Mickey. Actually, maybe not so much hints as blatant solutions. Typed in CAPS. Several times. (Cut the weeds)

I'll still be playing Tales tomorrow, er, today. And you are still very welcome to drop by. I don't expect anything other than last place in the race, so I'm not even sure I'll try to rush it. *falls asleep on keyboard*

Actually, there's no rule against help, and Icedhope and I helped each other a bit during our first attempt at a race, so you're good there. There was also no rule against walkthroughs. And the dialogue rule only applies to cutting characters off in mid-sentence with the period key in older games or right click in Tales. As long as they don't start talking, you don't have to invite them to say more.

But yeah, you are six hours behind apenpaap and I, pretty much all of which you picked up with Escape. I personally wouldn't mind if you wanted to run Escape again for a better time, now that it's fresh in your mind (especially considering that I probably only did as well in it as I did because I'd run the whole series a month earlier, so it was all very fresh), but 1. I can't speak for everyone and 2. I wouldn't want to ask you to play Escape again so soon.

Glad to hear I'm still in the game, Guru. Although, upon re-reading my last post, I realise that I was unclear. I didn't just skip options, I used the period key several times. I must have ridden that lava ride a hundred times, that's how tired and unfocused I was. I'd be crazy not to skip that same dialogue over and over.

I'll leave Escape as it is though, that time makes me look hardcore. Doesn't it? Alright, maybe it doesn't. I would go back to replay it once more, but I think I need to concentrate what little energy I have left on Tales. Besides, I have no chance against Ozzie. :)

And I'm so sorry I overslept. Not only did it mess up my day/night cycle even more, it also means I'll be starting Tales 2 hours later than promised. Really sorry. I will start in a half hour, 6 PM GMT.

Lastly, I'd like to heave some more praise over the MI fans who came to watch. I just can't do it enough. You really saved my life during these hours. THANK YOU again! I feel I should also have mentioned Mandahaya in my last post, since she hung around during most of Curse (which I was admittedly sick of by the time I was ready to take on Rottingham). I know she would have stayed longer if she could. You're great, Manda. I hope I haven't forgotten anybody else.

It was a ton of fun playing EfMI with ya Harald! :D Espiecally with the Ozzie's walking stick puzzle. Glad to hear though that you've gotten over the dang lava puzzle :) Sleep is very good. You deserve it!

    Giggles!

Pfft, 2 hours is nothing. I overslept and I'm going to be starting Tales 5 hours later than I was supposed to. Going to grab a shower and something to eat and hopefully get started in half an hour.

I finished The Siege of Spinner Cay in 1 hour 20 minutes, but I really don't feel up for three more chapters, so I'lkl be finishing Tales tomorrow.

Finished Trial and Execution in 1:25. Taking about half an hour for dinner and then I'll be starting Pirate God.
  • edited December 2009
At 51 minutes into Siege, set up the rubber tree.
  • edited December 2009
Finished Pirate God in 1:35. That puts my total time for the race at 22:05. That may or may not go down, depending on if I decide to re-do Secret and Escape for the second race.
  • edited December 2009
Pirate God took me 1 hour and 57 minutes to finish.

Wow, what a race. These days I've had more fun and less sleep than I've ever had with a Monkey Island game before. If that makes sense. Anyway, it's been really great. If there is interest in doing something like this again, I'm definitely in.

I may or may not post some more thoughts tomorrow, depending on how much sense this one makes to me when I've had some rest.

    Good night.
