Apparently Phil Lamarr will most likely be voicing Captain Dread! For those of you that don't know him, he's the voice actor for Hermes Conrad from Futurama.

Is it just me or does it look too light outside in that latest screenshot? It almost looks like daylight through the windows and door behind Guybrush, whereas we know that (for some reason) it's always dark on Scabb Island.
This is obviously a screenshot from chapter 2, so it is supposed to be daylight outside.

Ooh, nice! This is our first confirmation on a voice actor in the game (except Alexandra Boyd, who described "another Monkey Island game" in the can).
Still no confirmation on Dom being back yet though, or Earl Boen (the laugh on the site sounds like him, but that could've come from any of the other games). I can't imagine Dom won't be back, but we haven't heard too much about voices at all yet and it's been a while since the announcement now.

Yea im sure Dom will be back I cant see why he wouldnt want to be, and I highly doubt that they would have got someone else.
So THAT's what bugged me when I looked at it.
The locks do not look like they should like this.
This looks like paper cutouts, which I'm sure they're not supposed to look like.

It says on the official MI2SE page that the all-star cast of Monkey Island is returning.
Eeeh, not sure I'm as big a fan of this screen. The atmosphere feels off. I don't know why, I can't quite place it.
Seriously? In my opinion, the atmosphere of this screen was off in the original. I don't think they changed anything inside the cabin from when it was docked at Scabb island, they just changed the outside to make it lighter. That always kind of bugged me.
This time around, though, you can tell they're at sea in the morning because of the slightly foggy, bloomy atmosphere. I can almost smell the sea salt.
Well that's not entirely true. I can smell pizza. But still.
God damn it what's with all the pirates having big red noses? Certain characters suit it, but every other pirate except Guybrush? Won't be surprised if Dread has a big red nose too!

seriously? we are complaining about red noses now?
seriously? we are complaining about red noses now?
I've not complained about anything on this before, but seeing the updated characters, it's like they're going for the TellTale look, all the characters are starting to look the same face wise, they all have big red noses, some characters suit it, but other characters just have the face for no reason, like the woodshop guy, his face is thin in the original, remake, fat face big red nose.

It's an artistic style, its something I tend to do a lot color wise in my own art A LOT with guys, its a style I like, and I think you're nitpicking if you're complaining about a nose. If I was drawing pirates, you'd be seeing a lot of red noses out of me too. Red noses are fun to draw and can also emphasize cold air around the character. In an open nighttime sea area like Woodtick, which isn't tropical, for instance, you'd be seeing a lot of red noses. I never imaged Woodtick as a warm tropical place; I mean the pirates lit a campfire there. Doesn't sound very warm to me. Also, don't ask me how or why, but red noses can actually add a lot to the atmosphere of a game, book, or movie. Don't ask me why but characters with red noses for me have always been atmospheric, like rats in top hats as well.
But surely it isn't keeping in with original character styles of the game? They're putting effort into the backgrounds this time so why be lazy with the character designs? Some characters suit it, but is there really a need for every character (from what we've seen so far) to have the same style big red obvious nose.
I was expecting to see Guybrush scratching his head like in the original picture.
One of my favourites things about Monkey 2 were Guybrush expressions, (like the scratching, or when he put those big open eyes) I was wondering how this tiny things were managed on the SE.
Oh well. I ll have to wait `till the game.

No. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I meant no meaning yes.
None of the character designs look lazy to me, and definitely not because they put a red nose on each character. All of the noses are basically no different from the original character noses and a NOSE hardly destroys the entire character design. I mean the noses look no DIFFERENT yet we're complaining about the COLOR? It's not like their noses are GREEN or BLUE or made up of all the colors of the RAINBOW, and none of the characters have suddenly found themselves turning into Pinnochio with their nose growing longer every time they talk. And I'm not shouting with my caps I'm just emphasizing my points.
[Ash gives me a funny look]
All right I am. I'm shouting! I'm shouting! I'M SHOUTING! [j/k]
I think this new character design is perfect - remember, this guy is just a gigantic lump of dumb, angry muscle, and having huge arms and a red nose gets that message across straight away.
I am a bit worried that we haven't been shown many facial expressions for Guybrush - while the new addition of him standing heroically with his hands on his hips in the Jolly Rasta screenshot is great, I'm just worried that this character model will turn out to be an emotionless robot, like in the first Special Edition.
I wonder if the MI1 Guybrush in the dream sequence will use MI2 Guybrush's sprites (in MI1 clothes), like the poster in the new screenshot. LucasArts seem to be doing away with the MI1 hairstyle completely in the special edition, after the reaction it had.
about the guard, i think he looks pretty good but i don't understand why are they exaggerating every character turning them into caricature style, like exaggerating arms, head and nose, similar to Mad Marty or Largo.
looking at panoramic view that Laserschwert posted, it's interesting to see how they updated things - middle tower seems somehow most authentic to the original and rather nicely drawn. water and houses on the right and down the road feel authentic too but also little rushed. hill and palms in the back are nice although they decided to go with the brighter green which removes some of the "mystery jungle" effect imo.
The jail part is pretty good with some nice shadows. about the street surface it's an interesting update although the tiles and colors in original have a little bit more of "randomness" into them
all in all it's rather nice with good level of details and matching original colors. character style is debatable and as someone mentioned, Guybrush had many memorable expressions in MI 2 so we'll see how that turns up

A little more info over a MixN'Mojo.
hes also Vamp in Metal Gear Solid

Yea Id call it confirmed after reading the Lucasarts twitter page:
"Hint: Most geeks love him better as some kind of outer space potato man"

So you see, Monkey 4 took a really good care of details. Take that EMI haters!
now who can tell me of another place from a MI game which has also a lots of animal trophies?
It says on the official MI2SE page that the all-star cast of Monkey Island is returning.
Oh yes, of course you're right! Sheesh... I really need to play this again soon if I'm getting this forgetful about my favourite game of all time!
Morts house!
to be fair only one of thoes where real

It looks like his arm is covered in tumors.

BONK!
THUD!
Holy crap, that made me laugh so so very hard. Yet I was talking about real red noses, not fake clown ones.

And while they're at it, they should make a SE of MI4 as well
