I do that everyday, after I brush my teeth with my Pimple electric toothbrush.
Gotta keep those teeth pearly white! XD

Today I managed to get as far as the letter 'o'. Its a real achivement .

(I think I might have more luck, and save a few pennies if I did try to call somewhere more local though...)

If heaven was real and this tecnology existed would God let a clone into Heaven? Because it wasnt created by god but by man. Same goes for advance AI's that are basicly human.
The question is obviously more complex than that. Though I don't believe in any particular deity or pantheon of deities, there's certainly the question of whether or not any given thing could be "not be made" by a particular deity. Human beings and human choice are already naturally very much a part of the creation of a new human being, and we are becoming even more involved through advanced medical technologies that, by certain definitions, "defy nature". We have artificial insemination, for instance, which put all of "God's" ingredients together in a way that is not by any means "natural"(it even has "artificial" right in the name!), and yet we wouldn't deny that any person conceived in this manner is any less "human" than anyone else walking down the street.

All the same, it doesn't make much sense to me that there is a deity, at the very least one that actually cares about what humanity does. And if s/he or they does care, it doesn't seem like they actively exert any sort of power over this universe. Or, if they do exert power, it's not for the overall wellbeing of humanity as a whole, and their goals and methods are indifferent to or simply not benevolent towards humanity. I'm not saying that any given deity is necessarily malevolent, but they probably don't care. If they exist, they could have their plans and the state of humanity simply isn't working against that plan right now.

Let's seriously look at the world for a second. If a deity was interested in fairness of any sort, and by any logical definition, then why is wealth distributed the way it is?

    8uQRW.gif

Furthermore, if a deity cared about what religion humans practice, then why would they allow it to be far easier, culturally, to be "born into" the "right" way to view the universe? If one religion is truth, and those who practice it have the right way to live one's life, then why do most people practice the same religion as their parents or surrounding culture?

    YdTuV.gif

If life was somehow a test, then why is there infant mortality? Why do children die? Why is life so much harder for those in underprivileged nations? If a deity or deities care and are testing or looking for the right behavior out of humans, people seem born into different "tests", they are given different time limits, sometimes aren't even allowed to start after preparing for a few months in gestation, some are forcibly cut short by abortion(entirely different and even muckier issue, this statement isn't meant as an attack against or protection of the practice), for many it's easier to pick the "right way" due to education, distribution of wealth, general culture, acceptance by their own community, etc etc.

When one looks at the world, as a whole, it seems less like a deity is acting upon it than it is that human beings are scrambling for ownership of all the world's things, and some people are simply in a better position to grab up more than other people. "Good people" and "Bad people" don't seem to be either rewarded or punished within a lifetime, at least not according to any form of ethics that human beings understand. I doubt any truly ethical being would damn populations of entire nations for any reason, and this is obviously a fairly common viewpoint, as disgust towards "God's revenge for Pearl Harbor" sentiments has shown.

I think there is enough evidence to, with great confidence, say: "There is not a deity or pantheon of deities that personally interfere in human events for the benefit of human beings or any given religion as a whole". Still, evidence-wise, that only gets you down to deism. After that, I simply go for the explanation that requires the least magic or superstition, that doesn't involve the need for a supernatural being. I could say my missing other sock was the result of a theft by the sock gremlins or some other magical being, and certainly I can't prove that some sort of sock gremlin does not exist, but it seems a good deal more likely that I simply lost the thing.

....this post started as a reply to the question and kind of transformed into something else entirely. Sorry.

My power went out today for about 2 and a half hours. I have my desktop pc (not incl. speakers), router and dsl modem connected through my ups, so they didn't turn off when it happened.

Now, my Rocketfish UPS has a lit display on it which tells me how much time is left before the battery dies (as well as other info.) This information at first said it had approx. 30+ minutes left of battery life, but when I turned my pc and monitor off leaving the dsl modem and router on, the timer shot up to 87 minutes, and stayed there (minus a minute or two) the entire time the power was out. My wife was playing an mmo on our laptop, and she just kept playing until the laptop battery was ~10 minutes away from dying (which was more than an hour later.)

I was impressed. It makes me wonder just how much power a wireless router and/or a dsl modem actually draws form the wall. Clearly my ups thought they were negligible.

But... but... she a lady. If there aren't weapons involved, that's totally a fight I'd be willing to... um... officiate.

Pants, I'm sorry to disappoint, but if this actually happened, it probably wouldn't be all that entertaining. In fact, it would probably be very short.

I just signed up for an account at GOG.com, and got 4 free games:
Tyrian 2k, Lure of the Temptress, Beneath a Steel Sky and Teen Agent.

    Is this a normal occurrence?

Completely normal. In fact, those games were legally free to download before GOG started distributing them, but they wrapped them in a nice executable that is easy to install.

Teen Agent is awful, Tyrian 2,000 is a shoot-em-up which isn't really my genre, I haven't played Lure of the Temptress, and Beneath a Steel Sky is pretty great.

It's just over a year since my much-loved grandmother died. The first birthday where I didn't get a card from her really drove it home all over again... and whenever I'm going back to Australia I still find myself planning to visit her. It's difficult to get used to the idea of someone who's been there your entire life suddenly... not being there any more. I sort of keep re-remembering. I can't even imagine what it's like to lose a parent.

I haven't seen that in years! I had this Doctor Demento CD when I was a kid, and that was on it. I just nostalgia'd so hard. Although when I heard it, the song was considerably different. The skit portion was entirely the same, though.

You could totally put Sith. In universe, I think you could count Sith as a sect of Jedi. There was sort of a schism, a-la the Protestant Reformation, except the Sith later went underground and began launching systematic campaigns to kill all the Jedi. Totally a sect.

Yeah, I was watching Brave and the Bold.

I'm sure Shaggy and Scooby picked up a few fighting tips from Batman and Robin. They're clearly pretty close friends if they keep meeting up with each other.

I want to see the gang team up with 90's Animated Series Batman. I mean, it wouldn't be THAT HARD to fit together.
