Darn...I can't move to the UK or some place fun to live for a while...I got family and they're all I got and I wouldn't want them to feel lonely or be hurt. Even though our relationship is close, I really wish I could see more of the world.

If your family cares for you as selflessly as they should, they'll understand that you need to live your own life.
I was listening to smurf the facts, track 4 or 5 at full volume Stigmata High Five, it was so brutal it doesn't even sound like music...it's just insane.
Spent most of today switching between working through some Frostburn stuff for YET ANOTHER D&D game I'm running (bringing my total up to 4 now) and Playing goddamned Dragons of Atlantis on Facebook. I really, really hate having a weakness for RTS games with fantasy elements....

And also, it would probably make them sad and heard them knowing you're sacrificing your dreams (dreams might be a big word, but you get the point) because of them.
So doing what you think would make you happy is not only something that shouldn't have a negative impact on your family, it's quite likely to have a positive one.
I'm reading it for the first time on paper. I haven't reread it yet, so it's pretty awesome getting back around to it. What did you think of it?
I read it for a history class last year and from what I remember, it was pretty interesting stuff, actually one of the more interesting readings we had in that class. And it's short, too.
I also had fun counting how many times Marx said "bourgeoisie" and "proletariat".

Try sprinkling those words over any discussion you might have about society and class warfare. Great times, I tell you!
Internationally, I'd say we're the bourgeoisies. Within the nation, though? I'd have to say I have no idea. I'm probably bourgeois, though. Probably.
I'm pretty sure I am as well. But while reading the Manifesto it's more entertaining if you pretend that you're the proletariat. Then, you don't feel like your days are numbered.

It's the only way that it doesn't read like a portent of forthcoming doom. It also helps to bare in mind that Communism - for the time being - has been defeated. That's not to say it could never make a comeback, though.

True, true. Well, the thing about Communism is that it's flawed at the individual level. People always want to be better than someone else. Until that changes, Communism probably won't work anywhere for very long.

This is why - I think - Communist governments should have tried Socialism beforehand. It's easier to transition a Socialist society into Communism then to go straight from Capitalism to Communism, at least that's my theory.

That could work, I suppose. It just seems, in retrospect, that there was very little incentive for advancement in the society. If you're paid the same regardless of whether you do a good job or not, there's no reason to do a really good job.

This is true. This is also where a Socialist system comes in handy. Based upon my understanding, it would help acclimate people to a totally egalitarian society while still fulfilling their need to earn more than their peers - again, in my understanding.

Yeah...that would probably be the best way to go about things.
Day 1 was spent measuring the yard and planning things out. Day 2 was spent tearing out a chokecherry bush.
Day 3 was spent driving out to south Denver, picking up my great uncle, taking them to his son's house to get a ground roller, taking them home, driving back north to drop the roller at my grandpa's house, then spending four hours and over $700 at Home Depot. I sat down about half an hour ago.
I think when discussing Socialism versus Communism it's important to distinguish between one being an economic system and the other embracing political/economic factors. They also determine who receives what based on different factors.
Annoyed how Youtube has been so slow for months and months now... where occasionally videos will load fine right away, but very often they will load incredibly slowly... reloading the page a few times often works and the video will end up loading at normal speed... but far from always.
I've heard of many other people having the very same issue so I'm doubtful it's on my end... every other video site loads perfectly fine.
Very annoying as Youtube is one of the sites I quite regularly visit.
Having a little rant here: I know this is a what's on your mind thread but do you really think people are interested or care that you've wrote 100 words for your assignment but you hate it so your going to eat a sandwich? (Just an example)

If they don't care, there are plenty of other threads to read and partecipate...
I'm getting burned out writing this thread about Episode 3's gameplay. It's getting pretty long, and I'm just at "exploring around after jumping the south gate".

lol he means 3D studio max, or the nintendo 3DS
I think
Just love the built in stuff!
Got the best launch titles too. (Super Street Fighter 4 3D and Ghost Recon Shadow Wars (which is similar to Advanced Wars/Fire Emblem))
You could save up for a cruse around the world.

Yes it is and yes they are.
Welcome to the corruption.

I have!

Oh, the times we had in history discussion! Mainly trying to figure out which class we belonged in.

Sitting here coughing and my nose is stuffed, good times.
Sorry but there's nothing worse than someone coming into work coughing and snorting all day spreading what they've got, have the day off!
Absolutely true.
